The Signature Guide
After you have registered, you may set your sig(signature). This is a piece of text that you would like to be inserted at the end of all your posts, a little like having headed note paper.

NOTE: HeavenGames does NOT allow pictures in signatures. Therefore, the [Image URL not allowed: tag is disabled. However, you can use smilies in your signature, but don't put more than 5 in them, as these take up a lot of bandwith + loading time for slow connection users. HTML code, javascript, php and the quote tags are disabled as well.

If the administrator has enabled signatures, then you will have the option to include your signature on any posts you make. If you have specified a signature, then the board will automatically append your signature to any messages you post.

You can set your signature by editing your profile and clicking on the "Edit Signature" link.

To adjust your profile go to the editing profile section of the forum. Go to the bottom of that page and insert anything you want as your signature.

Signature Creation

You can create various signatures, with colors or any other features. You can use whatever you like. Mind that most forums don't prefer using racistic, hate, violent or sex related words/pictures/html.

Creating a signature is fairly easy. Here are some examples of what you could use in your signature:

- Colors
- UBBcode
- Quotes
- ASCII art
- Links (you may not use any links that are against the CoC, such as peer2peer or sex related links. Links to scn teams or clan websites are allowed though)

The first thing you should do is decide what do you want do display in your signature. Let's take a quote for example:

"We're not lost. We're locationally challenged." - John M. Ford

Next, we decide what kind of colors we use. We use RED in our quote:

"We're not lost. We're locationally challenged." - John M. Ford

Color tags:

Then, we decide wether we want to add some UBB code. We will use Bold and Italic.

Now we have created a nice sig. But, we can make it even look cooler, we're gonna use fading colors.

Fading colors are two colors combined and fade to each other:

Mark the stripe between the two color codes, this combines the two colors together, and makes them fade. Now some people have fading-fading (also known as double-fading) colors in the same sentence. "How the heck do they make such sigs?" you ask. Well, it's very easy to do. You have to use the same fading method, but you have to change the color codes.

Here's how it looks when using the fading colors:

The colors tags are right next to each other, using the same colors. That way, you have the fading-fading effect.

Image/Picture signatures

HG does not allow image signatures.

    Hexadecimals by Guzzardo23:
    The hex codes work in hexadecimal code. The digits are: 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E and F.
    You are given six spaces to put the digits, for RGB (Red, Green and Blue). So two sapces for each color. The max 'number' you can put for a color is FF, what is, in decimal mode, 255. So 0000FF gives you pure blue, FFFF00 Gives you yellow, and so on.

    000000 gives you black because there is no color, and FFFFFF gives you white because all the colors are at their max. 151515, C9C9C9, and other codes where the same two-digits number repeat three times give you different tones of grey.


    Also a very nifty program is Eyedropper, which automically gives the Hexadecimal/Color code with a mouse over. Foexample, if you go over the HG logo with your mouse it would give you blue and yellow color codes. The program can be download here.

    RGB Color system by Ticaios:There are six characters in a color. The first two are for red, the second two are for green and the last two are for blue. Red-Green-Blue=RGB.

    Each color (R, G and B) has a value. The value is not written using decimal system. In decimal system the base number is 10 (eg. 10*10=100). In RGB code the base number is 16 (24=16. A power of two is logical because of using binary system.), hence we need something to represent numbers 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

    This is where the letters come in:

    0=0
    1=1
    2=2
    3=3
    4=4
    5=5
    6=6
    7=7
    8=8
    9=9
    a=10
    b=11
    c=12
    d=13
    e=14
    f=15

    Some examples:
    00 = 0
    01 = 1
    0f = 15
    10 = 16
    ab = 171
    ff = 255

    Each color gets a value between 0 and 255, hence each color has 256 different values. Three colors can each have 256 different values, so the total amount of combinations is 2563=167.777.216.

    If you use the RGB code, browsers round the color to the nearest supported color. That's why numbers work better than words.

    Always remember to add "#" before the color code

    Another set of examples:
    #000000 = Black (Value of every color is 0)
    #ff0000 = Red (Value of red is 255, while green and blue are at 0)
    #aa0000 = Darker red (R=170,G=0,B=0)
    #ffffff = White (All values are at maximum. White is the sum of all colors. (I'm talking about light, since the computer screen generates light with different colors.))

    Go here to see some examples of RGB color codes.

    Some tips:

    1. Italizing quotes looks better
    2. Don't use too bright colors such as yellow, as they may not display correctly on light-themed forums such as AoMH.
    3. Don't make your signature too long, as it may screw up the page with a nasty horizontal scrollbar for example and it generally looks ugly.
    4. The codes -->[ubboff]and-->[ubbon] will disable and enable BBCodes respectively. It does not work on smileys.


    You can use whatever you want. Keep practicing until you like your sig.


    There's also a way to create "image" signatures. It involves turning off the text signature that comes with HG. After that, crop the signature "bar" with an image program. Simply paste the bar with your desire image from a picture hosting site such as imageshack or photobucket. However, this is frown upon by the community and is not recommended.
