This guide will show you how to make craters. Making such crater as the example here is actually very easy, and once you’ve followed this guide once, you’ll never forget this little trick.
Alrigth, this part is fairly simple. Make a large area of middle elevation. Raise a round block to max elevation. The size of this round block is the size of your crater. Now, lower the whole block. After some time it will eventually look like a crater. If you get it lowered to min elevation, it will fail, and you’ll have to undo, and try again.
This is the step where you specify the personality of your crater. Should it be volcanic? Inside a forest? Craters can occur many places, but they look best in a desert. To have them in a desert, obviously there must not be much driving sand. The demonstration crater was made using 5 terrains, blending nicely into each other. I’ll make make it easy for you, and show you which. In fact, the very bottom of the crater are made by CoralF, cracks along the sides are made by CoralE. The somewhat sandy terrains on the sides are made by CoralD, RiverSandyA and RiverSandyB.
It’s time for the final touch! Let’s operate on your desert crater. In deserts, some Skeleton Animals would only enhance the overall look. Perhaps a few spreaden rocks. That is well done with Rock Sandstone Big and Rock Sandstone Small. I sometimes also add a few Rock Sandstone Sprites inside the crater, giving an even nicer effect. If you want your crater anywhere else than a desert, shape the crater, and design it like such place would look. In a forest trees would maybe have overgrown it, etc..
Here’s a list of other Craters made, using this trick:
