If anyone has any good ideas for rpg triggers please post them here. Right now I'm looking for an unlimited level-up trigger.

Simply put:

Trigger1 loop

Condition: accumulate attributes: Kills, (the number of kills you want to level up 1)
Effect: Change Object HP(make it higher)
Effect: Change Object Attack(make it higher)
Effect: Display instructions(tell the player they advanced 1 level)

Or if you want exp, which is a little bit more messier.

Trigger1 loop

Condition1: accumulate attributes: kills, quantity: 1
Effect: Tribute(let 1 super resource computer tribute you a stockpile as exp, I use stone)

Trigger2 loop

Condition: accumulate attributes: your exp stockpile, a amount of exp as quantity
Effect: Change Object HP(make it higher)
Effect: Change Object Attack(make it higher)
Effect: Display instructions(tell the player they advanced 1 level)

Actually, for a loop:
(mana gb, with # of kills, you have to make loads and loads of trigs)

Trigger 1:
Start: ON
Objective: NO
Loop: YES
Condition:
Kill Ratio = 1
Effect: Change Object HP (#)
Effect: Change Object Attack (#)
Effect: Create Object (object) [Area=small, desolate area of the map] IT BELONGS TO PLAYER 1!!!
Effect: Kill Object (that object)

**Based on the number of kill ratios, the reward should get larger or smaller. Example: Kill Ratio 1 = Atk +1, HP +1
Kill Ratio 5 (if you chose to do 5) = Atk +3, HP +3

You must create and kill more objects as ratio increases, however.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! What I mean is, well, on this one scenario that I downloaded, every character could regenerate health like the viking. I suppose that it was from triggers, but on the scenario editor they made all the triggers invisible so I can't look at them.

Hey, i was playin an RPG once, (i cant remember what it was)
but in the beggining, you were to either type "1" or "2" in the chat box, decided what player you played as,
no i dont care bout the effect of what player
but how do i make a "1" or "2" condition, if I could figure this out, im going to set up a shop in my scn,
do any scns have shops?
i did have a primitive shop once, but it was wierd.

so any ways, what I'm asking is

Condition- hit one
effect: turn into archer.
effect:tribute 50 gold from player 1 to player 2(shopkeeper)

thanks in advance

Instead of opening another thread I'll ask help here...

How does the speed timer work?
I have a 39sec music file and want that to repeat with the less amount of spacing possible. Have used a condition of 39s timer but that only worked on slow, anyway I can make it work on normal or fast without having it overlap?
Or am I better making the whole campaign slow?

well, when I get a new PC, i'll work on it, and if I figure it out, i'll tell ya.
I'm not sure what the "AI Signal" condition does, but I've wondering if that was the key.
I'm reading some trigger articles right now.

Maybe they did something like this:

It was a custom AI, in which if you type 1, one of the computers act something like: kill their only barracks. And if you type 2, then the computer might kill their only archery range.

In the editor, they made a useless computer player who just deals with these stuff(something like "The Visions of Valhalia"(I think that's what it was called) player in Gyda's Challenge) And simply gave it a Range and a Barracks.

Then set trigger: If Range Dies, you play as one side, And If barracks dies, then you play as the other side.

I don't know, I'm not really into AI editing and I wonder if you can do that. But if you can, then that might be it...

Actually, the trigger I think you mean is:

(example)
~~~Trigger1 name: Main Hero= Sir <something>
Condition: Researching Tech = Yes (in researching tech, the taunts are included, so if you press the number of that taunt it activate all the effects below)
Effect1: Change ownership = Sir <something> from player x to player 1
Effect2: Change view to your new character.
Effect3: Deactivate trigger = Main Hero= Sir <wilkommen>
EffectX: Do several other miscallenous unimportant effects here, too (like activating music, and removing the hero who is not on your side)
~~~Trigger2 name: Main Hero= Sir <wilkommen>
Condition: Researching Tech = No
Effect1: Change ownership = Sir <wilkommen> from player x to player 1
Effect2: Change view to your new character.
Effect3: Deactivate trigger = Main Hero= Sir <something>
EffectX: Do several other miscallenous unimportant effects here.

Hope this helps

If you have anything to add to these triggers, please post here and tell me.

Instead of sending chats, Its so much easier to condotion: object selected,(multiple choices) if that will work for you. like in Titulus invaders.

RPG tricks on the line of unlimited:
Ok, this takes a wholw bum load of triggers, but I got an ally market/ merchant that trades with you at a fixed rate; counts your resource, takes it, and gives you the right ammount back. (ok, it's only between two resources) But the sweet thing is that I got it to loop so that you can trade some, go get some more, come back and trade some more, forever. since I'm terrible at expalining triggers, I'll just mail it... Wait, this is my super secret. But I have faith in your guys, you can figure it out.

Its not AI signal, and I think I'll just stick with "object in area" and "Object Selected" combo condition.

Actually, it is the AI signal, but I have no use for it.
But, if you wanted a choice of maybe

You start SCN as simple infantry,
you find the shop guy,

he has 3 choices of equipment to buy

You have to do some AI scripting, ( i donno how)
any way you do the sripting so that these triggers work

Trigger 1:
Condition 0:AI Signal
AI Signal 1
Condition 1:Object in Area
(have the player be in a changing area or shop area)
Condition 2:Accumulate Tribute
(how ever much of what you want it to cost)

effect 0:Tribute
Source:Player 1
Target:Player X(shop player)
and choose what and how much you want it to cost.

effect 1estroy Object(the original person)
effect 2:Create Object
Player 1
Arbalest

Trigger 2
for Champion
Condition 0:AI Signal
AI Signal: 2
Condition 1:Object in Area
(have the player be in a changing area or shop area)
Condition 2:Accumulate Tribute
(how ever much of what you want it to cost)

effect 0:Tribute
Source:Player 1
Target:Player X(shop player)
and choose what and how much you want it to cost.

effect 1estroy Object(the original person)
effect 2:Create Object
Player 1
Champion

and so on and so on

I guess you could make it do any effect you want, maybe some one who knows more about AI scripting could explain it better. BEcause, i know POO about AI stuff.

Yeah, I wish the AI editors were like starcraft.

I've been thinking... (uh oh) In real rpgs, you get in fights in random spots, like final fantasy style. what i'm working on is a practice arena, where you can fight as many guys as you want, over and over, to gain experience, (add hp/ att) and it's like a ring: "do you want another fight? click on the barracks..." or leave the arena. I remember the days when we just played and played f.f.7 till 3 am, simply getting hp bonuses and stuff. this would draw away from the monotonous set objectives of aok, like goofing around before you go into the big battle, etc..(remember chocobos?!) ...loads more hours on the campaign. Is this an idea that ppl would like to see in an rpg?

One other thing, I know how I could make the practice arena, do you mind if i do one?
Also, near the ring, have a "hospital" that heals you.
You click on the building,
you tribute it 50 gold (or whateve)
you get a monk 30 time.
you heal your self.
then he changes back to the hospital player, or,

would task object make the monk heal you with out changing ownership back and forth?
I'll play around with some ideas if you let me.

I have a idea for a unlimited level-up trigger,but you have to know how much enemys are on the map ,you need a big free place,which isn't seen by the player and it can be only make for single player:

In the example the enemy has 60 units,you advance after killing 5 units
Trigger1 looping=on active=yes
Condition:Player2(enemy) less units:55
Effect:Chat(next level reached)
Effect:more HP or attack
Effect:create 5 units at the free place

This should work!

posted 03-23-02 06:28 PM CT (US)     31 / 47
Create killer leaves!

Lay down a patch of leaves, then do this:

Trigger1:
Looping:Yes

Condition:
Bring object to area(leaves)
Damage unit (pick how much to take off)

You can do this with fish, farms, anything you can walk on!

Unlimited levels:
i.e. every 5 kills you get 5 hp, 1 attack

Trigger 0
Looped=Yes
Condition: Accumulate attribute Kill ratio:5 Player:1
Effect: Create object Champion in position a
Effect: Create object Champion in position b
Effect: Create object Champion in position c
Effect: Create object Champion in position d
Effect: Create object Champion in position e
Effect: Kill objects: champion in positions a,b,c,d,e
Effect: Change object hp player 1: 5
Effect: Change object attack player 1: 1
Effect: Send chat message: you have leveled up
Effect: Tribute 1 stone to player 1

In this case, the player can look at the amount of stone he has to see his current level.

I have the level up as accumulate atribute
player 1
kills:5
as condition
for effect i have it raise HP and attack, but I can either make it give every one HP and Attack, or to one guy, is there a way to make it so that the unit that makes the kills gets the HP and ATTACK? Cause i will have 3 units.

for a training area, just have the level up trig, and make it so that
Condition 0:Objet in Area (ytraining area)
1:accumulate attribute what you want it to costs)

effect : Display Instructions, beef talk and what not
effect create object-eneny unit
effect:tribute(what ever you had it set in condition.

Hey, Outlaw... I don't think what you want is possible but why not do this:

Every kill give player 1 food or 1 point (food, lumber or whatever)
Then after battle the character can go to this place and choose to which character give the xp points to

If you understood me feel free to use, I'm inserting it into my campaign and as far as I know it is unique idea (if it's not don't need to mention me and I'd appreciate if you warned me [counting most of my creativity on this feature])
