THE RUN BACK HOME
A "would be A2B entry By FenrisWulf
________________________________________________
Originally this was going to be one of the contestents in the A2B competition, but now that it's cancelled, I don't see any reason in not posting it now.
This game is telling the story of two villagers, named Jimmy and Joey, and there travels through the desert. They used to be regular villagers, used to regular tasks like "mine rock, now take gold from rock and put it in storage pit" and "Keep hammering in the same spot to make a building." Soon though, their lives changed completly. In a failed villy rush attempt, the gamer misclicked and sent these two villagers off into oblivion. Will they make it back home alive? That's up to you.
Features:
*7 Very Fun Puzzles
*Auctually sent into the competition
*Humerous parts
*Almost-but-not-even-close-to-good eyecandy
*2 Minigames
It's a puzzle scenario, and my first scenario worthy of posting up here. Fell free to comment and give me pointers on improvment. |

Playability: 3
Definately very "playable'. It was fun, and the puzzles were well-made. My only suggestions are:
1. Improve the memory game a little (maybe show an overhead view of all the objects and tell the player to memorize them for a good amount of time instead of just briefly showing them in a camera track)
2. The golden gazzete (not sure how to spell) minigame was both confusing and nearly impossible without using the cheat. In my opinion, that was the worst part of the entire scenario.
3. It might have just been my stupidity, but I couldn't do anything to fire the riddle and wound up looking at the walkthrough. I went to and selected both the sign and the gate, and nothing happened. I explored (I think) the entire area, and nothing happened. Either that is a major bug, or you need to make it more clear what to do/where to go.
Puzzles/Minigames: 5
The puzzles/minigames (other than the bugs mentioned above) were fantastic. I especially liked the running one, that was really fun!
Creativity: 5
Very creative! Excellent storyline and unique style of playing!
Map Design/Cinematics: 4.5
Map design was excellent throughout the map [in my opinion, which might be biased since I suck at eyecandy ;)]. Cinematics were always interesting and funny. My only suggestion is not to show the black map/black sky in the opening cinematic. Watch it, then see what you can do to improve it.
Story/Instructions: 4
Story was fantastic. The scenario was usually pretty intuitive, but see the stuff I mentioned under playability.
Additional Comments:
All in all, a great scenario! This would have ranked pretty high if the A-B Competition wasn't canceled.[Edited on 10/13/07 @ 12:36 PM]

Cerberus_001, I just played through my map again, and when I got to the riddle and selected the sign, the riddle was activated. Are you sure you selected the sign? |
