Reyk's Lists may list most of the sounds, but they do not really tell you what the sounds are. Here, a list of unique sounds will be compiled. Not every sound. But sounds that might be hard to find or figure out.

This list assumes you extracted all sounds or have a list of them. To get a list of all sounds or extract them, see in red below.

Post your findings here or ask questions.
---------------------------------------------------------
HARD TO FIND

AOM Titans ONLY
- Backtowork.wav - ungarrison.
- tumble#.wav - This is the sound of a collapsing "Bolder Rolling" object. Replace # with a number 1-7.
- xnew_objective.wav - same as new_objective.wav
- xwin.wav - same as win.wav

AOM All Versions
- fanfare.wav - the sound effect of destroying a temple in "North" scenario.
- Find.wav - The sound of herd animals converting.
- new_objective.wav - the sound of a new objective given.
- pigout.wav - the sound of pigs turning back to men in "Old Friends" scenario.
- win.wav - the sound of winning a scenario.
--------------------------------------------------------
INTERESTING SOUNDS

AOM Titans ONLY
- Favordump.wav - a sort of "ding" like from cashier machine.
- gaiaforestambient#.wav - Good for nature theme. Replace # with 1 or 2.
- Sounds/cinematic/13_out/stairsbang# - Replace # with a number 1-7. These are sounds of distant echoey clangs. Sorta like when something jumps out at you in a scary movie.

AOM All Versions
- chatreceived.wav - the sound of chat being sent.
- townattacked.wav - strange sound like broken horn.
- wild.wav - a sort of crazy animal noise. Nice for cursed places.
- wolfhowl.wav and wolfpack.wav - wolf howls.
---------------------------------------------------------
TO EXTRACT ALL SOUNDS FROM THE GAME
1) Download AOMed
2) Open AOMed and set the sounds.bar or sounds2.bar (Titans sounds) as the input data file. The bar files are found in your main Age of Mythology folder > sounds
3) Pick somewhere for the "Folder to Extract Data Into". I suggest making a new folder just for this as there are a lot.
4) Click Read Data File.

---------------------------------------------------
These are off the top of my head so post if you have requests or findings.

AlexanderGreat3 also compiled a list for AOM Vanilla HERE

My questions:
1) Is favordump.wav ever used?
2) Is townattacked.wav ever used?

Dunno, ES likes to add quirky sound and music filenames.

Great job, pftq, a list like this is always useful.

I've made a list of most of AoM sounds, and they're in MS Word that can be downloaded here: http://aom.heavengames.com/downloads/getfile.php?id=708&dd=1&s=60d7a4afb5abbd0e172bc2e2995e9458

The list is organized alphabetically and is really easy to use. The only thing is that it hasn't been updated for AoM:TT.

Nice, I'll add that link to main post.

But I don't see the jerrygarcia sound file. Where is it?

Found it - sounds/cinematics/13_in

It's just some weird echoey noise. Think I should list it?

Its up to you, I just found it very strange that they named it that.

townattacked I think is used whenever an enemy player is attacking you. There's another sound like a lion growling or roaring or whatever, that's if any Nature-owned units (eg Bears, Wolves, Chaosed units) are attacking you. Funny, I didn't know what that was until I scrolled the minimap over to where the red arrows appeared in a scenario (I think it's the third one in AOM vanilla) and saw the other player killing my villies. I learned to acknowledge the sound quickly afterwards

Hey guys I found a whole bunch of cool sounds.

Ever wanted to make a sorta Haunted House sound effect?

Go to Sounds/cinematic/13_out

The "Stairsbang#" are awesome.

You can loop the same track and it'll sorta be like the scenes where something jumps out at ya.

That's a good find.

Anyone know what the sound is called when you don't have enough resources to buy something???

Can't find it...
