4 vp for second place
2 vp for third place
+3 vp for killing another person off

Tie breakers:
(1)If there is a tie, the person who has the most kills advances.
(2)If there is still a tie, the person who finished their games first advances.
(3)If there is still a tie, some trusted 3rd person will flip a coin - or if the players know each other they can thumb wrestle for it

Round 2 games:

The top 4 victory point finishers move on to the winners game in the final round. The highest victory point totals get to pick their starting position and so forth.

The bottom 4 victory point finishers will play a match as well under the same rules.

Map for round 2: War of 12 Mages

Special rules:
(1)Leaders on! - each player will have a leader who is level 7 with 15 hit points and spell casting IV. The hero is not allowed to use any items and any experience gained can only be used for increasing spellcasting or hit points. Leaders may be buffed by spells and by refreshing swims.
(2)No peace! - all races start at war, and no peace agreements may be signed. Any offical agreements between players are not binding and not enforceable.

Note: All games will count towards wizard ladder standings!

Good luck to all

Updated. Some games onto day 10 already, others lagging a bit...2 players eliminated early...but most of the games seem to be shaping up as very interesting for all!

Updated the status above. Everything seems to be going well. Half the games have already seen some of the players bow out - the other half everyone is still contending for the victory!

We finished 1 month (although we did not start until the second week of March really) of play and so I updated the standings above in addition here is an update of how the players are doing:

Sprout - 3 Kills and 0 Death
Nojd - 1 Kill and 1 Death
Eriksson - 0 Kills and 1 Death
Dan P. - 0 Kills and 1 Death
Enginerd - 0 Kills and 0 Death
Z Saber - 1 Kill and 1 Death
Thorongil- 0 Kills and 1 Death
Unicorn - 1 Kill and 1 Death

Overall, very good. Six players have been knocked out of 1 game so far - no one knocked out of more than 1. In addition, half of the players already have a kill as well. So looks nice and competitive so far!

Hi there! I just wanted to point out that there is an error in the Status report.

Quoted from Game 2 of the status report:

3rd place: Halflings - Dan - Killed on Day 4 by the Goblins (Unicorn)
4th place: Dwarves - Nojd - Killed on Day 8 by the Orcs (Z Saber)

It should be like this:

3rd place: Halflings - Dan - Killed on Day 8 by the Goblins (Z saber)
4th place: Dwarves - Nojd - Killed on Day 4 by the Orcs (Unicorn)

Good job with the tournament so far!

Itīs nice to be important, but itīs more important to be nice.

Thanks for pointing it out - I fixed it now. Although your correction listed Unicorn as Orcs instead of Goblins....ah so easily to make a tyypo

LOL, I see my mistake. How silly of me to point out your mistake, and then not check what I write myself. I was probably tired when I wrote that.

Not much action recently - the two games on diplomacy with dragons are moving along quickly, but still much action to be had in both it seems. The only concern would be the slow moving of game 6...however, it does make the game more interesting, as all four of the players in game 6 could end up in the top bracket or the lower bracket depending on the game, so it is exciting to see who will break first

I will also entertain suggestions for the final round map if anyone would like to make some...

Another game finished - only 2 games remain, so the overall race for the top 4 spots is tightening up. With Enginerd, Eriksson, Z Saber and Dan all competing the game 6 - in which none have been eliminated, all of them have the opportunity to still gain a considerable number of points. In addition, Enginerd and Dan are still alive in the diplomacy with dragons game...one or both of them will still increase their points from that game. Meanwhile, Unicorn and his 14 points are the benchmark and he will likely hold all the tiebreakers...

Sprout - 2 Victories, 0 Defeats, 5 Kills, 29 minimum victory points
Nojd - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 3 Kills, Final score: 17 victory points
Unicorn - 1 Victory, 2 Defeats, 2 Kills, Final score: 14 victory points
Enginerd - 0 Victories, 1 Defeat, 1 Kill, 9 minimum victory points
Eriksson - 1 Victory, 1 Defeat, 1 Kill, 9 minimum victory points
Z Saber - 0 Victories, 2 Defeats, 1 Kill, 7 minimum victory points
Dan P - 0 Victories, 1 Defeat, 0 Kills, 4 minimum victory points
Thorongil - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 0 Kills, Final score: 4 victory points

I have a couple of map suggestions for round 2 even if it looks very uncertain that I will get there myself.

If we are to play on a smaller map:

War of the 12 mages by Greenmonster
The Apprentice by Arctic Wolf
Pirates of Zerclea by The Jerk

If the map is supposed to be somewhat bigger:

The Riverland Wars by TalonThorn
The Doorstep of Death by Arctic Wolf

All these maps have given me some very memorable game moments over the years I have enjoyed playing AoW.

Itīs nice to be important, but itīs more important to be nice.

Thanks for the suggestions Dan.

I think that the War of 12 Mages is a really fun map - and one that has quick action. It is actually one of the maps that I first played as PBEM. I subbed for someone who had quit...and I did terrible

Anyway, I was thinking of modifying it a bit and then we could play the 4 neutral races...comments or suggestions about that? I was thinking of leaving of eliminating the prisons - or atleast changing the payoff to random average. Otherwise I have not looked at it enough to see...I also figured everyone can start with 2-3 low level heroes as well as their leader. Should be a fun map with lots of action.

Let me know your opinion! Remember, there will be a game for the top 4 victory point finishers and another game for the bottom 4 finishers.

Quote:

Eriksson - 1 Victory, 1 Defeat, 0 Kills, 9 minimum victory points

Surely Eriksson should have at least one Kill? Otherwise I don't know how he won that Diplomacy with Dragons map.

Hmm...who did he finish off again? Oh, it was Nojd...I suppoosse that it was a worthy enough opponent to get credit

Thanks for pointing it out!

Is this still going on? i havent played in a long time, but just started playing single player again. Would like to play a good game of classic AoW multi-player sometime soon.

Lord 420,
The tournament is still going on - however, the first round is nearly complete and we are not in need of any substitute players - but glad you are interested in playing some more games.

2nd place: Enginerd - 0 Victories, 2 Defeats, 2 Kills, 18 or 23 victory points
3rd place: Nojd - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 3 Kills, Final score: 17 victory points

The first round is complete! Well done to everyone! Enginerd showed his strength once again - dominating the competition...Nojd although he waxed overconfident at one point that prevented an even higher score is as deadly a foe that one can face. Unicorn showed that he was no easy mark as he showed superior strategy and daring execution! Although Z Saber, Eriksson, Dan and Thorongil came up short this time, it was close as all of them suffered a bit of bad luck that prevented a spot that would have been well-deserved to any of these fine players as well. Thanks for playing folks!

1st place: Sprout - 3 Victories, 0 Defeats, 7 Kills, Final score: 39 victory points
2nd place: Enginerd - 1 Victory, 2 Defeats, 3 Kills, Final score: 23 victory points
3rd place: Nojd - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 3 Kills, Final score: 17 victory points
4th place: Unicorn - 1 Victory, 2 Defeats, 2 Kills, Final score: 14 victory points
5th place: Z Saber - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 2 Kills, Final score: 12 victory points
6th place: Eriksson - 1 Victory, 2 Defeats, 1 Kill, Final score: 9 victory points
7th place: Dan P - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 0 Kills, Final score: 8 victory points
8th place: Thorongil - 0 Victories, 3 Defeats, 0 Kills, Final score: 4 victory points

Note on Final Round: I have heard back from the top 4 players and they are all still interested in the final round, so going to start that up soon. If some of the bottom 4 players are not interested in a consolation game, then that is okay - thanks for playing!
