This is a project I have just thought of making. It won't take that long, so I will have it finished in 2-3 weeks if I work hard.
This will be a scenario file, that you can put into your game, and then open it up in the editor. Also, it will include a trigger file with all of the triggers you don't already have. I am making it through a brilliant stroke of thought, and it will be to help fellow scenario designers with one of the most difficult areas of their maps; TRIGGERS. It will show newer players unaccustomed to triggers (hopefully) how to learn how to use triggers from this and create some effects, and for advanced or more profficient triggerers, will learn of cool effects, and be able to duplicate them for personal use.
- New Triggers, some of the effects and conditions in this guide require or are easier with new trigger conditions and effects that have been made by other people on AOM Heaven. Combination Effects comes with all of the triggers needed, so to allow you to make the combinations and not have to search through a bunch of different trigger packs to find them.
[] - An attempt at map design to make it a bit more enjoyable to play around with.
[] - Helpful and easy to understand chats, floating text, and objectives, telling you the effects there are, what they do, and how to make them.
[] - Intro cinematic & explination of triggers.
[] - Cinematics, these are the little movies that you watch in the game. This process will be extremely easy to understand, and is created through the use of cinematics themselves, and choice dialogue.
[] - Advanced Cinematics, special effects, cool factors in cinematics like explosions, sounds, and other things. Caution; this may be a more difficult area to understand, as they require precise timing calculations and many triggers.
[] - Computer Opponent AI, when you don't want the default one, fully customize and give advanced battle and economy skills to your opponent through the use of triggers. Make them attack you, defend if they are attacked, scout out the area, use god powers, and respond to many other things that happen.
[] - Texture units, implify the Transform trigger to give ingame units cool textures and effects. Full credit goes to Nottud for making the Transform trigger and discovering its uses. This is to show you how to create the effects with triggers.
[] - Relics, making new ancient artifacts. Pick one up with a hero and deposit in a temple to be rewarded.
[] - Simple shops, showing how to use them and what they can do.
[] - Hero creation and modifying, showing how to make a normal unit regenerate at a balanced pace, come back to life, give custom special attacks, and removing those effects from units that already have them, and then using modify protounit to further change unit stats.
[] - Quest Variables, the seldom understood conditions and effects.
[] - Hotkeys, press a button on the keyboard to make something happen!
[] - Teleporting, this trigger effect can be quite useful for many tricks, and you will be shown how to activate it properly.
[] - Antigravity Triggers, founded and created by Archaeopterix, a small introduction to these amazing effects with a shepherding setup.
[] - Cheat Codes, creating new ones for your ingame scenarios, and keeping others out.
[] - Weather Disaster Simulation, showing how to make a natural disaster from triggers. Highly enjoyable effect when done right.
[] - An attempt at map design to make it a bit more enjoyable to play around with.
Yes, you probably have already seen some of these effects or know of them, other people have told you how to do some stuff already.
Combination Effects is a design hints/tips and tutorials type of file. It does, however, feature small playable bits in the map, as they are needed as part of the instruction. I say that it will help teach you how to learn how to use triggers, but that does not mean that every bit of it will be fully shown for newer people. Yes, you will learn how to use triggers and make some of the effects if you are new to triggers, but if so, you probably will not learn how to create all of the combinations in this guide. Some of the factors are not for newer people, and will only make sense to those already proficient in some degree in using triggers. Anyway, do not complain and think that parts of Combination Effects are less helpful in showing you how to make trigger combinations. Some of the parts are just so big and require so many triggers, that it would be impossible to explain it to you with chats. I advise every single player of this guide to open it up in the editor and look at the triggers if you want to better understand what is happening.
I myself have already thought of, and found ideas to put into this guide, to help show people how to make them. But I feel that there is not enough, and you may agree. So please, anyone who has any ideas about things that you feel would be cool effects that you or other people would like to learn how to make in scenarios, then please, tell me. There are some areas in the map left for design ideas, so hurry up and submit! If I like your idea and use it,
