Lol, does anyone have the heart to tell this guy that it doesn't mean 1.1 million online accounts?

It means 1,1 million players currently playing?

Look at games played 377k 1Million players >.> It derives from the amount of players per game not the amount of ESO accounts.

Lol, almost no game will have 1.1 million players simulataneously playing! Imagine the server load!

Even Warcraft3 will have about 40000 players online playing, a farcry from 1.1 million.

The amount currently playing on ESO at this moment = zero. (the servers are down)

The number simultaneously online at any one time is around 3000 though it hits about 4500 at peak.

lol, I thought AOE3 was more popular than Age Of Mythology?
3000-4500 players??? come on, warcraft manages 40.000 why cant AOE3 do that? AOE3 seems like a popular game to me, but maybe Im wrong then

Expected, Age3 has been selling quite well. You expect 1.1 million people to register accounts on ESO atleast.

It is new, and expensive.

I mean...3000-4500 players online at a time is ridicilous! Look at Warcraft 3! It's an OLD game and it STILL manages to keep the number of people online at a time at 50.000!

And CS is a 7! (SEVEN) year old game and its got 100.000 players online at a time!

Maybe AOEIII will change the historical trend of the Age Series, by having more people joining the online gaming segment.

Most Age games tend to sell with the single player vs. multiplayer.

You still should purchase the game, because it is fun, in my opinion. And I get my ass handed to me plenty in MP.

It would have been amzing if ESO had that many people online.

I guess AOE3 doesn't have that many players online because of ESO problems, once they r fixed we should c a lot more people, maybe even 10000.

I have the game but I cant go online .

Did someone say that there are 40,000 people online AT THE SAME TIME on Warcraft 3? (Not World of Warcraft!) Are there really that many people on that game?

Yeah there are. Younger kids tend to be drawn more to warcraft3, the community over there can be horrendously childish. Children also have lots more time to play so, there is always lots online.

Oh and the fact that its a simplistic game helps a lot too...

Plus, Warcraft 3 is in WCG.

posted 11-27-05 10:52 PM EDT (US)     18 / 36
Err war3 is in WCG, CPL, ACON, ESWC plus leagues such as ESL's WC3L plus Korean leagues like MBC and OGN plus InCup..plus lots of other things, and all those leagues = $MONEY$ not just for fun.

Alizee- but for more than 99% its just for fun since they cant and wont win any prices. So the programing factor is only as relevant as any other advertising. It spices up things for some people but is likely not the key to the amount of people playing.

KS, you mean you expected that many players to create account? That seems very optimistic if you look at older AoE games.

The ESO problems is surely not the issue. AoE3 isn't small in RTS mp terms. Rather the opposite. But Blizzard games are just in their own league when it comes to amount of people.

Also, the game won't reach its peak level of players for a while yet. Expect a huge leap at Christmas, and it to continue rising for a few months after that.

Blizzard games have always been number one when it comes to online popularity. One major reason is that Blizzard games are faster, easier to learn, and games typically take less time to learn. They are also much more polished and better support.

Blizzard would never launch without a real ladder. They would never have let Huns dominate AOC. They continue patching a game until the balance is near perfect.

Warcraft 3 is still a shallow piece of crap though. But it is a very well supported, polished piece of crap.

Like someone earlier said, you're never lacking a game with 3k people online. Also, do you really think the ESO servers could handle 40K?

and it isn't piece of crap. For me, WoW is a piece of crap... peaking 550 000 players over the world online at the same time...

It is fun but it isn't Warcraft for me.

According to my ladder before it went down, there are approximately 30,000 people who play games in a given week.
