Sioux have always had a mediocre FF. A typical Sioux FF is always quite late compared to European civs due to the 5 vill start and if you wish to compare to other civs speed wise you will surely have to sacrifice your eco.
For example a typical French FF will age with 16 CdB (20 vills) compared to a Sioux FF which will age with 18 vills to arrive at similar times. So I have devised the SPF to help overcome this draw back.
2) You will have 3) 4) a It's also is very flexible. Because of so much XP coming in you can quite easily turn it into an FI by aging with 1000f and then sending 1000f. Works against rushes to some extent because you get shipments before you even reach fortress you can ship 6 cetans, 4 axe riders. Once with XP treasures I got 3 shipments by the time I got to fortress! This map is obviously very trade route dependant. You can't do it without a trade route. Minimum requirements are at least 2 obtainable trade route TPs. Maps such as New England, NW Territory, Great Lakes, Texas are best. The more trade route TPs the better. Maps such as Andes with 2 obtainable trade route TPs work nicely (sometimes 3 if third is far enough from enemy TC). You will still get your 2 shipments though as you reach fortress rather than during age up. Another issue is starting crates. This FF offers good results in a pretty good time and so is a pretty tight strat. Timing needs to be precise. This strat is pretty tight with time so do everything as efficient as possible! Age 1: Summary: 2 wood crates start: Send 2 vills hunting, and 3 towards food crates. Queue up a vill at 9 seconds at most. After the 3 finished with food crates move onto wood crates and then on to trees, aim: 250 wood. 1 wood crate, rest food start: Same as above but after you queue up your first vill, have 1 villager dedicated to food and the rest to wood. Search for any wood treasures as much as you can. This will probably delay your time by a bit but not significantly. After that send the warchief straight to a TP. Choose your TP carefully, don't go to the closest one but the furthest. EG on NW Territory go to the furthest one (on your opponents half). It's not that important it survives if they take it down later on, just as long as it makes it colonial and supplies you your 2 shipments. This makes it less risky for your 3 TP shipment later on. After you gather 250 wood build a TP ASAP. This should be at Send 3 vills as first card. Age when you have 15 vills with the messenger. You should click age up button no later than Summary: Send the 3 TP travois card straight away. After this has sent if everything is done right you should have another shipment short after if not straight away. Send 700g. You know your doing good if you send the 700g card by Prior to getting the 700g shipment ready, look for XP treasures. I can't stress how important these could be to good time. Age 2 is pretty straight forward really. Remember to constantly queue up vills with no delay inbetween. Try to get as many herds towards your TC because you'll need a good supply of food. Age up at 6:00 latest with whatever you want really. *** I usually age with bison to secure hunting and send the hunting card later on (which no other civ I know has) and ship 15 bisons. You'll get a lot of shipments later on due to the trade route you have. When I reach fortress I usually send 5 axe riders and 5 RR straight away. You may also ship with wood for buildings/boom. You'll get one shipment almost instantly after you starting aging which if your being attacked you could ship cetans or axe riders to defend. You'll get another one soon after which you can also use for defence. You could even age with 1000f and send 1000f and go on to industrial (though thats a bit risky). Do whatever you want, it's your choice. I try to have a coral/WH built by the time I get to fortress. Because you can gather quite a bit of food/gold in that time and make wakinas/cav straight away. Last but not least Good luck, have fun! I greatly welcome any constructive criticism/comments. This is my first strat, so be gentle. PS: I haven't had the chance to play much online lately, been busy with exams etc. I know people don't value offline recs as much, but I will be happy to post a rec against Expert if you want. I HAVE tested this strat and it works. It won't make much difference against a real player because really, at the end of the day...it'll be just a record of an alternative FF BO. I won't go into as much detail as before but this is it: First card: ATP Age up with 400wood. Put 2 vills on gold, rest on food. 2nd card: Send 3 vills gather up the wood ASAP and build more TPs. If you can only capture 1 more trade route TP you might as well save the 250w you have left over for a WH. 3rd card: Send 700g when it comes Age up with messenger as soon as you have 20 vills. You should arrive no later than 7:40. You should have 3 (or 2) trade route TPs and 20 vills. Enjoy [This message has been edited by George_uk (edited 01-04-2007 @ 12:55 PM).]
1) Get you to fortress at
Sioux don't need to build houses. Have a quick WC which is great for treasures and good scouting.
They have the 3 TP shipment.
Also they can see where all the TPs are without exploring.
Sioux can make good use of natives and have the best native cards among the native civs. You will most of the time pick up a native TP which is a nice addition and adds to the flexibility. Sioux get nice age 3 native cards. You could send for native treaties (age 2) but you can also send the card that reduces training times by 85%. Obviously spies are an issue.
1) Get an early TP:
2) Age with 15 vills with messenger
1st card) 3 vills
Your vill training may be interrupted at this point due to lack of food for a short period of time. The problem is easily overcome with the fast WC. Either find some herd animals (which solve the problem even with one) and gather them with the 2 vills straight away or a small food treasure.
After your TP is built treasure hunt like crazy for food/XP treasures. Don't bother with coin treasures just yet. They are not essential for this strat to make the results I stated above but help significantly.
Put 3 vills on gold. Rest on food. Search for XP treasures as much as you can. Even 40XP is really good and try to get any passing coin ones. Queue up vills.
1) make 5 vills
2) 1st card - 3ATP
3) 2nd card - 700g
4) Look for XP treasures.
Don't forget to build a market and get the upgrades!
Have 4 vills on food, 1 on wood until you have 150 wood (including starting wood crate).
You should get another card pretty soon.
