My very fist and difficult battle went very well


I had a restart, because the game crashed (with a lot of strange error messages) after the battle so I had no option but to replay the turn.

(well, as long as you don't genrate restart message almost every turns, I don't have problems with them. And you already proved with your very bad start in our first duel that you do not reload when battles go really bad. And I was a little disappointed in the first duel when you said after your first turn that you had probably already lost the duel...)

Rhaa ... bad luck.
When I stole the stone quest with my Zephyr under the noze of your Hero, the spirit spawned Infidels near my troops. These were 4 Syrons (3 Lightning Catchers and 1 Cavalry). I decided to decline the quest, so that they would be no more infidels, but scouts. And I can hire them. But they were too expensive, and I had to wait one turn. And now... they have completely disappeared! Disbanded!
That's something I will remember for the next time : if you want to hire infidels, you have to do it the same turn you decline the quest, or it will be too late.

Damn, DAMN! I really didn't think I could lose that battle so badly, but those very strong trees was not worth much when they was entangled/webbed all the time The behavior of units in FC have clearly changed from AoW:WT they used to target units with entangle/web before anything else..
Just too bad for me that you was lucky enough to seduce that druid last turn...
At least You have no spiders or druids left now..

Meriadoc, Day 11 & 12 :

I had decided to gather my forces to attack Pippin's army (lead by Chris), but the enemy was quicker and attacked me!

Chris, 1 Sheriff, 1 Efreet, 1 Poney Riders, 3 Treemen and 1 Astra (I didn't know you had that last one. Maybe I would chose to delay the attack because of it.

On my side, Merry himself, Lennart, 1 Sheriff, 1 Drac Elder, 1 Druid, 2 Spiders, 2 Nymphes, 2 Slingers, 1 Swordsman, 1 Lurker, 1 Iron Maiden and 4 or 5 Pony Riders.
I just explored the Magic Vault, and because I tried to trap the Air Elemental guarding it, some units were wounded. Maybe that's why Pippin decided to attack.

During the first round, the Druid entangled 1 Treeman while the 2 others killed my Slingers (after they missed every shoot). Nymphes tried to seduce the Efreet, but didn't succeed. The entangled Treeman and the Efreet were killed. About the 2nd round, the 2 remaining Treemen were paralysed : one by the Druid, the other by a Spider. The Nymphes again failed to seduce anybody, that was their last chance to do it... The rest of the fight is obviously an easy victory.
I would say great success for my Druid and my Spiders, but total failure for my Nymphes and Slingers (and they had silver and gold medal).

I thought you'd remember our first duel : during the final battle, my Druid and my Spiders were the Heroes! You said I was lucky to seduce the Druid ... well ... yes and no : during our first duel, I webbed or killed those 5 indies after my 2nd round of battle. Then the indies didn't do anything else than being hit. And that time, it took 16 tries to my Nymphe to seduce the Druid (thank god, I had 2 Spiders to web him all the time). So it's not a surprise that I seduced the Druid, but I was really lucky to do it during the first round!

Now something else :
It's about the Magic Catalyst. On our game, I chose "50 Casting Points" instead of "150 Research". That was to cast "Call of The Forest" faster. Here is what happenend :
Day 5 : Starting to cast. 150 points needed. End of turn = 20 CP. 7 turns to wait.
Day 6 : 130 needed. End of Turn = 20 CP. 6 days to wait.
Day 7 : 110 needed. Found the Catalyst. End of Turn = 70/20 CP. 3 Turns to wait.
Day 8 : 40 needed. End of Turn = still 70/20 CP. 2 turns to wait.
Day 9 : No more needs : I cast the spell and I still had 30/20 CP !!!
So this means that I benefit from the 50 CP for several turns! This is not supposed to work like this, is it ?

Day 12 : at least one glade runner is having fun near my capital. The hunting is open! lol

(The Syrons Scouts from the begining are back! They had crossed the river when I thought they disappeared. As the indies guarding the bridge were still there, I thought it wouldn't be possible for them to cross. But as indies too, they could do it.)

Captured Pippin's capital. It was only defended by 1 Halfling Slinger and 1 Goblin Darter. I wonder how they could live together!

Anyway, Pippin still has powerful units : Treeman, Centaur, Iron Maiden, etc.
It won't be easy to kill him, but he's forced to take risks ... his Water Dancer paid for that, as it was defeated by 2 Lighting Catchers.

(Stun, Web and Entangle are the best weapons of my army lol)

Yep ... real luck that my 2 Lighting Catchers survived but in your position, I think I would have sent the Nymphe too (but I don't remember if she has enough mp).

Yes it was a little stupid that I did not send the nymph, I had forgot that they can swim.. Anyway I just made a little test using the editor, a water dancer killed 2 lightning catchers in 19 out of 20 test runs, so that was really bad luck that I did not win that battle.

I would think the Lighting Catchers would win a little more fights. Not because of their stats (I bet they are weaker than glade runners), but because they can stun the enemy.

Was able to get some very needed gold from the rainbow's end and even managed to get one of the rogues to join me

The magic catalyst thing sounds like a bug, but I have almost never taken the casting points, so I am not sure

Ps: well ... I also almost never chose the 50 CP. And when I do, it's to immediately cast some spells ... never for summon. But if it works like that, we can summon creature at a wonderful speed. You just have to be good at math.

Well ... Pippin will have to fight 3 Herbalists to cross the river, and then he will probably attack my village.

It has a good defense, but probably not enough to stop him.

Well ... it's finally over!
This time, I could attack Pippin with everybody!

Still don't know how the fight went, but I killed Pippin!

Ps: I noticed something during our game. The Circles (defended by 1 Druid and 4 Treemen) did not have the same units on each sides of the river.
I checked with the editor and the one on Meriadoc's side has 1 Iron Maiden and 3 Elf Scouts (like the other one), but it has also a few random units! It's better to remove them I think. (it's not really that great, I could hire 2 Wolves, 1 Fairy ... and something else but I don't remember lol).
