The Guide of Northwest Territories

The Basics:

Map Layout:

1v1

  • This layout is easy for many things, for one you can boom, by walling the crossings and fish booming, of do a straight ff by walling them then aging. Although sometimes you may end up not getting 3 hunts, as you can see by the picture, I only got 1 hunt that game. If you are player one, then you will most likely be on the bottom portion of the map.
    2v2

  • This layout allows for some very good raiding, as there is a considerable hole between the allies towns. You will get 2 extra hunts on your side, and fishing will increase considerably from 1v1 map.
    FFA

  • The notable difference in this layout if that there are no longer any crossings on the map, fishing is extraordinary on this, and natives are moved to the center. You may be placed very close to enemies and be limited by their town center restriction on building.

    Resources:

    Food:
    Sources:

    Animals:
  • Moose:500 food
  • Elk:500 food
    Fishing:
  • Fish-salmon: 500 food
  • This map will often have 3 large hunts near your town which can be easily herded.
  • Depending on the number of players on the map, there will be fish out in the main body of water, but also about 2000 food worth of fish in the smaller dividers between the crossings.
  • There will also be 2-3 hunts on the faraway island.
    Wood:
  • There will be many patches of large amounts of wood across the map
  • Sometimes the trees will slightly block the crossings
    Gold:
  • All mines on the map will be silver mines worth 2000 gold
  • Almost always there will be 4 mines on your side of the map
  • 1-2 mines will be found on the faraway island
  • Your first mine will often be toward the front of your base
  • There are no whales in the water on this map
    Common Strategies:

  • Fast fortress
  • Semi-FF
  • Raiding
  • Fish booming
  • Turtling
  • Rushing isn’t very successful if opponent herded well enough
    Trading Posts:

  • Trade routes

  • One on each players landform
  • Each will have 2 trading posts
  • On average the amount of xp gained will be 70-80
  • Natives

  • There will be one native post next to each player’s town
  • These will be Klamath

  • The third native post will be on the small landform to the east
  • This will be Nootka

  • Treasures:

    Mainland
  • A nearly mature cougar kit that you can tame
    3x cougar
  • A pool of quicksilver worth 90 coin
    2x wolf
  • Beaver whose pelts are worth 50 coin
    None
  • A stand of cottonwood worth 80 wood
    2x grizzly bear
  • A trapped native american warrior who may join the cause of whoever rescues him
    1x outlaw rifleman
    1x pistolero
  • A stand of quaking aspen worth 80 wood
    3x cougar

As I saw on that map you have to cross little pieces of land to get to the other side, or is the water shallow enough to cross, because then you can wall the path through the water and then he can't raid because he then has to burn down the walls.

yea you can build anything on the crossings, but ships cant sail across them

How often does it help to build a dock in the inter-areas between the crossings? (How often is the starting TC within firing range of the tributary?)

well i wouldnt say its very profitable to build in there since your ships can easily be attacked.and the town center is never in range of the water, well as far as my experiences go.

The nice thing about this map is theres so many wood treasures, each side has roughly 2-3 in team games and you can easily get a TP or early BH up.

Or if you want be a dink and wall off the paths.

    Great Job!

though unfortunately this map isn't in standard rotation anymore. I think you could make good use of the [ ul], [ *], and [ /ul] commands in BB code though

    Great job!, Added.

just need to make a variation to it to protect from fast rushing,, possibly muskets and a few walls would deter them..
