Whenver I have time to play Age of Mythology, I think to myself- Is it just me, or are there a lot of missing elements in this game? Shouldn't Ensemble Studios has taken these missing elements into consideration when making Age of Mythology? So on and so forth. Since Ensemble Studios has disbanded and a sequel to Age of Mythology is about 5 to 6 years overdue, I've taken the situation into my own hands. Here's the formula for Age of Mythology II- Age of Conquest (abbreviated to AOM2- AOC, for your convienience).

OVERVIEW AND HISTORY

Once the player (whom we'll call Jimmy) begins the game, he'll be introduced to Earth in ancient times. 15 different cultures remain on Earth, all others having been wiped out in brutal wars. Jimmy is like a god who must select one of the 15 cultures to lead to conquer the Earth. Each of these 15 cultures live within the 5 regions (more on them later). Jimmy leads his selected culture through a hero. This hero is a historical figure that lead the culture in the real world. This hero has a special attack and regenerates (but more on them later).

SINGLE PLAYER/MULTI PLAYER INFORMATION

Jimmy decides today that he'll play single player mode against 2 other cultures in the selected region. The 2 other cultures are completely random and do not correspond to the region. In single player, Jimmy will have to defeat adversaries without being defeated first within the selected region. If Jimmy decides he'd rather play multi player or the Conquest Campaign, he'll be up against every culture on the map. He'll have to conquer his region and all other regions without being defeated himself. An additional feature to the game is the color palette, which includes red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, light orange, neon yelow, lime green, sky blue, light purple, gold, black, and brown. If two ore more players select the same color and others are left over, one or more of the players will recieve one of the unused colors (depending on the amount of unused team colors). If there are no unused colors, the player can select from cream, white, burgandy, shartruse, silver, tan, aqua, navy blue, dark green, and deep violet. Just because Jimmy's "Player 1" doesn't mean his team color has to be blue.

REGIONS

Each of the Earth's regions is home to 3 different cultures. The regions are as follows- The American Region, The European Region, The West Asian & African Region, The Asian Region, and the Oceanic Region. Each of the regions have different features- for example, the European Region has more forests, cliffs, and rocks, while the West Asian & African Region (basically the Fertile Cresent and Egypt) has more of everything. each region also features it's own wildlife that is unique to that region. For example, the Asian Region features many different types of fish and the American Region features various monkeys and huntable birds. Each region features three different maps for the three different civilizations that divide the three different cultures.

HEROES/HEROINES

Every culture is capable of training a hero that regenerates, is good against myth units, and has a unique special attack. Each hero (such as the Greek Ajax) is a historical charachter that really lead many of these cultures. Others (such as the Egytpian Amanra) are fictional and never existed. Regardless, the Hero is the leader of Jimmy's civilization and is the strongest human unit for the civilization in the game.

UNIVERSAL UNITS/BUILDINGS

All civilizations and cultures have their own unique features, but Jimmy will find that some units exist in all cultures and civilizations. They have been listed here-
Universal Units
- Villager that gathers resources and builds buildings
- Scout unit with big line of sight
- Fishing boat of some kind
- Transport ship of some kind
- Leader hero
- Additional hero (like a priest or some other hero)
- Caravan of some sort (not all are animals)
- Siege unit (all cultures have at least one)
Universal Buildings
- Town Center
- House
- Drop- off Sites (certain cultures have multiple buidlings for different resources)
- Dock
- Temple
- Barracks (somewhere to train Classical Age soldiers)
- Sentry Towers
- Walls
- Fortresses (somewhere to train Heroic Age soldiers)
- Wonders
- Titan Gates
Each fo the cultuers in their region bear more similarity to each other than any other outside their region. All civilizations have units that can counter other units. In other words, no culture is stronger than another.

RESOURCES

Jimmy's villager units will have the duty of gathering resources. These resources are food (gathered from farms, berry bushes, animals, and trade), wood (gathered from trees and trade), gold (gathered from gold mines), stone (gathered from natural Gaia units known as quarries that produce stone and from trade), and favor (gathered from various forms of worship that differentiate based on culture). each cultuer has a unique way of gathering and dropping off resources.

CULTURES/CIVILIZATIONS

When the game begins, Jimmy will have to choose one of the 15 cultures. There are 3 cultures per region. They are as follows- The American Region- Aztecs, Maya, and Inca- The European Region- Greeks, Norse, and Celts- The West Asian & African Region- Egyptians, Babylonians, and Sumerians- The Asian Region- Chinese, Japanese, and Indians- and The Oceanic Region- Aborigionals, Hawaiians/Polynesians, and Maori. Each of these cultures is divided into 3 different civilizations that worship a different major god. Each time Jimmy advances through an age (Archaic, Classical, Heroic, Mythic, and Titan), he worships a new minor god and gains new god powers (more later) and myth units (more on them later as well).

GOD POWERS

God powers are a way for Jimmy's major and minor gods to send their wrath upon his enemies, change the tide of a battle, or assist Jimmy with his economic or military needs. Each major god for a culture has a god power that can be used 3 times. Every time Jimmy wants to use the god power once more, he can pay for it in favor and not have to wait for it. As he advances in ages, the more powerful the god power becomes and the more expensive and less avaliable it is. Titan Age god powers can only be used once and every one of them summons a mighty titan.

MYTH UNITS

Myth units are unique units assigned to a culture that believed in their supernatural existense. Jimmy, should he play as the Greeks, will be able to train Centaurs. Myth units exist soley to kill more human units that human units can do on their own. Titans are not myth units and so are not affected by any technology that helps human units kill myth units. Titans can only be killed by a) lots of god powers b)a massive army or c) lots and lots of heroes. Myth units, on the other hand, can be killed by leader heroes quickly and additional heroes slightly less so. They are best used against human units.
