Topic Subject: Article: All of the magical numbers in AOK:TC
posted 07-21-03 06:02 PM CT (US)
As all of you know, there are many magic numbers in the world of AOK:TC. They include:

63: The maximum number of words that you can enter for the effect"Send Chat".
255: The maximum number of words that you can enter for the effects"Display message"and "Change Object's Name".
32767: The maximum number that you can set for the units' attack point or maximum hit point.
65536: Treated as 0 by the effects "Change Object's Attack" and "Change Object's Hit Point".
Minus number: Reverse the effects "Change Object's Attack", "Change Object's Hit Point" and "Damage Object".
73741824: The maximum damage you can do to unit by the effect "Damage Object".
-536870912: An important number to make the following "(sum)" numbers working properly.
-2147483647(sum): The maximum cure you can do to unit by the reversed effect "Damage Object".
-2147483648 to -4294967295(sum): If it is entered in the reversed effect "Damage Object", the unit will have (4294967296 + number, but as a minus number) as its HP. -2147483648 is always set by 4 x -536870912.
-4294967296(sum): Should it is entered in the reversed effect "Damage Object", the unit (despite how many its maximum hit point is) will become invincible as a "HP0/X" (some of them won't have their hp shown as this, but the effect is the same) unit, which can be done by other trigger tricks. Always set by 8 x -536870912.
-4294967297(sum): Same as -1.
-6442450943(sum): Same as -2147483647.
-6442450944 to -8589934591(sum): Same as -2147483648 to -4294967295.
4294967296: Treated as 0 by the effect "Damage Object".
2147483648: Numbers greater than this number and smaller than 3221225472 can change units' hit point into minus number in the effect"Damage Object".
3221225472: Numbers greater than this number and smaller than 4294967296 recover units in the effect"Damage Object".
6442450944: Same as 2147483648.
7516192798: Same as 3221225472.
16777216: The newborn number than can cause a "heroization". Read this for more information.

Supplement by CrystalCrown(HG Cherub):
4294967296: Beside using as a 0 in the effect "Damage Object", it can also be used as an overflow number for Negative "Tributes" effect.

Note: The numbers annoted with "(sum)" mean you need to have more than one effect to have a sum as the number in a same trigger, because you can not enter as many digits as it in AOK:TC.

You "forgot" the number, 4294967296, for tributing. It's used as the overflow number for negative tributes.

Wow, this clears up a lot.

I think this should be stickied, since it basically covers all of the common (and not so common) "magic" numbers.

I don't think many people (especially newbies) even look at the Scenario Design Library.

Great article. This should be on the news.

Yes, and so should this, but I guess Aro is busy (and Phil hasn't been on for a while).

I'll post news about both of them. RL has been kind of busy for me which is why I haven't been on a lot.

BTW, the SD Library has almost 2000 page views and is only about 5 months old. People look at it, but it just never has replies.

Added some supplement, including how to set up effects for "(sum)" numbers.

I dont post ever on Hg, but as I read the HP number I thought back to a game where I had a unit with 3041548hp. Maby you dont belive me, or you might, but I got a screen shot of it!

T_C I hope you can answer him! *stands thinking about it* of coarse he can, He's a genius!

Quote:

32767: The maximum number that you can set for the units' attack point or maximum hit point.

That's the total number of hit points a unit can have? Actually it's not quite true, I can get a gate to have somewhere in the region of millions, it's the old gate bug and strange things start to happen, I'm quite sure the magic number 32760 is correct, this is the maximum number for putting in to the change hp and change attack effect, but this doesn’t necessarily mean the max it could have!
Anyway I know T_C can explain it better than me! And blow us away with some strange fact we never knew.

posted 08-02-03 09:07 AM CT (US)     20 / 25
Well I had the unit with 3 million Hp as a Villager, though it was 3million/7400.
posted 08-02-03 02:02 PM CT (US)     21 / 25
Well, actually I should improve my English before I answer your question...

32767 is the limit of the maximum hitpoint but not current hitpoint. Furthermore, 4294967296 to -4294967296 is the range of the current hitpoint, and 3041548 is surely within this range.

For the case zBurito mentioned, it may be like this:

1.Villager has his/her maximum hitpoint changed by trigger.(like 40/40 to 80/80)
2.Villager has been tasked to do another task instead of the original one.(Bug: current hp stand no changes but the maxmium hp was back to 40)
3.Villager has his/her maximum hitpoint changed by trigger again, and the percentage counting is working. (like 80/40 to 160/80)

See, I knew T_C could answer this better than anyone

T_C could I ask a question, how on earth did you ever discover all these numbers? I find it fascinating.

posted 08-03-03 00:03 AM CT (US)     23 / 25
Well, actually there were 4 researchers as above-mentioned in the article. I am just performing as the leader of the team.

For the numbers I discovered, I guessed by:

2^16=65536
2^31=2147483648
2^32=4294967296
65535/2=32767.5

Same things happen to the stone gate as villager when trigger does something on the change HP.

Kevin, although you'll never be able to reply or anything, this is why. Aro posted the Scenario Design Library thread, and deleted all the posts that were in it.

There is a thing which happens to a thread when it does not have any new replies in a ceratin amount of days (30, I believe). The thread "expires", and you're not allowed to post in it.

As Aro deleted the replies, and the thread had been over 30 days old, the thread expired. So now no one can post in it.
