Springheel: Marinus.
Tibbs: ? (didn't catch it)

Day 1:

My hero and her troops fought a group of hell-hounds. One of our cavalry fell, but we secured the magic catalyst they were guarding. Our scouts have spotted a Nomad outpost in the distance, and we are approaching warily.

Turn sent.

I'm at work right now so I won't be able to play the game for a couple of hours. I just wanted to ask:

*Did you want this to be a wizard ladder or non-wizard ladder game? Your choice.

*Also, are we using the optional house rule (do not attack each other until CPU is dead) or is it open game? Again, your choice.

(just copied this from another thread) You may have sent an email explaining this but, again, work an' all- can't check that either.

?? I don't understand this reference actually. What's the difference?

And if you have no preference, let's say attacks are fair game at any point. It will probably make for a faster game.

The explaination for Wizard Ladder is in this thread:

http://aow.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=34,737,,60

Basically, it's a tournament.

Some people also like to play casual games (non-WL) to get their teeth wet or because they don't like ongoing tournament type games. There could be other reasons, but that's what I think. (I have games in both formats so feel free to choose whichever)

Sounds good. You'll get your turn shortly. Good Luck!

Oh, I thought you were talking about two different kinds of ladder games, wizard and non-wizard. What the heck, let's make it a ladder game.

Day 2:
A scout has spotted a Life Node in the distance, but doom bats swarm around its branches. The scout dares not approach.

My hero entered the dusty Nomad outpost and took control of it, losing only the troops summoned for the task. It is a sorry conquest, but may come in handy someday. Beyond the outpost is a river. My troops were forced to turn back.

Goblins Day 2-

Ah, the gobbies find many goodies in these lands. First they find strange hero wanting to join in tavern. He's weird lookin' but he has wings, and the gobs think those are cool. We touch magic rock and large floating head lady tells us to kill stuff. She's pretty so we'll do it. We also stole some stuff from snotty elves. We like their stuff.

Day 3:

A stroke of bad luck has befallen my empire. An orcish warlord of some reknown has angered the Spirit of Order, and has fled into the middle of my lands. The Spirit will reward us handsomely if we punish him, yet his forces are stronger than any army I can muster. I fear for my Hero, who explores near his present location.

One of my scouts has ventured underground, lured by the smell of mushrooms.

Day 4:

The Orcish Warlord seems to be camped near the Monastary for the time being. Sweet Lily was able to escape. She defeated a band of rebels and took back the production resources they had stolen. I then recalled her home for defense, in case the warlord should move this way. I am starting to build troops that I hope can defeat this warlord, though it will be a great risk.

Goblins Day 3-

Goblins all come together and have strategic game of rock, paper, cleavers. Rock- kill infedel guys. Paper- kill big orcs and take furnace. Cleavers- kill some dwarves and take city. Game has started. First goblin say rock, second goblin say paper, third goblin threatens them with a cleaver. Cleaver wins, we kill dwarves at dawn.

Day 5:

Drat. Not a good day. The Warlord and his troops move towards my dusty Nomad Outpost. Without walls I have no chance of defending it, so I have fled.
Some scouts tried to take control of a furnace, but again we had to flee before the victory was complete. I don't know what to do about this warlord, but we cannot just camp here in the capital and wait for him to attack his leisure.

Day 6:

The nomads have packed up their tents and fled to the capital. I am mustering all the troops I can, and hope to attack the warlord tomorrow. If he were alone I would feel more confident, but with doom bats and an archer to back him up, I fear it may take many tries to defeat him.

Goblins steal magic tree by killing living magic tree. Orders had to be repeated many times to get troops to attack the right tree. Too many trees.

The warlord hasn't moved. He is camped a day's ride from our capital. I have started to move my troops to intercept him. My heart is heavy, for I know we are going to take heavy losses...if we survive at all.

Day 8:

A small band of goblins appeared. Nasty, smelly things. My army tested their mettle against them and slew them with ease. Now we are ready for the warlord. By tomorrow I will have finally learned the secrets of enchanting the weapons of my troops. Together, I hope this is enough.

Day 8:

Yeah, tall folk suck.

I've lost contact with the scout who went underground. I don't know who he met or what happened, but he is gone.

My army attacked the warlord. Our slingers, guarded by cavalry, were able to take him down. We had some losses, and were forced to retreat before we could finish off the doom bats, but tomorrow, when I am refreshed, I will blast them with magic. What reward will the spirit grant us, I wonder?

Success! Lilly's magic proved too much for the doom bats. As a reward, the Spirit of Order appeared to me in a dream. When I awoke, I quickly recorded what he had shown me...a most powerful spell to use against any who would threaten us!

Some scouts took control of a windmill. I've been able to afford some fancy new outfits for my troops. I love the yellow pants!

Lilly took the life node handily and is riding off to join my scout on the frontier.

Lilly rode ahead and found the ruins of an ancient temple. She snuck in and found it was haunted by some of the scariest monsters she's ever seen. She quickly fled out of the area. While doing so, she spotted some independent nomads wandering. I should probably pull my scouts together this far from the safety of our borders.

Underground, the dwarf has conquered another node for me.

Some of my troops tried to take a look-out tower from some elves, but we fled before their bows.

A scout was lost to a berseker.
