Quoted from Minstrel:

The days of Nekron on this land are counted.

Heh, the days of Nekron are over.

Good game. I thought for a while there that I was going to pull it off, but I lost both of my heros early on and that pretty much was that.

Enjoyed playing, although I don't particularly care for this map and most likely won't play it again. It seems a little one-sided towards Anon given that you have the Chariot and (once you conquer the city) access to flying units. Both of those are a HUGE advantage compared to the mostly ground-based troops available to Nekron.

At any rate, I'll let you post the results.

As I am playing a few games on this map right now, I agree with you about the balance biaised towards Anon. The eagle rider can be built too quickly from the halfing city and is able to capture most of the gold, mana and 2 artifcats in the middle of the map.

I'm thinking that if the Orc city to the East of Nekron's city was changed to Goblins instead, that would give Nekron a wyvern rider would would be comparable to the Hafling Rider that Anon is able to obtain. That should help to balance things out a bit more.

The other thing is the chariot. I'm not sure what could be done to balance that out a bit.

I'll play with the map some and see if I can get it a bit more balanced.

Okay, I found a couple of other things that weren't equitable. Both of the cities near Anon start out with a Champion's Guild and a Monastery. Neither of the cities near Nekron start out with a Champion's Guild or a Monastery.

The fact that the city nearest to Anon is a Hafling city and they start out with a Champion's Guild, that makes it REALLY easy to create a Hafling Rider which will significantly alter the outcome of the battle.

Here are the changes I've made:

1. Changed the Orc town of Brak to a Goblin town.
2. Added a Champion's Guild and Monastery to Brak (Goblin Town).
3. Added a Champion's Guild and Monastery to Astori (Dark Elves).

I think that these changes help to balance things out much better. This should help the map to end up being more of a battle of strategy rather than be one-sided as it was previously.

Do you fancy a revenge on your modified map (with sides switched or not as you wish)?
posted 02-09-03 02:04 AM EDT (US)     25 / 26
I do, but just to let you know, I've made a few more modifications.

Here they are:

1. Switched Anon's hero from Arcos to Chanta (she seemed to be more balanced with Ymbria).
2. Replaced one(1) Level 2 and two(2) Level 1 Dwarf units in Anon's main complement with one(1) Level 2 and two(2) Level 1 Elf units.
3. Replaced one(1) Goblin Level 2 and two(2) Goblin Level 1 units in Nekron's main complement with two(2) Goblin Level 2 units, removed two(2) Level 2 Orc units and replaced with one(1) Level 2 and two(2) Level 1 Dark Elf units.

The entire goal here has been to balance the good and the evil sides such that each has an equal opportunity to succeed. Now, I pretty much suck as a player, so I'll probably get my butt kicked again, but at least it'll be a little more fair.

If you're interested, shoot me an eMail and we'll set it up.

These balance issues have been discussed a bit, and me and Troy Locker are at the end of a rematch on this map.

The first game Anon (Troy) won after 56 days. Then we discovered the imbalance of Monasteries and Champion's Guilds. These were corrected, and now Necron (me ) has won it.. Coa I do not think changing to Goblins to the south east will help, this city will then fall easily to the Charioteers. Only Orcish Warlords can stave off such assaults.

In both games Anon has been able to raze the north western town quite easily. But that didn't matter though
