Some of you may know about the mod some people have that allows them to customize comp names before they start a game... for example "Standard" could be "Away From Keyboard".
After looking in the ai2 folder and editing the xml's... (and experimenting a little bit too) I finally discovered the secret.
It's a simple process which doesn't take more than 5 minutes.
This is only for those of you who want to know how to do this...
1. Open up My Computer and go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\ai2 for AoM: TT users... or
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\ai for AoM vanilla users.
2. Open the "default" xml file with notepad in the ai folder or "aomxai010 standard" in the ai2 folder.
3.You should see something like this:
It should look like this:
4. Now change the name between
ex:
5. If you want to change what it will look like in-game, then do the same thing with the next part.
You should see this:
6. If you want one name to appear for each culture in-game, or you want 1 name to appear overall, then delete all of the "playernames" data except for
Then, add 1 line for each culture, with the name being whatever you wish.
7. Save this as a new file (name it something different), but keep it as an xml.
If you have any questions, please post them.
It started with a low light; Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type; It left a strange impression in my head.
You know that I was hoping; That I could leave this star-crossed world behind
But when they cut me open; I guess I changed my mind.
