By "bonus", I meant the multiplier V.S. human units that all MU's recieve. Hence a statistically weaker Automaton will beat a statistically stronger Murmillo.
Of course, when one goes Leto, yeah, they are very susceptible to a rush and that's the risk you take. Leto's pretty useless early game.
But realistically, one hero can take more than 1 MU. And I repeat, if the the opponents are evenly matched, the one defending the rush should technically have just as much resources/military power/potential for military power as the other. The defensive player also has TC/if applicable, Tower fire on their side, and in an even match, they should be able to negate everything the attacker throws at them (and then some, due to Tower/TC support). And if that's not the case, it's obviously due to a skill difference.
If the guy is Turma/MU spamming, all you have to do is upgrade your towers and save a bit of resources for maybe 3 hero murmilloes (my preference), or if you prefer, Turmas (maybe the cost of about 6 units in total, which isn't much). After that, the opponent can't do a thing. If Turmas get close, back off and let the towers handle them, and if MU's get close, you slaughter them with your heroes. As long as you have 3 or so barracks churning out murmillo, the other guy is dead. His FB will be gone, because Turma's can't do a thing about a few Murmilloes destroying their buildings while they're chased off by another group of them. It's just a matter of pushing him back and taking his settlements from there.
You really have to think about it - if the other guy is able to beat you, he must have more/better military units, and if that's the case, he's better at the game than you, and so there's no discussion over who should win.
