TeamSpeak



TeamSpeak is a program that you can use to chat to people in game, and by chat I mean talk. What is required to use TeamSpeak is a microphone (headsets work well), and the software. You can download the software from http://goteamspeak.com.

Here is how to connect to the HeavenGames TeamSpeak server.
1. Download Teamspeak
2. Set up your mic/headset
3. Open up Teamspeak
4. Go to 'Quick Connect' under the connections menu
5. In the 'Connect to' field, type in teamspeak.heavengames.com
6. Join a the AoMH lobby by double clicking on AoM lounge.

You can meet people here and chat with them for a better, faster way of communication during online games. Or if you just feel like chatting with someone, whatever.

Questions, comments, requests? Post here. Also, it might be a good idea to keep a list of everyone who has a mic.

I have TS and Skype. TS has terrible sound reception though. Skype is much better.

woot for me! I don't really think of accents any different then anything else unless they say something that brings out their accent massively like "mate". A chick in my grade was born in australia but went off to america in 1996 and then to the phillipians 1999 (I don't know how to spell that) and only recently came back 2007. err I downloaded. I connected and found many lounges related to AoM but its fine. Though it seems everyone is shy about their voice so no one is actually connected to the server LOL

I would like to know more background information on TeamSpeak.

  • Does the software telephone "home" to the TeamSpeak company in one way or another? Possibly relaying information about your computer?

  • Are there any commercials in the TeamSpeak software? (These would have to be downloaded from somewhere, further pointing towards telephoning home.)

  • Wasn't TeamSpeak once owned by Microsoft? I remember that they were once offering such a software under their "Sidewinder" logo (under which they sold a variety of gaming products, such as joysticks and even the "Sidewinder StrategicCommander", a supporting device for RTS games). Microsoft acquired the technology by buying the old Battle.com software, which was the leading headset communication software back in old Starcraft times. Did Microsoft sell this afterwards, so that it is now run by an independent company, or am I completely mistaken and TeamSpeak has nothing to do with the game communication software that Microsoft used to offer?

    As far as I know, the software directly connects to HG, and nowhere else, and there are no ads. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure. And I have no idea about your last question.

    I know it looks not so good but the point is that it is so light that it won't lag AoM ESO and doesn't use windows when minimized

    Same goes for old Battle.com, which you could run over a 56k modem connection and still play Starcraft over that connection without lag. Another program of that type is Buddyphone.

    Back then, broadband connections were rare, and analog modem connections even more widespread than today, so chat programs had to be economic with the bandwidth.

    Man I have been on it for the whole day once but I still think it is low on people and that you would agree on that statement. Right now I don't have AoM so I don't need to get logged on. Hopefully meet you when school starts off again
