Topic Subject: Can Set priests convert BIRDS??

I was just thinking back to AoK, where those golden-brown eagles would circle the map occassionally.

If there are any birds in AoM, will Set be able to convert them? They can't be used for food or attack, but they would be the BEST scouts! And if so, will archers be able to attack birds?

Perhaps...

A) can't convert birds

B) convert them, but can be shot down and do not have great LOS

C) can convert them only after researching a 2nd age tech

For now, I am inclined to say A, cuz I believe Priests are melee units, ruling out the possibility of converting birds.

I guess A also.
Even if they could technically, I guess the bird won't stay in its place long enough so the priest will be able to convert it.

I agree with A as well, I mean, no one ever pays any attention to birds and that would be a major waste of time shooting down EVERY bird.

I think B but they DO have a large line of sight. Haven't you ever heard the expression "Eagle Eyes"

Player right clicks four times before actually getting the priest to target the bird. Priest begins waving staff around and chanting, but before he can convert, the bird has dissapeared into the fog again.

I envisage that happening...

The priest sees the fat juicy boar, and thinks how good it would be to convert it and lead home. The priest gets ownzed by the boar. I envision this happening too

the player really want's to convert a bird, makes 15 priests, realises that he cant anyway. i really see that happening aswell.

I'm with A. Birds probably just fly around for a visual.

I like how you could kill a bird and it exploded. I forget which game it was though, AoE or AoK.

I'd have to agree that it is probably A

Although, controlling birds would be interesting.

If I recall, there was a cheat from AoK which allowed you to control Gaia, which included Birds. Although, the birds didn't really do what you wanted to do, you got to see their LOS.

I thought ES said you couldn't convert at all anymore.

Birds explode in AOK too. That's how us scenario editors make huge explosions.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that you WILL be able to convert birds! One of the most fun things in Starcraft was to parasite flying units with Queens and then they would fly over the enemy base unnoticed!
