As most of you already know, the “Strategic Objectives” scenarios offer new features.
1. Players can capture and re-capture neutral buildings (guarded by guardians) that are scattered around the map and receive economic/military bonuses from them.
2. Players can capture Great Cannons and use them to construct Fixed Guns anywhere on the map.
In two scenarios I added a third feature.
3. Players can Teleport their armies behind enemy lines once they captured a sacred temple (for TWC only).
These new features allow for fast paced game play where your army size can even reach 200 units.
Capturing buildings, constructing Fixed Guns, and Teleporting armies require high level of strategy and tactics in order to be victorious.
There are several different versions with various difficulties and civilizations for each of the scenarios.
There are also different set of version for both AOE 3 Vanilla and TWC.
The AI in the new “Strategic Objectives” scenario maps has been enhanced.
The AI is now shrewd and evasive.
This time the AI relies less on numbers and more on tactics, so prepare to be challenged.
The AI is most challenging on “ Normal ” and “Hard” levels, but on “Easy” and “Moderate” levels the AI is not too challenging.
Due to some issues with Custom Scenarios Online, the “Strategic Objectives” 1V1 Tournament has been postponed until further notice.
Players are invited to beat the “Strategic Objectives” scenario on either “Moderate”, “ Normal ” and/or “Hard” levels.
There are several versions (with different civs) for each difficulty level.
Players can play any of these versions/levels and submit their proof of victory via email for any or all of them.
The more versions you play and beat, the better are your chances to win in the drawing.
Please note that the “Easy” level is not part of the challenge and it is out there for practice only.
Players who meet the challenge will have a chance to win 1 out of 20 game prizes (via drawing) that I am going to give away.
Players can submit proofs of victory to all versions for all qualified difficulty levels (Moderate, Normal and Hard) in order to increase their chances to win,
Every submission qualifies as a separate entry for the drawing.
3 Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
2 Supreme Commander
2 Company of Heroes
3 Rise of Legends
2 AOE 3: The War Chiefs
2 Lord of the Rings: The Middle Earth II
2 Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War
1 Empire Earth 2: Platinum Edition
1 Star Wars: Empire at War
1 Medieval 2: Total War
1 Rome : Total War
Please note that all the games that are listed are brand new games.
All players are welcome to take on the “Strategic Objectives” challenge, even players from other counties (I live in USA ).
However, please note that mail tracking is not available for countries other than USA and that I cannot be responsible for none deliveries.
The Challenge starts on September 11, 2007 and ends on October 10, 2007.
During this period players can submit their proofs of victory in order to qualify for the drawing.
I have included one of my original music tracks with each “Strategic Objectives” scenario as an opening music.
These tracks are included in the ZIP files.
The Challenge and Give Away Rules
In order to meet the Challenge Players have to beat any of the “Strategic Objectives” versions that are on either “Moderate”, “Normal” or “Hard” level.
No cheating (via cheat codes or any other way) is allowed.
The AI will receive 100 units with 20,000 HP if any of the cheat codes is being used.
You can submit any of the scenario versions as there are a few civ versions for every difficulty level.
However, please do not submit proof of victory for the exact scenario more than once.
Double submissions will be disqualified from the drawing.
The same is true for players who used any form of cheating.
Please submit one proof of victory at a time, as every email with valid proof of victory qualifies as a separate entry for the drawing.
This means that the more versions you beat the better chances of winning you will have.
However, please note that players can win only one game prize.
For example, For TWC each scenario has 4 civs and there are 3 qualifying difficulty levels for each civ (Moderate, Normal, and Hard).
That is 12 versions per scenario with a total of 36 versions.
Each one of these versions qualifies as an entry for the drawing, so for TWC you can have up to 36 entries.
Players can submit proofs of victory either for AOE3 Vanilla version or TWC, but NOT for both.
In TWC version, Trade Monopoly should not be used as it doesn’t qualify as an official victory.
Players who meet the challenge will have to submit proof of victory via email in order to qualify for the give away.
During the game a notice will be given to save the scenario once the AI’s population had dropped bellow 30 and his main TC was destroyed.
Players will need to submit that saved game with a screen shot that shows the victory message that is displayed once the player won the game.
It is also a good idea to save the game periodically.
Players can submit their proofs of victory until October 10th 2007.
Each player should list his game choices from the game list.
However, there is no guarantee he will get the game of his choice, but I will do my best to accommodate as many players as possible.
Proof of victory should be sent to MosheLeviM@yahoo.com by October 10th 2007.
The subject line on your email should look like this:
Please make sure to submit every proof of victory separately.
Attach to the email the saved game that you saved just before you won the game (after you were notified to save it via a pop up window).
The saved game can be found in "My Documents/My Game/Age of Empires 3/Savegame".
Your screen shots can be found in "My Documents/My Game/Age of Empires 3/Screenshots”.
Attach to the email one screen shot or two showing the victory message (after you won the game).
Make sure the screen shot is taken above the AI’s base (or what is left of it).
Specify your game choices for the event that you won in the drawing.
Specify your full name and mailing address where to ship the prize (in the event that you win one of the prizes), your forum id and ESO id (if you have one).
Sending your proof of victory to the provided email address will automatically sign you up for the challenge and give away as long as you submitted all the information and material specified above as it was requested.
Players who sign up to the “Strategic Objectives Challenge and Giveaway” automatically AGREE with ALL the rules, settings, prizes and conditions.
I want to thank Schildpad (also known as Furby_Killer) for helping me test the various “Strategic Objectives” scenarios and for his important advice.
Schildpad’s help and feedback was most valuable.
I want to thank pftq for his great “Advanced Effects” that helped me enhance the AI to a new level, and to introduce the “Building Fixed Guns” feature.
I also want to thank somme for his brilliant “Villager Second Calculator” which I used for the free units balancing, and to kjn for making the screen shots for me.
Many thanks to Ensemble Studious for the Custom Scenarios Online (CSO) feature that all of us were waiting for impatiently.
Thank you,
Moshe Levi
