I see a few cities and a pile of resources that needs to be liberated. Also, an underground hole beckons.

Hey there. I'm guessing that we've all been spending our AOW2 time getting set up for the doubles tournament -- which is absolutely fine. Just checking in to make sure that aim22 hasn't sent me the turn yet -- if you have, I haven't received it. If you haven't had a chance to get to it yet, no problem.

Yes, is a mistake. Didn't I correct that in the tournament version?

One pair of them are set to patrol in the tournament version that's downloadable from the BTOOIC site.

Great map, though, and we could have caught it also when we looked at the map before playing.

Shoot -- I just double-checked the BTOOIC version of the map, and the magic servants are all set correctly. The problem only seems to be in the version of the map that's posted here at AOWH. Which I guess must be the version that we're playing. I hope that there aren't any other glitches that made it in.

Yet another slow day of troop relocation.

Turn not sent yet -- Apparently the map I downloaded from AoW Heaven had a mistake where one set of magic servants was set on Patrol instead of Area Guard. Evil Roc or Aim22, if either of you wants to restart the game using a corrected version of the map then that seems fair to JWorth and me -- I'll set up a new game with the same sides on the updated map. If you guys want to continue playing on this map then let me know and I'll send the move out to Aim22.

This was the only 'glitch' in that map.

The servants were mainly placed to prevent turn-order effects (meaning the first one to start won't be able to race scouts to the campsite/pickable-resources because he started first).
Patrol actually serves that same purpose if it came out that left cave (although less). I doubt it will influence the game much, considering the 'stalemate' design.

Some thoughts, hope you won't mind the unasked advice!

There was one more difference - in BTOOIC variant air elemental in mountains is removed. I was quite surprised when it attacked my army in our game. So continuing game seems quite fair to me. You were attacked by magic servants, and I by elemental.

Still, as I had written in letter, if all prefer to resart I'll agree. Otherwise (if Aim22 would like to contuinue) I'm for continuing too.

That's why we're offering the restart, becuase you and Aim22 might not think that it was fair that you had to fight your Magic Servants (set on Area Guard) and JWorth got to hire his. If he showed up in battle with a few Magic Servants, you guys could cry foul and you'd be justified to do it. So we're letting you know now what happened (that he hired two magic servants that were set on "Patrol" by mistake) before we go any farther.

If you and Aim22 are OK with it, then we'll just continue and I'll get the move out. If you decide to restart on the corrected map (all MS on Area Guard) than we can do that too, since we want to be fair to you guys.

Sorry again for the confusion.

Sorry about this everybody -- I realized that we were in trouble the moment the magic servants appeared on the horizon...I would have killed them if I could have, but my forces weren't properly set up for it. I had to do something, though -- they were right in the path of my scouts to the central mines and gold -- but disbanding would also be a drag, as an 80 GP hit this early in the game would be a real issue on this map. I think that this is probably the best solution, but my apologies for the restart.

OK, I'm setting up the new game using "Tournament Goldrush Mountains" (25.ahm) found at the BTOOIC website. This has all of the Magic Servants and the Air Elemental set on Area Guard.

I'm not sure if Swolte is aware, but there are two versions of this map at the BTOOIC site (15.ahm and 25.ahm). This is what confused me the first time. I'll send the first move out to Evil Roc as soon as I get it set up.

Just so we're all clear, and to repeat what Dafyth said above, in the version we're starting now, the air elemental is present, set on area guard (along with all the other indies).
