Bandeirantes were tough explorers in colonial Brazil, responsible for expansion of Portuguese colonial domains beyond Tordesilhas Line. They looked good on battles, since they raided many places, such as jesuit villages of catechization and quilomboes (strongholds of escaped slaves).

It would be very cool if Portuguese could have them as their second UUs. They would be unique Explorers, tougher, with larger line of sight and craft recharged faster than ordinary Explorers.

it'd be very cool if ES can consider them and think about putting them as a new UU for Portuguese

Bandeirantes could be a nice explorer unit for the Portuguese in the middle of the game...

I'm the 4th Brazilian to reply .

I believe nations may have more than just one UU.

Maybe as an upgraded version of the explorer, but not so that theese guys and your normal explorer. That would be OP.

I don't really understand why the Portuguese have only one UU...

Ya, it doesn't make sense. I like the portuguese, but I won't play as them if they only have one uu

but the potuguese have the spyglass ability and two TC it is usufull more than UU. and the UU's are not so unique in AoE3...

I said it plenty of times I will say it again, it's much to late to be begging for new units. Nice thought though...

Though I'm neither Portugese nor Brazilian, I think the Portugese should have atleast 2 UU's. It's really not fair that they only get one.

No civ has just one unique unit.

But we'll try and find a way to sneak in Bandeirantes in some form.

Maybe it will be a civ unique upgrade for the Portuguese explorer

like Redcoats for British musketeers or Voltigeur for French skirmisher/musketeer?? (not sure which one of the 2)

It's probably the royal guard version of their skirmisher or musketeer. That or a HC tech improving their explorers.

i don't think so, lief.. Cass(z)adores are already portuguese unique skirmishers.

Bandeirantes were famous as great explorers with destruction power (they captured indians for alternative slaveship and slaughtered quilombos inhabitants).
So they could be explorers with powerful attack (growing along the ages), more toughness and faster craft recovery rate.

Ah, didn't realize this was a month old now. I was thinking Greg was just teasing you guys a bit, but maybe not since its just an old response.

In our preview build:

"Bandeirantes
lvl 25, Age 4 Shipment
Ships 2 extra explorers from your homecity."

2 extra explorers may not strike you as much in the fourth age, but keep in mind that in the fourth age Explorers get the Crackshot ability, allowing them to instant kill any cavalry, infantry, or nugget guardian in one hit (its on a cooldown of course). So for micro fans, having three explorers out at once isn't too shabby at this stage of the game.

I just knew that there was more to the explorer than just being an eco unit!

I was already planning to start off as Portuguese...so this is good news for me

PS: To TGE/JcL/Anyone who has the preview disk, does the Crackshot ability affect all units or just infantry/cavalry?
