Arachna - Dark elves - Day1

I have been summoned from the void, and find a land ripe for my harvesting. My fine troops have been sent out to do just that.

TS; a restart message greeted me as I opened my first turn, and I don't know how that can even be humanly possible

Arachna - Dark elves - Day2,3

Mostly manuvering and positioning over the last few days. Three riftspawn proved tougher than I had anticipated and I lost a few scrubs. The survivors are becoming hardened verterans, however.

Made contact with Arachna. She has lost a hero, but recruited a new one. So we are still 1-1.

Luck has not been with me in this campaign; all that CAN go wrong HAS gone wrong. My troops dig in for a tough fight to salvage what we can. A unicorn phased into my teritory to take a windmill, but then had no escape route; my bladedancer was on hand to destroy the interloper.

My woes continue as the Northern front collapses. My troops raze Glacier before they are slaughtered, and I pin all of my hopes on the Southern offensive.

A slow day with little action and no immediate threats. I put this unexpected lull to good use with maneuvering, consolidating, and a few rush builds. Perhaps I can recover from the Northern disaster after all.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day8

The lull has been put to VERY good use. I spring my desperate trap of three days making on the Iron Maiden -- two heavy cav units is the small price that I pay to rid the world of that Elven witch and her Unicorn escort. Without the Iron Maiden the North has drastically turned from the Elves' strength to their greatest weakness. I plan to take full advantage of that. Heh -- I almost regret razing Glacier -- but the sight of the screaming refugees and burning buildings is a beautiful memeory that will last a lifetime.

Elsewhere, my hero gains a level, captures a magic node, and acquires an artifact of great power. Bayou continues to pour forth troops for the Southern offensive. The Shade and Bladedancer rush to optimal locations.

What a difference in perspective one day can make.

Well, the lull is over. Serena insists on occupying the North by paying a personal visit. Except for the little mine in the NE, I bow to her wishes and leave the area -- for now. I am curious what has brought her so far from home and onto the ice.

Nothing of importance today.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day10

I have deduced Serena's plans for for her journey to the ice -- her disappearing aura hinted at an underground forage. A summoned Boar confirmed that she was indeed there, and traveling with only a light escort of a single swordsman. The Boar has stopped her plans, and he is well rewarded. It is a strange world where my wild pigs slay the mightiest of champions, but my heroes and spiderqueen fail miserably. I'm sure that there is a deep and moving moral lesson here somewhere, but I have not the time nor inclination to divine it.

From the city of Bayou we witness an army of enemy Dwarves capture a power node and slay its defenders without any losses to themselves. Though they are our advesaries, we salute them for their bravery and skill, and my army wonders if Bayou is next on the Dwarves' list of conquests.

Fighting skills of your boars are incredible I wonder if you really need any other troops...

Today I'm making plans of defence. Dwarven army isn't powerful enough to invade enemy territory, but I hope it can guard themself.

P.S. Restart as I accidently opened old turn 10 file again. There were no battles today.

All of my troops add a boar's head symbol to their shield or tunic, and consumption of pork is prohibited until the end of the campain to honor my new champions

The troops begin to move again now that all of my uints are in proper position. I wish that I could hurry production of summoned units.

My Troops sweep the Galcier and begin to make a general advance. Boars spotted a Gladerunner, and a heavy cav unit took care of the pest control problem. Troops in the South try to advance as well, but the swamp is a slow way to travel.

Wow! Somehow, even with Serena's rock bottom reputation, she has been able to lure a champion to her cause. Heh, we welcome Lilly to the war, and hope to meet her VERY soon >

Two more mines and a power node have been added to the cause. Since we could not kill anything today, that will have to be good enough.

The day of massacre is really near. A second army of orcs and *trembling in fear* b-b-boars is coming from another direction, completly surrounding remains of my forces. We have to figth at the very treshold of our home.

Arachna - Dark elves - Day16

A pioneer settles upon the ruins of Sock Glacier. Tomorrow it shall become a thriving Orc community, and a staging point for a second assult should my first wave fail.

Yes, my Boars continue to dominate. A newly summoned pig arrives at Durbin and completely razes the outpost. The boar then slaughters the avengers to gain a silver medal. He joins his brothers in the northen army before it presses on. The swine are more decorated than the troops they travel with!

In the South, the drinking days of the Dwarves are over. They fought long and hard, but in the end they were simply overrun by my greater numbers and superior quality. My troops sang songs honoring the bravery of the fallen defenders, and when the songs were done they burned down the city.

My Hero, Shade, Bladedancer and Executioner all survive the encounters, which is great news. The Shade and Executioner also gain silver medals as they finished off the avengers from the Hillburg razing.

Two cities razed, one ruin rebuilt, and 15 assorted troops slain. Not bad for a day's work.

Serena : Last Day Of War.

Today Arachna was defeated! When my last stronghold was about to fall, my elite druids reached their target. First captured Arachna's Capital, and second assasinated Arachna herself.

While your armies were defeating one my group after another I used all my resourses to organize this raid. I was defeated by Adolf13 same way recently, so I decided to try this strategy myself. And it was successful.

Thanks for amazing game!

posted 06-27-03 10:05 AM EDT (US)     32 / 34
Hmmmm, I had patrols out lookng for Gladerunners, and that should have worked to find Druids as well. Oh well, I haven't had a chance to look at the game yet. But if you managed to sneak enough Druids past my patrols to stage two seperate raids on Arachna AND my Capital, and win both of the battles, then it is certainly a fine victory for you. There were so many strange and freaky battles in this game anyway, nothing would surprise me.

Our games have been very interesting Evil Roc, and real learning experiences. Kudos to you on a fine game and a great gambit! If you are up for a rematch, I wouldn't mind trying the Elven side. If your schedule doesn't permit it, I understand.

Two druids crossed the lake just during previous turn. I meant to use both for attacking your capital and was quite dissapointed when your wizard walked away. But one managed to reach him (on his last movement points) and another easely defeated weak defenders of city. Both druids had bless/enchanted weapon on them, of course.

I'm open for a rematch, if you set up the game.

P.S. Have you received the turn? If not I can resend it.

I recieved the game, I just didn't have a chance to look at it until now. I'm pretty sure I see what you did, and back-tracked the one (and only) way that you could have done it. Ha, ha, you lucked out big time too by my moving the archer out that turn from the capital, and bringing my Wizard back just within range. But you made your own luck by having your guys where you needed to and the forsight to set it up and to pull it off. It was a nice trap and very well done.

OK, I'll set up a rematch, probably Sunday or Monday (I'm gone for a short weekend trip.) I'll talk to you then.

Again, nice game.
