Ah yes, a world fresh and yearning for my dominance! Two magic nodes and a mine fall with token resistance and no losses. I appears that his land has known too much peace -- I shall rectify that promptly.

Ah, it appears that the Elves are in disarray. Durbin glows red on the lake, and their troops in the North are a day late and a few units short for the Glacial campaign. Perhaps all of their troops are headed south? We shall see . . .

A very quite day -- nothing to conquer or kill. My intended targets ran back into the fog, and into the newly discovered magic aura of the Elf Queen. It is time to pursue bigger game.

Serena - Day 5

The smell of the sweting boar ridges our noses.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day6

Today has been much more productive than the day before. Mines captured, campsites explored, towns migrated and cities conquered. Serena's troops have split evenly in the North and South, but as luck would have it I have beaten her to both places by just a day. the Human towns have been garrisoned with my loyalists and each hunkers down for the expected sieges.

Another lull between storms. The Elves have withdrawn from both fronts, giving my troops some time to heal. We will use the respite well, gather some human shock troops, and continue out conquering ways!

Arachna - Dark elves - Day8

Bah! A sneaking Gladerunner was caught lurking about the Bayou. He was put to good use, supply many hitpoints to my lifestealing executioner and extra experience to my Shade. But unfortunatly he also served his purpose to his mistress by revealing the presence of said Shade. The Shade was meant to be a surprise for the Iron Maiden who was also seen recently in the area, but now the secret is out. A Bladedancer, two Exectutioners, a Shade, and assosorted support units begin operations in Elven territory.

The story is much the same in the North. Two heroes, a spiderqueen, and many shock troops initiate a pincer in the glacier. Will Serena split support to both fronts, or will she commit to one?

Arachna - Dark elves - Day9

OK, I seem to be experiencing a bit of a pest control problem. Two more Gladerunners were exterminated today after infesting my Northern cities. The net result is the loss of some cash and a day's delay of my two pronged invasion of death and sorrow in exchage for 3 dead enemy units.

I think that I come out on the short side of this deal.

The Glacier echos with the dead of past and present. 3 heroes and 21 support units add to this frozen graveyard. All that remain standing from the lastest battle there are my Spiderqueen and one very disrurbed human swordsman escort.

My forces in the South press on, hoping to avoid a similar fate, but resigned to whatever may befall them.

Were attacked by surprise. The result was a carnage but we must press on.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day11

Another minor skirmish in the North results in 5 more deaths, but the Spiderqueen earns her gold medal. She is looking forward to an encounter with the Iron Maiden or Serena directly, but these scrub road blocks have been effective at keeping my mighty warrior in place.

In the South, my troops seem to be having their own way. A mine has been taken and a power node will shortly fall. If I can not battle Serena directly perhaps I can starve her out.

A mine in the North and a powernode in the South have been wrested from the elves are added to my growing empire. My troops continue their march, devouring all before them as locusts in the field. Mwuhuhuhuhuhu!!!

A slow day -- nothing to capture or kill.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day14

In the North we continue to consolidate the troops.

In the South we are finally advancing, and the troops there have discovered a nest of Dwarves. The Orcs in the retinue think perhaps they could make a home out of it . . .

Arachna - Dark elves - Day15

In the North we are consolidated -- into disaster. The Iron Maiden cut through the gold-medal spider queen like a hot knife through butter. The 3 heavy cavs units fell like flies, and the 4 remaining swordsmen wiffed 12 times as the Elven Witch landed with each blow. I still hold Glacier with a skeleton crew, but without the spider queen they are no defense. Ha! -- even WITH the spiderqueen they would be no defense. Next turn the North and all of its resources will belong to Serena . . .

Out of spite I have Boar attack Durbin and raze the Outpost to dust. The Boar slays the avengers as well to add insult to injury, and he heads North to harrass the Maiden.

In the South I find the Dwarves well defended, but I have reinforcements on the way. My troops have cut off their Northern escape route, and in a few turns the town will be mine to migrate to Orcs for a new launching point into the heart of Serena's Kingdom.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day16

Serena’s dwarves decide to attack rather than wait for my reinforcements. They decide to attack the stronger of my two groups, and die to the last. The weaker of my groups walks into the now empty dwarven town and claims it for our crown. A dark priest also arrives and tends to the wounded. My shade, bladedancer, and executioner need some healing before pressing on.

The Iron Maiden is nowhere to be seen, so Glacier lives another day. That gives me six cities to Serena’s one. In addition, my wild boars slay a monk and capture another watermill. Serena’s resources must surely be dwindling.

Serena and her Iron Maiden have decided on defense and now reside in the capital. The Maiden herself is as powerful as an army, so my Southern army pauses just long enough to allow the new Northern army to approach as well. The scampering boars add another water node to their collection, and scouts in the North spot another pest hiding a bit to close to a well traveled road.

My Northern army is two days out from the Elven capital -- My Southern army one day out. Though Serena issues formal challange and I am sorely tempted, I will not attack until both armies can participate. I have seen of what the Iron Maiden is capable, and I shall take no unnecessary risks this close to victory.

The bloddbath commences in two days time -- I salute all those who are about to die.

Arachna - Dark elves - Epilouge

In the end it was over quickly. 18 of my warriors against 5 of Serena's. Despite the Iron Maiden, enchantments and her sole use of magic, my forces simply overran Elf Queen's defenders. Danny's Sock has but one ruler now.

Thanks for a fun game Manuk! Your Gladerunners had me paranoid the entire time, especially when you sacked two of my cities in one turn I ended up putting a garrison everywhere, and that really slowed down my attack and ate up my gold

Good luck in the doubles tourney -- maybe we will meet next round. if you'd like a rematch on this map with sides reversed, I'm open to that as well. I'll go post the results tonight.
