Nekron, turn 1

We awoke in our dream world where everything's devastated! But all too soon we have to fight the bushes and trees of the living land. Behind some rocks found a cave. Secured some resources for our treasury.

Moving my troops forward and expanding my domain. A motley crew is being sent to the west to explore the possibility of convincing another city to join us in our fight against the undead menace.
Scouting the caverns for any sign of friend or foe but so far nothing.

Anon - Day 3

Captured some resources to supplement our treasury.
The good races are expecting too much money to fight their own cause - to crush the undead. Have to find some means to buy them off.

Turn sent.

P.S. Will not be able to play my turns between 14-19 Aug since I will be on vacation.

Nekron, turn 4

Today the Goblin city fell under our siege. Our realm has now a reliable companion! - The search for resources goes on.

Captured some production resources and decided to complete a sanctuary so that I can start building some lvl4 units. Seems map is blocked to lvl 3 only.
Moving forward.

What do you mean by that? Do you have the requirements for building lvl4 units but cannot do it?

posted 08-21-03 03:33 PM EDT (US)     11 / 35
If you acquire the last building needed to make level 4 units by capturing a resource site, then you have to wait until the next turn before you can start building your level 4 unit.

"Bump"? - You seem to have little patience! According to our rules a bump is only due after 3 days of languish waiting. And an official action only after 5 days.

Nekron, turn 5

We are reorganizing everything and still search for the beautiful things that the Allmighty has left behind in land!

Stumbled upon a Death Knight haggling with a trio of Dark Elves. Might have to say goodbye to the Unicorn though, short is his life
Had another hero join me in my cause but took almost the whole of my money to buy him.

Final Bolt, that bump was for my question as to whether you received my mail with the savegame or not and not out of impatience. though a little was there

Ok, haven't seen your question in the first place. But I thought a reminder wouldn't be bad anyway.

Nekron, turn 6

Our knight has chosen to pick a jewel instead of risking a fight against the Unicorn. On the East front, our foremost scouting agents have spotted a well protected Elven city which is still totally unperturbed by Anon's advent. We will have to ponder if we should risk to send more troops in here.

TS

The elven town was sighted and the lone scout was slain.
And discovered the troops sent by that foul soul Nekron to claim a city of the light.
Tomorrow shall be the first of the battles between the good and the evil....and we shall prevail, hopefully since I didn't see any vampires in the stack

Meanwhile, I couldn't believe it, my unicorn survived. Seems the stars have rewritten its fate. It captured a death node from Nekron and found some gold besides it....couldn't believe that the knight didn't take it...or maybe Nekron has enough already.....ponders.

Tomorrow shall be an eventful day.

Nekron, day 7

We left the gold there to create a reason for the war! - Now that the Unicorn has taken it, of course it was badly punished by the DarkKnight and removed from the map. Consequently fled into the company of the Dark Elves to replenish his strength. A small group of 3 mixed units are entering now from where the Unicorn came from. We wonder what they are up for?

Before the Elven city in the East we saw ourselves too weak and decided to retreat behind the creek.

Anon - Day 8

Seems like the death knight was wounded sorely by my unicorn ere he joined his comrades in the high heavens. But that death knight shall soon be dead as avengers have emerged to punish him. But I decided not to as I didn't have much chance to win this time around.

Stole some gold and mana from right under the nose of the undead swordsman...wonder how he is feeling now since his mission failed coz he was one hex short?.

And my rogues advancing towards one of the camps has sighted a wyvern rider heading for some gold...that he will get for sure but what about his life?.

Today we captured the Elven town without any casualities and also eliminated the spider keeping a watch on everything. But I fear it should have been done in the reverse order as now Nekron knows exactly what I have in store for him should he decide to attack.

But a disturbing event has brought a frown to the face of Anon. A kharagh was seen killing my lone scout. It has been seduced by one of the tramps of Nekron, no doubt....but even then, countering it is a problem.
*puts on his thinking cap*

Nekron, day 8

Many things are going on now, whether to our ultimate good or not remains to be seen. Anon is approaching from 4 directions with various units on air and in the woods. We could not risk to attack the sneeking Hobbits as they were 2 against one. And their arrows are sharp. We will have to wait for a better time to kill them.

Ymbria, the Fiendish, has only waited for Chanta to fight the Elven city. Now that Anon's troops are wounded it is our time for attack! She has gathered her bloodthirsty folk and is marching across the river bridge.

TS

posted 08-27-03 11:51 AM EDT (US)     21 / 35
Ah...Anon's troops wounded?? Will your "champion" take on another champion only when she is seriously wounded?.
Fear not though, coz Ymbria has a surprise awaiting for her. The Elven town is now reinforced with another of my brave champions, Arcos and I have given him a couple of artifacts to make his job easier. Also, a Paladin and a Pegasus joins the garrison.
You will be lucky to survive this.

Meanwhile, the knight embracing the company of the Dark Elves was slaughtered as were the Dark Elves themselves. A bladedancer might be of use some turns atleast even if he rebels later.

And Nekron's troops seems to survive by just sucking up as close as possible to the evil creatures guarding the various stuff near the creek.

Nekron, day 9

It is impressive how quickly Anon has brought in valuable inforcements and healed his soldiers completely! Ymbria is hesitating and has withrawn behind the creek, while our Wyverns are keeping a close watch to what the two Hobbits are doing, nestling around in the company of Independents.

Anon - Day 10

Impressive indeed what a Healing spell can do for a couple of units who were injured!!
Meanwhile, the two wyverns keeping a close watch on the hobbits were eliminated after the said hobbits recruited some willing elven folk from a camp nearby.

We do not see any of Nekron's forces heading towards the other bridge on the creek near the dark elven town. Maybe he is building a reaper or two....have to account for that possibility also.

And no sign of that Kharagh also....wonder whats going on in the enemy camp!.

Nekron, day 10

The two Wyvern are a great loss. But at least the bargain was even as now the remaining troops of Anon on that spot were killed or have left his banners. One of our countless vamps have emerged from the woods and took a victorious march through the loose enemy lines. The surviving Hobbit now looks both startled and somewhat fascinated.

What is going on in our camp I will tell you later on.

Well, the vampire certainly played havoc, I must agree. Two units lost and 3 seduced. But two of the units who were feeling terrible were relieved from their suffering. But then I realised that the scout who had lberated them was likely to be seduced himself next turn. So, I just disbanded him.

Meanwhile, I still see no incursions on the other front. My faithful eagles have flown deep into the enemy territory and still they have sighted nothing.

My pegasus found the nearby orc town totally deserted. What a prize!!! But no movepoints to get there. And Ymbria will be there next turn.

But its good to see the dark hordes fleeing.
Or is it a tactic?. For, I see that all the units still have some movepoints left over and still they are stationed there. Is Nekron luring me into a trap?.
Will wait a couple of more turns to get a titanic power supporting my front troops.

Nekron, day 11

The Dark Hordes feeling? Not in this world! Your little Garuda has been too lightfooted. One of our Wyverns wished to take terrible revenge for his slaughtered brothers and in a fierce attack and strengthened by deadly powers smashed Anon's white flyer. Although against all reason and the magical winds of her wizard. A brave deed!

If Anon's troops continue to disband one by one we will soon have the opposite town.

Anon - Day 12

A brave deed indeed. It is heartening to know that even such pitiable creatures can do a heroic deed before knocking on death's door.
Why do I espy the foul seductress and her stooge still in the forests?. Perhaps they have become so enamoured of each other that they have decided to quit the battle and instead romp in the woods?

The absence of that Kharagh is still bothering me. Where can he be?.
My support unit has started from the capital...but should he go and strengthen the underground dwarven town or come to further strengthen my strike force?
Decisions, decisions. But I have decided to send him underground with a winged rider for an escort.

Anon - Day 13

Not believe a word??. It will be better for your morale, I guess.

My winged riders have spotted a decent stack of units heading towards the recently migrated halfling city. But my avengers there are more than a match for anything that Nekron can throw against them.

The goblin city in the south seems to be poorly guarded with just a priest and almost-dead wyvern...have to make plans for that.

And today Anon blessed Nekron's troops with a smattering of Holy Woods. You should have heard them yelp in pain.

The vamp and her stooge seem to have disappeared. Where can they be gone?.

Nekron, turn 13

Timelord, I'm sorry but I think I have to give up on this game. I went into a haunted crypt and it proved to be real haunted by computer cheating! A flock of Undead ant-eaters, inflicting the most adventurous damage, has destroyed my Western army. They practiced resurgence not every 3 turns as the rules state but *each* turn, so there was no chance to win for our few people.

I received my second hero only in turn 12 which has hampered any counterattack in the West front. All of this is partly my own fault and certainly not yours. Although our little stand-still war has interesting aspect, I guess we have come to an end here. From the positions you already reached, you surely have earned the victory!

Regretingly,

Final Bolt,

In crypts, even if your units die, they resurge as zombies which fight you. But I am sure you would have seen what was inside the crypt before taking it on....or didn't you?.

Besides, you still have a sizeable army on the Eastern front and a Kharagh hiding some place too!.
I have not received my turn yet so I do not know the exact position you are in....but I wanted to tell you that I enjoyed playing with you and I was hoping that we would have a good match on this map.

If you want to play with sides switched, I am game for it!!!
But if your time is being taken up by SM (which has been released in Germany recently I believe), no problems...maybe we can have one on SM sometime later.

And can you send me the savegame?

posted 09-09-03 02:53 AM EDT (US)     32 / 35
Hm, if you allow me for a restart and not go into that bloody crypt, we can continue. But for a ladder game this is perhaps not convincing. I'm still a bit surprised you seem didn't notice that Kharag is independant!

I guess seeing what is inside the crypt before entering is only possible in SM, and I'm not playing with SM (are you?). (I'ld still regard resurgence *each turn* computer cheating!)

Hmmm....as you said, the alternative you suggest is not good for a ladder game. Tell you what, if you want to continue this game, I will allow you that one restart...but not for the ladder.
You see, I have already posted the results in the game results thread....but we can continue the game from this point on as a non-WL game, if you so wish, just to see what the result is.

But I didn't notice the Kharagh as an independent.....it killed my scout and I didn't notice that it was an independent.

But you can see what is inside the crypt in AOWII if it is in your domain. Just attempt to cast an enchantment over it and you can see the units inside. Hope this helps in future forays against the indies. As for SM, I haven't even got it yet....probably in another 3 weeks time.

Ok. But I'ld prefer to play a new game against you. Give me some days rest and I'll set up another round with changed sides.

Hey Final Bolt,
No problem.....set one up when you are free...but I will be away on an assignment from Sep 20 - Oct 6. Hence, I won't be able to play during that time.
