The Battle of Bunker Hill
This scenario uses some custom files which are included in the zip. Check the ReadMe for instructions on installing and uninstalling. A list of all modified or new files is there also.
This scenario is for the Summer 2009 Scenario Design contest.
I was aiming for about 50-75% historical accuracy with this scenario based upon this article. Please take this into consideration when reviewing for Creativity.
The below mentioned bugs appear to be caused by other mods which were installed prior to the use of my mod. I have checked my files and can't find anywhere where these bugs would've been caused. Another Designer has also said that the bugs were caused by other mods and not by mine. |

The scenario itself would rank a 5/5 in total... good job
however this scenario has auto-deleted all my homecities..
one of which was level 112...
so this really angers me.
maybe you should have tested it on a different computer and you will see for yourself how annoying it is.
anyway excellent scenario just a few technical problems.... :( |

Thank you for the comment. You'll need to use the Post Review feature to rate my scenario.
I am very sorry to hear that your Homecity was deleted, and I apologize if it was my mod's fault.
Since you said one was level 112 they'd have to be a skirmish homecities. Which is strange because Homecity files are stored in My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\Savegame, which none of my files touched.
Unfortunately there's nothing I can do to restore your Homecities. But if you explain to me exactly how you installed my mods and scenario I may be able to figure out what happened to your Homecities and to alter my files so that it won't happen to anyone else.[Edited on 08/01/09 @ 07:49 PM]

Skyrate,
This is why I won't play/review your scenarios, the mods..."The Battle of Lexington and Concord" or "The Battle of Bunker Hill". They may be good but I'm not going to mess up my programs "cause you made a mistake"...You get your stuff together and convince me you got it right and I will play/review. No hard feelings, just protecting my files...
You have a month to edit your files...please let me know if you do...[Edited on 08/02/09 @ 03:03 AM]

Well, in this case I also think that it wasn't the mods fault, because skirmish home cities are saved in a entirely different location.
BTW I played Lexington and Concord and don't think the changes you made really need a mod. The only changed things I recognized were the guard skirmisher appearance and the heroes. The heroes could train skirmishers, but you could have just used barracks for that.
Also the background images for the resource count were just black even though I installed the mod as described in the readme. |

I'm sorry you feel that way, Teutonic. If you wish to keep your files safe you could always back them up by putting a complete copy of your AOE files on your desktop.
I still do not know why Skirmish files were affected by my mods. The only folder in My Games\Age of Empires III\ that I touched was the Scenario folder, in which my scenario file was supposed to be placed.
DeathCast: If I could've done my scenario without the use of special Mods I would've. But my special heroes have unique textures, anim files, and actions. Also both Lexington and Concord use my civ 'American Colony' and the player uses 'Duncan's Scouts'. Also, in the last bit of the scenario Minutemen are upgraded to Militiamen(which use the texture from Colonial Militia from TWC), and the Skirmishers are upgraded to Woodsmen Skirmishers and have a unique texture.
Check the ReadMe.txt for a full list of changed files. If you're an experienced modder you can see most of what was changed or added from there.
I don't know why the BG images of the resources would be black as I didn't touch those. I'll look into it though.[Edited on 08/02/09 @ 02:36 PM]

Well, I just wanted to mention that imo a mod wasn't really required for that.
But that's just my opinion.
And you don't have to look into that bug, I already finished the scenario. ;)
It seems that I was the only one with that bug anyway. |

I very much appreciate your thoughts and opinions. I'll keep that in mind when I make more scenarios.
Would you mind writing a review of this scenario using the Post Review feature? I would greatly appreciate a rated review :) |

Skyrate,
I'll try Darthcast suggestion/opinion and play it without the mod. |

First I'd like to stress that I talked about "The Battle of Lexington and Concord" the whole time. I'm sorry that I've posted that on this page, but I originally wanted to state that I don't think the homecities were messed up by this mod...
So I'm continuing the discussion about "The Battle of Lexington of Concord" in the right thread before this one becomes even more confusing.
Teutonic Twit,
I guess my posting was mistakable, I didn't mean it is possible to play without the mod. I meant that imo "The Battle of Lexington and Concord" could have been designed without modding since (besides the units appeareances) all that was changed afaik were that the heroes can train skirmishers - and for that, barracks could have been used. (They only need to train units while in a town anyway)
Of course whether to create a mod or not is the designers decision, but one should always consider that many users don't like the additional, more complex installation or even think a mod will mess up the game. This of course, is just my opinion. |

Darthcast,Skyrate,
Again, I'm sorry I confused the issue by posting the same thing in both scenarios. I played this one also without the mods, got my butt kicked, did kill over 700 Brits using the natives...won't review unless I do mods...
Darthcast, I now realize what you meant by the barracks comment, my bad for misunderstanding.
THIS IS CONSIDERED TO BE CONSTRUCTIVE DISCUSSION, NOT NEGATIVE COMMENT...
I do agree with Darthcast mods were not necessary, and this scenario (appears pretty good)would do better without the mods. Mods for some of us are like "the other side of the moon". I read the "readme" (was finally able to load, thx Skyrate for your input)and just didn't want to deal with all the back and forth complex installation/changes. Figured I'd screw something up.
I have downloaded mods in AOE1 & AOE2 and messed up by files, will not do it again. I appreciate and envy designers like you Skyrate, who can create mods etc. to the game but I just wish you guys would make scenarios within the original perimeters/limitations of the game.
On the upside, I would say this scenario has a good map (4+), instructions/story (4+), and Creativity (5-). Sorry I won't be reviewing... [Edited on 08/02/09 @ 10:49 PM]
