World War Three

yet another game design by Empror

History
Near the end of the 21st century, as the United States began to release their grasp of the world, humanity was experiencing it's first true crisis. Earth was clean out of oil. Additionally, Earth ecology was severely damaged by three centuries of distasteful, abominative industry. Overall, the o-zone layer was crippled, earth's magnetic shield weakened, the water polluted, the air filled with filth, and many vital species of insects, fish, and mammals extinct. All of these problems could not be treated at once.

Project Stylo
An idea was conceived, and somehow brought before the leaders of the USA and Canada. They suggested the creation of S.T.Y.L.O (Stormy Temporal Young Layer of Omega) – in general, this was an enormous (about 2,500 cubic kilometers) storm to be stationed in the north pole, it will provide a steady energy source, and reinforce the earth's magnetic shield layer. Unfortunately, Stylo would cause many storms and other ecological damages in consequence. The idea was rejected by the United Nations, but the north-Americans would not stand by and let their capitalism be disturbed. The US, Canada, Britain, and Russia broke-off from the UN. They organized their crews and forces in the central arctic, and on 5:00 AM, May 6th, 2094, project STYLO was successfully launched.

Operation: Sewer Cheese
A combined tactical special-ops team from the middle-east (particularly Egypt and Turkey) made an attempt to shut down Stylo. After advancing through the guard outposts and scientific surveillance base, they utilized an EMP shockwave device three inches into Stylo. The operation went catastrophically wrong, as a number of covert commandos were killed by an outburst, while one was even sucked beyond time-space; the team was exposed: thus, on May 9th, 2094, World War 3 began. The European union declared neutrality before the war was even acknowledged, causing Britain, Russia, and Turkey to leave it. Though not officially so, the UN was disbanded. The great military powers of the world divided into two sides: The Stylo Alliance (known as Stylo), and the Eastern Alliance (known as 'the Alliance').

Gameplay
World War Three is a rather ordinary RTS game. Workers harvest resources, use them to build buildings, the buildings train units, the units kill each other. Very simple.

Resources
There are three resources in World War Three: Steel, Hydrogen, and Nuclear. Though Steel and Hydro a widely used, Nuclear is a rather special resource used only for nuclear weapons. The worker units (Stylo Truck-Dozer, Alliance Engineer, Rexumean Trilobite) harvest steel from natural iron-formations, and cash-it-in at Resource Plants. The same is done with Hydro which can be harvested from water or Stylo itself, unfortunately, Hydro is gathered in smaller quantities and therefor takes more time to accumulate. Nuclear, unlike the two other resources, can only be produced at Nuclear Silos. A Silo is a building to be constructed, but the max amount of Nuclear Silos available depends on technology levels. 1-8 workers can work in such a silo, slowly generating Nuclear.

Technology
Rather then advancing through ages (kinda stupid in a 10 month war), you advance through techs. In a manner like that of the Civilization games, each tech achieved enables you to advance to the next level of techs. A tech has it's bonuses, it's upgrades, and it's units. One tech may make an older one obsolete. The first is the basic tech, which you starts off with. The second is the Side Special tech – cheaper food... kidding! It's a unique tech for your 'side'. Once that's researched, you have access to Espionage, Stellar, Counter-Warfare, and Vehicles techs. Once you have two of those, you can choose between Missile Tech and Aerial Tactics Tech (you'll require the other two to research the other one). Also, once you've researched any three 3rd level techs, you can research Genetics. Last but not least, once you have both Missile and Aerial Tactics techs, you can research Ultimate Weapons or S.T.Y.L.O technology.

Units
Since there are only three sides to play, no units is really 'universal'. However, each of the so-called 'universal' units (though different in name and appearance) have similar stats and a similar role on every side.
Note: in names, the first name is for the Stylo units, the second for Alliance, and the third for Rexumean units.

The Forces

Stylo
The Stylo alliance is composed of four armies of four great major powers. The USA, though they have abandoned their bases and posts in the world, has still remained a mighty military power, with an infinity of nuclear weapons. Canada, which, with global warming, became one the greatest nations on Earth; the Canadian army and navy, though fearsome by themselves, are shadowed by Canadian General Allen Dark, known for his bloodthirsty ruthlessness, brilliant field tactics, and excellent personal dualsmanship. Britain, not as powerful as it used to be, still serves as a powerful political, counter-terroristic, and nuclear power in the possession of the Stylo alliance. Russia, the only Asiatic force to stand for S.T.Y.L.O. The Russian army would be able to keep the east-asian powers busy by combating them. Additional Stylo forces come mainly from South and Central America.

Alliance
The eastern Alliance is composed of one truly great power, and several secondary power-ranked nations. China is the most prominent of the Alliance powers, possessing the largest army in the world, with swarms of infantry and vehicles, and heavy armament of nuclear weapons. India and Pakistan finally managed to find peace by directing their strength against the Stylo powers. Together, these nations posses an enormous army and a large arsenal of nuclear weaponry. Turkey, Egypt, and Iran[I] provide their great military assistance to battle Stylo, with good infantry and air forces, and [I]Israel devotes its full military, especially the well-equipped and well-trained special forces, and dozens of nuclear weapons. Additional Alliance forces come mainly from Asia and Oceania.

Rexumeans
AI was first achieved in 2081. Since then, various attempts were made to create and destroy such beings. Just after Stylo was created, a group of humanoid AI robots were escorted in their daily walk through Helsinki. An angry mob formed around them, pushing and attacking their guards. Eventually, the robots were massacred and a bill was passed against any future robots. Quite miraculously, a single robot called 'Johnny' managed to survive. It escaped the city, and by hooking-up to the Internet for five minutes, became the wealthiest being on Earth, with an army of mercenaries to it's command. Johnny prepared the first force of obedient combat robots (drones) and set it's eyes on the islands of Svalbard.

Campaigns
As usual, the campaigns are the highlights of my games. This time, however, you have full control of the storyline. There is a campaign with each of the three sides, and each campaign follows a similar – yet different – storyline then the others.

Stylo Campaign
The Stylo Alliance immidietly sent out their top general, Supreme Commander Allen Dark, to Antarctica. An expected colonial war was to occur. Dark arrived with a large army at the American-Canadian city Palmer City, and was greeted with cheers. Dark advances to meet with Rajib Kanai's army in the Battle of Marle Byrd land. He then encounters an enormous formation of five hostile armies drawn especially to defeat him. Dark changes his offensive force to defensive positions, and manages to fend-off every attack wave. He is eventually defeated with artillery. Meanwhile, Stylo Command has noticed the small robo-nation of Rexumea. They launch a secret aero-nuclear offensive but are massacred by the unexpectedly effective robot army. At this point, WW3 became a war of intelligence and diplomacy to win the heart of the Rexumean robots. While a major naval battle (Battle of Weddell Sea) occurs between the Japanese and British navy, prime-minister of Turkey and chairman of the security-board Mahmud Khalamish Ottoman, closed-down the Turkish parliament and declared himself Sultan. The Israelis tried to kill him and blamed it on the Americans. With more reinforcements from Canada, Dark made his way to the once european city of Suud Polen. He encountered the army of Supreme Alliance Commander general Ariel Debowy. In mid-battle, the two leaders decide to stop the bloodshed and finish it by dueling-it-out. Dark kills Debowy, and proceeds to the city. Inspired by Dark's victory, the Rexumean Rector decides to join Stylo and invents a plan to move Stylo over India-Pakistan. Dark proceeds to besiege the city of Suud Polen (which claimed independence) and eventually resorts to nuclear means. The devastated Alliance nations surrender to Stylo, and are occupied by Rexumeans, Americans, and Canadians. The End.

Alliance Campaign
With the failure of operation Sewer-Cheese, the Alliance heads-of-state convene. They decide to appoint Israeli general Ariel Debowy as the Supreme Alliance Commander. Debowy launched an Indo-Pakistani army under Rajib Kannai, who are defeated by Allen Dark. With their failure, and China with the rest of the central and eastern asian nations invading Russia, it was left for Japan to send their fleet in an assault at Palmer City. China recovers a large amount of nuclear weapons at Russia, and uses them for a one-side nuclear attack there. Stylo attempted an attack at the robo-kingdom of Rexumea, which was thralled. At this point, WW3 became a war of intelligence and diplomacy to win the heart of the Rexumean robots. Prime-minister of Turkey and chairman of the security-board Mahmud Khalamish Ottoman, closed-down the Turkish parliament and declared himself Sultan. Israeli special forces, dressed in USA uniforms, made an assault at his palace, but were defeated. This was the first in a long series of inner-quarrels. Dark advanced through Antarctica and battled Debowy, the two deciding to end the fight with a duel. Dark kills Debowy on the spot, advancing to Suud Polen. India and Pakistan find themselves in a violent dispute over war casualties, and eventually use a small amount of nuclear weapons. Devastated by this, China and Japan decide to send forces to occupy Indo-Pakistan and the Middle East. Inspired by this display of power, Rexumea decides to join the Alliance, and together they mount their final assault at Stylo itself. When he almost resorts to nuke Suud Polen, Dark is recalled to protect Stylo. Japanese engineers place particle-strong-force charges at four corners of Stylo, and manage to shut it down. The Stylo alliance would not take this quietly. The End.

Rexumean Campaign
Johny makes it's attack at Svalbard isles, killing every human there. It then turned against his own mercenaries, pleading to the europeans that they were Alliance agents who accidentally bombarded the island who killed the civilians. He then settles in the island, creating his robotic kingdom, Rexumea, as the nation closest to S.T.Y.L.O on earth. Johny now proclaims himself Rector, or king, of Rexumea, and proceeds to a military build-up. A surprise Stylo aero-nuclear attack force is detected heading for Rexumea, and the Rector prepared his forces to encounter it. His defenses destroy the missiles, and defeat the air attack. Now, the world powers truly realize the greatness of Rexumea. At this point, WW3 became a war of intelligence and diplomacy to win the heart of the Rexumean robots. Afraid that the Canadians would use their orbital strike planes to attack him, the Rector creates Octipus, another being of artificial intelligence. Octipus is, in himself, a massive space station, overlooking both orbital defenses, and the production of spy Satellites (known as Octipans). The Rector also had a great dillema: to go with Stylo, who provide his life source, or with the Alliance who never tried to have him killed. He eventually decides to go with the alliance but Octipus betrays him and sides with Stylo. Rexumea is now constantly bombarded by orbital strikes. The Rector uses an army of Norwegian-made aircraft to destroy Octipus, and lands on Antarctica, to find Octipus' converter – Allen Dark. Dark is captured and imprisoned. The Rexumeans then proceed with the allied forces to Stylo, but in a covert op, replaces the particle-strong-force charges with nuclear ones. They back-off from Stylo, and when it erupts, they flank and engulf the fleeing Alliance forces. Rexumea is now the only nation on earth with a working army and any weapons. They implant a new code of laws, which states that human-beings cannot own weapons, cannot have armies, and cannot take part in politics. Rexumea now overshines the world with it's power and everybody abides to it. The End.

Amazing job here
I'd like to see a couple more factions though

And what's with Sewer Cheese and (Stormy Temporal Young Layer of Omega)?

Well, while I was milking some cows, I encountered a cow with an utter infection. I connected the machine to a small container, and the milk that came out was practically cheese. When I was done, I poured the cheesy milk into a drain-ditch I call 'the sewer'. That's how the idea came to me.

Stylo was a name I had in mind for some time. The real name is Stylor (Stormy Temporal Young Layer of Omega Rays). Omega rays are something i made up (they probably do exist, though). Their this kind of radiation. The temporal disturbance field known as Stylo seemds like a storm(which would explain 'stormy'), while it is created by magnetizing omega rays through strong-nuclear-force, thus creating a circular route for them. Following the unlocked circular route, they slowly expand their reach to form a sort of layer. The layers keep adding up, and theory says that beneath all these layers, lies a phenomenon similar to a black hole.

Two new factions will be introduced in the expansion pack: "World War Three: Aftermath", the Europeans (aka European Union) and the African Union.

WORLD WAR THREE: AFTERMATH

EXPANSION PACK

From operation Sewer Cheese:
A combined tactical special-ops team from the middle-east (particularly Egypt and Turkey) made an attempt to shut down Stylo. After advancing through the guard outposts and scientific surveillance base, they utilized an EMP shockwave device three inches into Stylo. The operation went catastrophically wrong, as a number of covert commandos were killed by an outburst, while one was even sucked beyond time-space;
Now he's back... and he wants revenge!

Major Additions
There are 2 great new sides to play, 1 new units for every class, 3 units of the new medium-vehicle class, 1 new unique unit for each side, 2 new techs, 4 new campaigns, and a handful of new maps and game modes!

The 2 New Techs:
Armor Tech – lvl 3 improves vehicle armor and speed, along with enabling several new vehicles
Refining Tech – lvl 4 improves economy greatly, enabling better resource gathering and the creation of new buildings

The Two new Sides:

Europeans
The European Union, called the Europeans, has decided to take a neutral stance in the war. In fact, the Europeans made that decision before the war even began. The recent admissions of Russia and Turkey were canceled, and so was the year-long partnership of England. Without these, the Europeans find themselves lacking military might. During the months of the war, the Europeans set-out to raise a massive military organization, with French officers, German troops, Scandinavian equipment, and plenty of technology from the very far tips of the continent. Europe is now ready to fight, or is it?

African Union
The war affected the African Union greatly. Just as the union was achieving ultimate unification, the Alliance called for the Arabian north-African nations to join the fight (it was also quite offensive that the so-called 'black' African nations received no such summon). Self-called Arab nations who were not acknowledged as so, such as Sudan, Mali, Mauritania, and Somalia, were not allowed to quit the union. Opjomu Habban Tibacha Africus, president of the African Union, rallied the armed forces, and engaged, throughout the months of the war, his own battle against those who refused to rejoin the African Union. Africa is now united, or is it?

Units of the two new Sides
Note: the first unit name is the European one, the second belonging to the African Union.

Worker (Citizen, the African Union uses infantry to harvest and build)

The New Campaigns!

Stylo Campaign
The Stylo alliance slowly returns independence to China, Japan, and the Central Asian nations. The Rexumeans refuse to release the middle-east, north Africa, and India. Both Jewish and Moslem preachers world-wide declare a total-war against the machine race. Turkish commando Sami ah-din Malachi, who was sucked beyond time-space in operation Sewer Cheese returns through Stylo, seeking revenge. He seems less stable mentally, and people strangely follow his orders. Revengefully obsessed with the Stylo alliance, Sami leads the Egyptian rebel forces to an alliance with the Europeans, and plans to battle the Rexumeans. Before the situation escalates to the rejuvenation of the war, Stylo sends supreme commander General Allen Dark to seek out Sami Malachi, and bring him to death. After a harsh chase and many battles throughout the desert, the Egyptian rebels fortify themselves in Cairo, to which Dark lays siege. The Europeans send a surprise attack force, battling Stylo. They eventually build-up near the Egyptian-Sudanese border, preparing to start a mutual nuclear-extermination of Europe and the African Union. Dark stops this by nuking Jerusalem, causing the Europeans and African Union to join together in an exhausting was against Rexumea. The End.

Alliance Campaign
It's been 12 months since the ending of Stylo. General Allen Dark's nuking of Suud Polen (right on the southern pole) caused a small Stylo-like phenomenon called StyLittle. Turkish Cpt. Sami ah-din Malachi (promoted to Major at presumed death), appeared into the ice from StyLittle. He wants revenge against the Stylo alliance. With a heroic award, Sami Malachi is promoted further more, and is now a full Colonel in the Alliance forces. The situation is a dead-end. The Alliance made a slow advance through Stylo counter-attacks, until the Battle of Hudson Bay, which started 20 days ago. The Canadian navy persists against continuous aerial attacks. China's nuclear rampage in Russia caused a toxic radiation cloud, moving towards Europe at high-speed. It is not long before the European union join Stylo against the Alliance. Sami, along with the tyrant Sultan Mahmud Khalamish, launches a secret plan. He develops an enormous arsenal of nuclear weapons at Mongolia, planning on utterly demolishing the entire northern hemisphere. Michael Debowy, cousin of the dead supreme alliance commander Ariel Debowy, prepares a force in China, and attacks Sami's base. The entire base goes bye-bye, but Sami somehow survived. Sami Malachi and Michael Debowy engage in a fierce duel, and just as Sami is about to fire the final shot, he is blasted by an artillery blast - General Allen Dark has invaded from siberia. Michael Debowy fights-off Dark, killing Dark in revenge of his cousin, and saving the day. The End.

Rexumean Campaign
Ever since Rexumea came to power, an organization known as the Resistance formed in Europe. It's mission was to gather and hide arms and military equipment for the final 'judgment day' which will be the battle of man against the machines. Sami Malachi, once a Turkish commando in Operation Sewer cheese, returns from the fifth dimension. Learning of Rexumea's new domination, he flees to Europe and joins the resistance. With the resistance's stored equipment, and a squad of devoted followers, Sami Malachi raids the Rexumean Royal prison, rescuing brilliant tactician General Allen Dark. Together they invent an genius computer virus, which gives half of Rexumea to their command. The robots engage in a brutal civil war, and the Rector realizes he needs help. Michael Debowy, a wealthy businessman with former military experience, is hired to lead Rexumean forces into battle. Michael Debowy battles Dark's forces, and the two engage in a fierce duel. Debowy's cousin, Ariel Debowy, was killed by Dark in a duel the year before at Antarctica. Dark morally wounds Debowy, and to avoid death, Michael Debowy must be turned into a cyborg. Quite insanely, Debowy orders the drop of at-least a dozen nuclear weapons right on Dark himself. Without Dark, Sami Malachi is quickly losing the war, suddenly the Rexumean royal forces turn against Michael Debowy. He realizes the virus has commandeered the Rector himself, and raids the royal palace, destroying the great Rector. Realizing the Rexumean kingdom needs a Rector, Debowy becomes it's ruler. He reinstitute's human rights. The End.

African Union Campaign
[whisper]Note: the African Union campaign is only available after the completion of the other 3
In this scenario, the war never happened. The Alliance never existed, the Jews and Moslems of the middle-east still quarrel, China is still on an evil quest to become an empire, India and Pakistan still exchange nukes, and Japan still didn't produce any nuclear weapons. Sami Malachi, a Turkish agent returning from the fifth dimension, is a slightly-insane Egyptian general. The president of Egypt orders him killed, but he flees to the Egyptian-Sudanese border just as President Africus visits there. He becomes a member of the African Union's board of commanders, and leads them to the conquest of Egypt (along with the rest of north-Africa). The USA and Canada relied on those countries for cheap rental of coastline for their naval bases, which were evicted with the African conquest. Meanwhile, the 'human race' movement in Europe caused a horrible war between the Europeans and the Rexumeans. The Europeans received most of their raw materials from the Antarctican colonies; Rexumea is willing to grant advanced equipment to the African Union in return for their blockade of the Atlantic sea-route. The Americans and Canadians declare war on the African Union, suffering a terrible defeat at the Battle of the Azores, and later at the Battle of Miami. A ceasefire is announced between the Europeans and Rexumeans. The war is over. But meanwhile, the eastern alliance has formed, and Russia fell under attack – World War Four has just begun.... the end?

You should add particle beam cannons in there. The U.S. is currently testing them. Despite their "Star Trek"ish name the particle beam is not visible to the naked eye. Based on the way the subatomic particles in the beam decay they "render" visible only at a certain distance from the weapon. This distance can be "tuned" to whatever by the operators. What does the manifestation of this particle beam look like? You guessed it, a dancing glowing orb that makes impossible "aerial maneuvers" - much like hundreds of UFO sightings. It is envisioned that they would work well only as gorund based installations, space based installations, or installed aboard very large Boeing aircraft. This weapon could fry a target upon impact, instantaneously.
