A discovery in anim files, concerning alpha and beta units!!

Looking into extracting anim files i found a serie of unit anims i have never seen before. So i replaced existing units in the game with the never seen before anim files. Guess what?! Some actually had beautiful textures which i had never seen before!!!!




War Chariot Hero
It looks like a pharaoh with a bow mounted on a chariot.




Market Stall
This one is lacking in textures, but it's a single market stall which has the area of a long stall with an angle. And it even has a roof!




Nubian Goat
It's a grey goat
I've actually heard of this one before, but never seen it.




Road pieces
Now this is something amazing, AoM having big road pieces, which remember me of the small ones in AoE I !!




Scaffold
It's something different, an unfinished construction since it lacks textures at it's corners.




Swordsman
He looks alot like the hypaspist, the sword and armour is a little different.
I haven't tested it with upgrades yet!








Troy Lighthouse
It seems to be a scenario unit, which isn't finished yet. But the lines of it's structure look great.


Secret Town Center
This building only shows the greek tree.

And now the masterpiece!










Mine
I found this one by accident. It's a beautiful mine with existing textures!
It has a roof of its own, and the anim adds a few plants.
Really love this object, we should give it a purpose in the game as a mod?

I've known about these for a while and I completly agree with you. And what were the creators thinking?! These are beautiful and amazing animations/textures! and should be used in mods.

Reminds me of Battle for Middle-Earth.

We could make it work as a sort of 'Gold Farm', and even add various textures for each civ

The Fate of the Dragon Rts has a same mine, where villagers enter it and return when they're done with picking stone. Maybe we could make something similar. Now we could even add a new resource to AoM LOL or an even bigger size of Gold mine. 'Huge Gold Mine' - 20.000 Gold heheheh

The growth anim didn't work for me?
I put it in huskarl or ulfsark, i didn't replace it with hypaspist i think.
But fully replacing a unit including attack moves speed makes it not online compatible if im right.

I changed Mining Camp with the Mine XD

It's because you're not supposed to edit the tags, because they determine attack points and all, so one could easily hack/cheat. That's why it says "...autogenerated by the something tool... do not hand edit these values"

The growth animation works, give it some time. Try changing the anim from idle or something.

As for the hypaspist it's still not fully working. I have the sword but the textures aren't showing up. The "Infantry G" texture doesn't even exist. So what's the name of the texture? Could you post a replace here please?

Wow, never seen the Market Stall, Lighthouse and the mine before! Really nice complements to my RPG project!

And there's also a he-goat that looks quite cool with its large horns.
The growth is also really cool, I remember looking through all the interesting anims and model files, and found growth which is like thorn thistles growing out of the ground. Would be best used for godpowers, magic skills and large trap-like stuff. Only problem I had with it was the texture. Sometimes it was green (as supposed to I guess), but sometimes it was white or black and white like a triangular chess pattern.

Sometimes I like to take screenshots. But only sometimes.

i think the campaign objects are not in the game simply cuz they didn't fit in the story.

I used the halberd in my green horde mod. Indeed it's awesome.

I modded tons of the beta units. Like the old axeman, hoplite, myrmidon, Ajax with sword and so on.
I never released them. Maybe I should...

Knew about most of these for a long time. Especially the Dwarven Tunnel (beta gp btw, was going to be an underworld passage that lasted for 30 seconds, that's also why the name is tunnel)

The name is dwarven tunnel I say! I don't care what the anim says it's dwarven tunnel.

Whenever I get back to working I'll remember to use some of these though.


There's also things that aren't in the anims, like the golem and beta frost giant (which both map onto fire giant exactly). Most people know the golem. The frost giant had some issues with transparency when I tested it though. The texture isn't hard to find it's right next to frost giant but has the word map.
