Phobious - day 1

The southern lands look rich and I deserve to rule them. You can bet no rabble rousing nomads are going to stop me.

Ke-nan day 1

Khaan and two chieftains departed for their first kill in a long list to come. Top of that list: Phobius.

Phobious - Day 2

My young leader Mynar, a paladin, clears a camp of orcs and finds a small treasure.

Quick as Nomads we're discovering the lands.

Phobious - Day 3

Mynar dispatched another band of listless and idle poachers who camped in my royal hunting grounds. They had a special weapon among their possessions which Mynar will use.

We just love our speed. So much to conquer, so little time.

Phobious - Day 4

Today the forces of Ke-nan spotted for the first time.

Ke-nan day 4

We've spotted units in service of the pompous Phobius. We'll first have other business to attend though.

I had to reinstall windows today (thanks to a shortcircuit yesterday), thus the restart in all of my games.

My troops in the west slay a knight and bring a human village into my fold.

Three victories in a single day... we're rich once again!

Restart, because of windows reinstall.

Lots of conquerings today. Even more predicted for tomorrow.

Phobious - Day 7

No action today. Tomorrow should be different.

Not much action in my realms too. Predictions for tomorrow: plenty of action!

Phobious - Day 9

My pet trapped a rodent. The thieving desert rat is quick as a doom wolf but I don't think he'll get out of the hole he's in now. Stealing the emperor's mill is a death penalty.

We already know that Phobius will pay for touching my horse archer. Pay tomorrow!

Phobious - Day 10

A disastorous day. The nomads have shown up too quickly and I wanted to toy with them a bit before I destroy them.

Ke-nan day 10

We released the fat guy of one of his towns. Seems like the lands lie wide open!

---

PS I could have chosen to accept your units surrender, but I didn't and chose to fight, cause it felt wrong to take your town for free. Till surrender works better I think we should make this a rule of thumb in our games.

Phobius - Day 11

What uspeakable disasters is this? The nomads have taken one of my towns? I want some justice. I want some blood.

Ke-nan day 11

Three more victories today. Luckily for Phobius we were just practicing vs independents. Let's see if we have a battle going on tomorrow.

Phobious - day 12

I ordered an ill advised attack and it lived up to all it promised. Total disaster!

I hung on to a slim hope that my troops could get lucky with my shade climbing the wall and taking out the archers, one of which was badly wounded and the basilisk breaking the gate of the tower for the melee troops to pour through and get the upper hand. Fine in theory but disaster loomed from the start as the shade was taken out on the second round.

I don't suppose Ke-nan would accept peace now, especially after a halfling rogue in my service took his undefended tigran village.

I await his next move.

Ke-nan day 12

Phobius will be toast soon! Taking my undefended act was not only stupid, but it will be his death too. Any chances for a peaceful solution are gone now.

Khaan and his pet basilisk march on to Phobius's hideout. On the eastside my other troops are taking command over Phobius's former territory.

Ke-nan day 15

My troops wanted to see blood. They wanted to kill the oppressor Phobius so badly that I couldn't hold them much longer. We killed and expelled Phobius from these lands. His place is in the void now!

Couldn't see how the final battle ended, besides the victory.
I think we can conclude that Nomads with haste are something the Humans just cannot match.
I really enjoy our close matches though. And it's good to finally win one too
I'm always game for a new game with you. I think it would be my turn to set one up. Any map suggestions? Or don't you dare anymore

posted 09-03-03 05:13 PM EDT (US)     31 / 36
Just read your post, but haven't checked the turn yet. Nicely played, I was thoufoughly dominated in this one.

When Khaan charged down and took my village in the west it was a complete surprise, though I should have suspected as I was planning the same things as the nomads and knew it was reachable from a spot out of sight.

Yes, the nomads have a definite advantage and the humans would have to have some brilliant and daring strategy to pull off a win. I was thinking of stealing the basilisk on your side of the map, for one, but got quagmired in trying to explore and build up.

I'll post here again with battle details and will post your WL victory after that too.

Actually I'm not dissapointed that you won because if I won again I was worried that you might not want to play me again. That being said, I was still trying my hardest to win. Thouroughly crushing someones cookies and demoralizing them has its own special appeal too.

I'm looking into a new 1 vs 1 map. Any suggestions?

Phobious - Day 16

The enemy approaches from 2 sides. They break through the gates with minimal casualties. I'm dead.

I lost 9. Ke-nan lost 6. He had alot left.

posted 09-04-03 05:18 AM EDT (US)     33 / 36
Hehe interesting, since I was one turn away of stealing your Basilisk too

My troops in the east were more of mix (frosties, tigrans and nomads), thus slower than the guys in the west. That's why I came one turn short of stealing your Basilisk.

Don't worry about demoralizing me. I've lost a lot of games to Castanieda, but I still play him one on one. The bad thing of this is that I USED to always beat him and now it's the other way around.

I'll look for a map when I get home from work. There aren't too many decent PBEM maps for SM yet, but I'll find something.

Hey LTR, give 'Sisters of Fire and Ice' a look. It looks decent to me but I only glanced at it briefly. Check it out and I will to, again. If you see any imbalancing things we can tweak it.

Oh, bye the way, I forgot to address an issue you brought up regarding surrender. Yeah, I too saw that as an option in a battle but think it would not be cool to use. I guess we both agree on that.
posted 09-06-03 05:06 AM EDT (US)     36 / 36
Okido we'll go for that one. It looks pretty balanced though the Frosties will have a hard time fighting off the firemagic.

Like Royal we can always reverse the sides though. I'll pick the Orcs for the first game if you don't mind. I've hardly played them in SM and I've played Frostlings quite a few times already.

Let's have fun again!
