CHAAC-THE RAIN GOD

god of rain and thunder, and important as a fertility and agriculture god. In art, he was sometimes depicted as an old man with some reptilian or amphibian features, with fangs and a long nose, sometimes tears coming from his eyes (symbolizing rain) and carrying an axe (which caused thunder). He was associated with the frog. Chaac was the ancient Maya god of rain and lightning. He was one of the earliest and most worshipped gods among the all the people of mesoamerica.
Chaac was often depicted with a serpentine axe in his hand a metaphor for lightning, and his body was scaled and reptilian. He was worshipped at sacred wells or cenotes, and was associated with the life giving rain needed for agriculture. At the dawn of time Chac split apart a sacred stone with his axe, from which sprung the first ear of maize. When he was not among the clouds the god could be found near falling waters.

YUMIL KAXOB

personification of maize and a god of agriculture and nature, known to indigenous peoples of North America. The one invoked by hunters, he is owner of all the game. He can appear to hunters in an instant, and possesses songs that will allow a hunter success or allow his arrows to come back to him. The Maize god is representative of the ripe grain which was the base of the Mayan agriculture & is principally shown with a headdress of maize and a curved streak on his cheek. He is also noticeable from other gods by his youth, despite which he was powerless by himself. He suffered when the Death god, Ah Puch, exercised drought and famine. A passive and defenseless creature, victim of attacks by birds, insects and rodents. His survival depended on the help of the god of rain, Chaac. Corn also depended on man's rituals and offerings to the god of rain, weeding out plants which competed with Corn for space, scaring off predators, and giving life to the god by planting him. In gratitude for all man's care, Corn fed him.
MU -Tocotl giant spiders- Chiwoh. In Mexico it was believed that the creation of the world was assisted by Tocotl a Spider God, who spins a huge hammock to hold the world up. The Mayans believed that after death of the body the soul was destined to wander through the many dark passages of the underworld until they met a great river which they could not cross on their own. Each soul can only can only get to the other side of this river with the help of a spider person. The spider people spin a web rafts and then one spider person and one soul journey across the underground river linked in a sort of spiritual bond so that each is totally dependent on the other until they reach safety on the other side.

Points on the six-foot-long darts were barbed so that they had to be drawn out the other side in order to be removed.

He also caused the Great Flood after the first humans angered the gods. He supposedly lived in the windy mists above the floodwaters and repeated "earth" until land came up from the seas.
