~BRAVEST OF THE NINE~
This is a story relating to the last scenes of The Fellowship of the Ring. It has a battle for Lorien, which never took place in the book or movie, but then the second one concerns the last hours of Boromir which I think I depicted VERY well. It has some nice sound effects added too.

~Many thanks to all my play-testers which I wrote down in the "Scouts" section.
~A large review Mashek sent me for this a long time ago.
~I give credit to:
Lord Basse
Mashek
and a few other person who I'm not sure of for the sounds and music.

You will not find this campaign to be perfect. There were many areas that I skipped over fixing, but I'm not heavily focused on this game. I have others far better that I'm working on. But I wanted to update this at least once.
Thanks For playing this game and please comment or review,

Playability: 4
This Campaign was fun and I enjoyed it, but there were a few bugs. Like in the last level where you have to eventually seek out the orcs to win and some names not changed. Not that that is bad or anything, but having a victory condition for the last level would be good.
Balance: 5
This Campaign was very balanced. Even though the enmy had a lot more men, you had more archers and stuff to hide behind and stronger men. Even though you got towers, you still only won by a little.
Creativity: 3
The author had some nice tricks, like frodo and sam getting in the boat and the orcs pouring out from there walls, but nothing over the top. nontheless the creativity was fit for this campaign.
Map Design: 4
The map was very well designed. I would give this a 5, if only all of your map had the same touch you put into the corner that the battle took place in. Try using a smaller map and designing the whole thing, rather than using a large map and designing only a corner.
Story/Instructions: 3
There wasn't much story because I think most people have seen The Lord of the Rings, but what if some havn't. Even if no one ever plays this that hasn't, people still like to read a good story about the level.
About the instructions. The first level's instructions were great but the second level was a bit confusing at first, like i said earlier, when you have to go looking for the other orcs to win. instead of declaring victory when you successfully defended the camp.
Additional Comments:
Overall this was an enjoyable campaign and though ther were some bugs I still enjoyed it. Maybe try fixing some and updating it.

I like the scenario, although its very short and very small. And I don't think you need very much instructions, as said before, (almost) everyone has seen the LOTR Trilogy.
But the cutscene was very short. You could have made it longer and have some more orcs. But it this campaign is good. I would also give review, but you have to write so much text then and my fingers are tired after writing som much today. Mabe later. |

I had a quick shot at this - good game. I'd say the film-type parts are your strong point. The Amon Hen level reminded me strongly of watching the film. If you could mix things like that in with parts where you actually play, we'd be in for a cracking game! |

Playability: 3
The campaign (or the playable scenario) was enjoyable and fun. The heroes are very strong, but thats neccesary and totally understandable. But a few things I don't get. Like the army of orcs in the beginning screen. What are they for, and why do they just disappear after that? Are they those orcs that the walls are made for? Propably. And why only use a corner of a map as battlefield? You could have used a smaller map instead That would look better and take less space. Well for the scenario thats all, but the cutscene afterwards could have been longer and more detailed. Add some more orcs and names to the characters would be good.
And the most irritating thing was the instructions-as-chat thing. It's much better to use instructions instead, cause they are much easier to see.
Balance: 5
The game was very baanced with hordes of orcs and only a few allied soldiers. With your strong heroes you could defeat them with only 10 men left or so. Your allies wheren't very strong either, also neccesary for making it harder. But as I said before, the cutscene could be longer and have more soldiers placed out.
Creativity: 3
There wheren't a lot of new stuff, but still its very enjoyable and really worth playing. Everyone who reads this must download!
As The_Slayer90 said, there where some nice tricks like the orcs rush.
Although creativity isn't the most important for a campaign based on a movie.
Map Design: 3
As said before, you could use a smaller map. You also could add some elevations outside the city and mabe more than just leaves on the ground. Like dirt3 or grass2. Some bushes would be nice to.
The city itself was well designed and built up perfect for defensive strategies, except there are no gates, but if there where it would be all to easy.
The cutscene could have much more details like bushes, some trees and more elevations. You should add more other styles than leaves here to.
Story/Instructions: 3
There was a lack of instructions, although there where pretty good hints. Although almost everyone has seen the trilogy, it would be nice with some more instructions.
The most irritating thing was the chat instead of instructions method, but I've already told you about that.
Additional Comments:
If Boromir himself would see this, he would be proud.
+ Very balanced
+ Very Enjoyable
+ Some nice design tricks
+ Well built up
+ Strong heroes and massive enemy armies
- Ingame instructions where chats
- To few terrain details
- Cutscene could have been longer and more detailed
- small useage of large map
- Could have been more pregame instructions although its not extremly neccesary
Summary:
Its a very good campaign that all LOTR lovers should download. Not only LOTR lovers YOU to. Yes you! Exactly!
(To the creator: Here is your review. May you review my The Story of Kerokato part 1/The people of the forests? Please! I have only got one comment there yet!) |
