A guide that shows you how to understand and edit standard, cinematic, and 2D textures.

The guide shows you how to make Transparent Texture - like glass. and use the mask to make player colors and invisible parts in your mod.

It shows you how to Make 2D models using textures. And it shows you how to make units appear differently by simply giving it a different ddt image format.

It shows you what is what on a cine texture and how The mask of a texture is used

It is worth a download

Dnas Not bad... but not really advanced either.

Most of the info you have I had figured out for my self about a week or two into modding.
The rest I figured out by playing with a hex-editor.

Some of the info you have about ddt types is incorrect, though.

If there is a mask, you convert it with either 1-bit or 4-bit alpha.

If not, you convert it with no alpha.

Depending on if you want transparency or not, use alpha[0] or 1.

If you want alpha transperency on a poly that already has player color, you need to tweek the material id of each poly.

12-bit and 4-bit alpha gives you less colors for the texture, but more for the mask. Use this if you want partial transparencies.

15-it and 1-bit alpha gives you more colors for the texture, but you can only have two values in the mask, black or white.
