Topic Subject: Sun Inclination trigger request! (Sun rotation too but not so important)

I have been trying for ages to make a sun rotation and a sun inclination trigger to adjust them. It is really annoying because nothing seems to work. I have been through the editor and found some commands to adjust the sun inclination:


SunDecreaseInclination - increases it
SunIncreaseInclination - decreases it
SunIncreaseInclination(1) - stops it

Tried the following commads with triggers in which none of them work:

SunIncreaseInclination(1);
SunIncreaseInclination(0);
SunIncreaseInclination();
SunIncreaseInclination;

Theroetically, it should work but it hasn't. What am I doing wrong? I am actually not having just not working but also a syntax error too!

And you are trying to put these into send chat I assume?

If so, you shoudlnt' get syntax errors as it's all in string. It would simply stop working (like a broken trigger)

If you do get syntax errors, it's something else in the script.

No, I am using xs user code which is the same as that send chat thing except that you just have the box where you put the code in. I use the send chat thing on random maps though because not everyone has xs user code.

Found these commands in the lighting file. Unfortunately, the command cases are wrong:

\\lighting set file

LightingSet "Alfheim"

suncolor 255 220 90

sunspecular 74.000000 65.000000 114.000001

ambientcolor 57 40 86

terrainambientcolor 192 255 255

suninclination 53

sunrotation 344


I have tried the sun inclination command in every case command I could think of but it doesn't work.

Well yes - if you think about it, when you use the scenario editor and save the scenario, int converts all the effects/conditions to raw commands.

aka Mod Proto gets changed to trModifyProtounit when you save the scenario.

However, in RMS, you are not converting anything (no editor) and they use the triggers file to do so (which not everyone has the same).

Anyways back to your question:

Did you try sunInclination?

I noticed that Reyk (who made most of them into trigger effects already ) capitalized the second word only.

Thats what I have been trying. I tried every case possible but it just doesn't work. The rotation and inclination are like the only commands that are in the uieditormenu that cause a syntax when I put it in code.

Did you try starting with one of Reyk's triggers as base first? And just editting from there - might be less chance of error.

Or it could be that these can't be done since Reyk obviously skipped them.
