At AoMH, we are starting a new program called "Forummer of the Month". This was established to show our appreciation torwards one outstanding designer, modder, player, or general forummer every month. The AoMH staff have chosen the first person to be honored with this title based on his incredible work in the design field.

This forummer has shown outstanding work in scenario designing, tutorial writing, utility coding, random map scripting, and his many comments and reviews in the downloads section. This person was also chosen for being a great guy in general and an ideal designer to look up to for advice.

Along with his many other accomplishments, this forummer has contributed to AoMH with such creations as Ancient Evil, New Trigger Packs, Random Map Escapes, Dryad Wars, and 13 pits of doom.

Forummer of the Month - January, 2007

We have also asked nottud a few questions, check out his replies below.

1. What got you started in scenario designing and how long have you been designing?
I started when my sister got me the non expansion for Christmas. However, it was a while before I started designing.

2. What was the first game you designed for?
I first designed a couple of singleplayer maps on Age of Empires 1.

3. How did you first find AoMH?
I was on google looking on how to make the camera level with the ground. I downloaded Cheezy Monkey's camera pitch template for non expansion.

4. What is your favorite type of map to play online? (RPG's, escapes,
puzzles, strategy games, RMS...)
Unsure here, I suppose I like all those sorts. I prefer scenarios to random maps though.

5. What is your favorite type of map to design?
Well, you know this already - minigames mostly with some random maps and the occasional large map but that is rare.

6. In your opinion, what is your greatest accomplishment with AoM?
Difficult one. I suppose being able to find things tht people didn't and
scripting (that includes making triggers, random maps and editor mods)

7. Can you tell us about anything you plan on creating in the near future?
Very difficult one. I just design whatever I feel like. I am hoping sometime to make a another large map or a greatly complex random map but we will see.

8. Do you have any tips you'd like to share with newer designers?
My tip is to experiment. Try things out and see what you can learn. If you want to find out how to do something, look at how soemone else does it and learn from them. (That how I learnt to do cinematics)

9. You've basically mastered AoM Scenario design and are quickly learning random map scripting, do you have any plans to design something outside of AoM? Perhaps a new game engine?
That is likely to be out of the question. It is very unlikely that I will sucessfuly do anything like that but you will never know.

10. What kind of proffesion would you like to go into as an adult?
I have no idea!
