Topic Subject: How to make water rise gradurally on a multiplayer map
posted 21 July 2007 03:48 AM EDT (US)

I made an escape which is in the screenshot above but loads of people could not work out how on earth I raised the water level on the map! So I have decided the make a guide.

You may haved noticed on the screenshot that the water is very deep but people can still move around underneath and build!

Do make the water rise gradurally, first put your map into the following conditions:

  • The entire map is covered in water shallow enough to walk through it.

  • All the land under the water is at maximun height.

You also need the following trigger: zRaise/lower all land
If you downloaded my superpack before July 20th 2007, you will have a different version of this trigger that isn't very reliable and needs a fire event. If you do not have my trigger at all, I have put the trigger for download here:

    Use this link

For superpack people, I advise you redownload the superpack and replace the trigger file with the new one.

When you have got it, insert the following trigger:

Trigger1loop, acitve, no run immediately, high priority)
    Conditions: Timer - 1 second
Effects: zRaise/lower all land - put in it 0.5

When you run the trigger, instead of the land rising, the water should rise because the land cannot rise any more because it is at max level. However the water still rises because there is no height cap for the water so in effect, the is flooding.

The opposite can also be done where the land is completely full of water that is deep enough for ships and the ground is at min height and you lower the land instead. The land cannot go down any more but the water does. Enough lowering will completely get rid of the water yet ships can still move around on solid ground!

Conclusion - The game does not remember if units/ships can go on that section of the map if you use this trick!
