If I'm not mistaken, the Nidhogg won my last poll, so here it is! I used all bronze, iron, copper, heavy, medieum, champion, age upgrades etc. I don't want a mess like my last guide... Anyway, as always, first I'll list the stats.
Hitpoints: 2000
Crush Damage: 40
Hack Damage: 30
Pierce Armor: 64%
Hack Armor: 50%
Speed: 3.7
Special: The Nidhogg is a one shot deal, and, as in most units like this, (the SoO comes to mind) he cannot be healed. Also, he does some splash damage with his fire attack. (like the Phoniex) The closer to the center of his attack, the more damage the enemy takes. It also flies, so melee units can't attack it.
Looks good so far, right? Well, let's test it out first.
Test 1: 1 Nidhogg vs. 3 Hoplites
The Nidhogg wins (duh) in 102 seconds. The Nidhogg does approx. 16 damage per attack to the Hoplites. The reason it took so long is because the hoplites ran away and the Nidhogg had to chase them down.
Test 2: 1 Nidhogg vs. 3 Toxtotes
The Nidhogg won in 14 seconds with 1876 hp left. Man, not good. It took all that damage from just three toxtotes!
Test 3: 1 Nidhogg vs. 3 Egyptian priests (I didn't forget the Age this time The priests won 44 seconds. None of the priests were killed and they were back to full hp in less than 20 seconds. Man! The Nidhogg got destroyed by the weakest heroes in the game! This doesn't look good for the Nidhogg.... Maybe building killer is more up it's alley... The Nidhogg destroyed the house in 14 seconds. It did about 40 damage per hit. This did pretty well compared to the Sphinx, Heka-Gigantes, and other building killers. Test 5: 1 Nidhogg vs. 1 Fortress The Fortress's attack does 4 damage to the Nidhogg. The Nidhogg does 59 damage per hit. The Nidhogg won in 72 seconds with 1450 hp left. The Nidhogg, despite all it's hp, doesn't take damage well.... Test 6: Same as test 4, only the Nidhogg is replaced by a Phoniex, a smaller version of the Nidhogg. The Phoniex destroyed the greek house in 27 seconds, compared with the Nidhogg's time of 14 seconds. Test 7: 1 phoniex vs. 3 Toxtotes The Phoniex won in 26 seconds with 133 hp out of 400 left. Takes to much damage to.... WHEW! tests over. What conclusions can we get from these tests? General use: Keep the Nidhogg away from ranged units and especially ranged heroes. Since it can't be healed, it keeps every bit of damage it takes. Best to supplement your normal army. Vs. Egyptians. The Nidhogg is very poor vs. the Egyptians. Their cheap ranged heroes will kill the Nidhogg in no time. If you have to use the Nidhogg against the Eggy, be sure to take out their priests and other heroes. Vs. Norse. The Nidhogg is probably best against other norse players. The Norse's lack of ranged units and weak buildings make the Nidhogg perfect for fighting the Norse. But with the Ax of Muspell, massed axemen can be very efective, destroy them if you encounter them. Vs. Greeks. The Nidhogg is ok vs. the greeks. (As long as he doesn't still have bolt Vs. Atlanteans. It really depends. If they go heavy on Arcus's, Chrieoballista or Turma's, your in trouble. If they go more for fanatics, murmillos, and only a couple of ranged units, your golden. (Just be sure to take out their hero Arcus's How to Counter... With Eggy: It's very simple. get about 6 or 7, preferably more, priests attacking the Nidhogg and it will be killed in less than 30 seconds. Just keep your priests protected and that Nidhogg is history. If you're short on priests, Chariots or Slingers will work to a lesser degree. With Norse: I pity you already if you don't have the ax of Muspell. Your options are few and not very good anyway. Massing Throwing Axemen will work. Another bet is to use trolls, or, if you chose Hel also, Fire Giants to attack the nidhogg. With Greeks: Just save bolt With Atlanteans: You have several choices. You can either get Arcus's, Chrioballista's, or Turma's. (For best results, make the Arcus's and turma's heroes) Although the Chrieo ballista is the best, Arcus's will be almost as good (and better if you make them heroes) The Turma's will do ok, but shouldn't be your first choice. Just keep your long ranged units protected from any Raiding Calvary or huskrals he will probably bring along, and you'll be fine. Techs: They benefit Myth Units Rampage: Cost: 300 gold, 20 favor, Myth units trained nearly instantly. This is a useful tech if you are in a long permenant battle where you are getting tons of favor. Otherwise, if you and your opponent aren't creating a bloodbath, skip it. Granite Blood: Improves the hp. of the Fire, Frost, and mountain Giant. Cost: 600 wood, 30 favor. This is another maybe get tech. if you use the Giants, then it's advisable to get this tech, otherwise, don't wate your money (err, resources). Myth Units: Mountain Giant, Frost Giant, Fire giant. Best MU: I'd say the fire Giant. it's pretty costly, but it hurls powerful fireball from long range and is tough to kill. Very powerful. Well, my guide is done. If you liked it, please vote on the next one. If you didn't like it, please give me some suggestions as to how I may improve it. Also, don't vote on anything that already has a quality Guide. NOTE: I can't think of what to write on next, so just vote on whatever you feel like. EDIT: I did some tests with the Axe of Muspell. The Axeman was killed in 11 seconds, gave 5 damage per hit, and gave a total 38 damage. The Nidhogg won, the Axeman gave 14 damage per hit and gave a total of 123 damage. Test 4: 1 Nidhogg vs. 1 Greek house.
And now, as i usually do, I will take a bit about the minor god, Hel, that you get the Nidhogg from. She's the freaky half dead, half alive Mythic Norse Goddess. She is only avaliable if you are playing as Loki.
God power: Summons the Nidhogg
First, 1 throwing axeman without the ax vs. 1 nidhogg
Now, with the Ax.
