Topic Subject: Age of Rebirth
posted 11-21-08 09:24 PM EDT (US)
This is a group project idea, like Age of Antiquity based on the Renaissance era. This is somewhat of a remake of AOE3, but the time frame is 1450(Three years before the siege of Constantinople)-1648(The end of the 30 Years' War).
It will start out with a small list of civs, and will eventually get a bigger list as people suggest more and more civs. Each person will pick a civ, and then research each of their civ or civs to the best of your abilities, then fill out a tech tree in the format that I will below.

Here is a list of current civilizations, please make suggestions, I want this to eventually have civs from all over the world...
-Union of Kalmar: NotInvolved
-Kingdom of Sweden (Splits from the Kalmar Union)
-Kingdom of Denmark (Splits from the Kalmar Union)

So everybody pick a civ or multiple civs that you want to work on, or suggest one, and then get busy

If you are making a mod and need some ideas, or if you just like history check out my civ ideas in the "Future ES Games Thread".

They look pretty good, but I was expecting more units. You can have more then one type of Spearmen/Pikemen, Archer, or any of the other units, and you should definitely have more then one type of Cannon

P.S. Check out some of my ideas for Venice on my Italian States thread...
http://aoe3.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=9,35890,,10

P.P.S. Here are some ideas that you could add to Ireland...
Galloglass: Irish rebels armed with huge double handed axes.
Tories: Light rebel infantry armed with muskets and swords.
Kerns: Light rebel infantry armed with rifles. They replace the Skirmisher.
Rapparee: Light infantry armed with a six foot long spear. They are better against infantry then cavalry.

If you are making a mod and need some ideas, or if you just like history check out my civ ideas in the "Future ES Games Thread".

OK, I have put some more units in the 2 civilizations. I am going to start the Safavid Empire, the Kalmar Union and the Golden Horde.

They look good

P.S. If you want some ideas on the Safavids, be free to use some from the Near East/Swords and Shahs mod.

You'll never be able to cram all those civs in it. Just too many and many would be pretty much the same. 12 or so would be plenty.

It's only an idea, I don't plan on making this a game or anything :P I'm doing it more for fun and enjoyment, even though you are right about the list being huge, that is just what Europe was like at that time, full of countries.

Hmm, it's not bad, but we have factions with some of the same names as those units. I think it would be better just to give the Golden Horde and its successors Tatar units, like Tatar Lancers, Tatar Archers, Dismounted Tatar Lancers, and so on

I think it would be easier to get rid of some of the civs which are very similar, and replace them with civs from Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania.
posted 11-26-08 06:30 PM EDT (US)     11 / 11
Okay, I made the list a bit shorter, it's still big but it isn't as big
I don't plan on adding any civs from Asia, Africa, the Americas and Oceania until we are done with the first ones. Then civs from those areas will be added in "expansions".

If you are making a mod and need some ideas, or if you just like history check out my civ ideas in the "Future ES Games Thread".
