The General - Day1

The Academy is in session -- I must prove my worth to my peers and my advesary. I am without a stronghold, so like any good soldier I scout the area and utilize what I find.

Ahmm. I have a feeling this one skirmish is more important then the rest.
Well then I'll just have to give it my best.

The General - Day2

A series of battles have been brief yet fierce -- the experience gained by the survivors will be very valuable. My troops spy a teleportor and assume that it leads to the mainland. It shall be our next target.

The colonel, 2.

We seem to be somewhat slower then our opponent.
Still some progress was made today.

The teleporter defenders have been removed. Soon we shall advance to the mainland!

More expansion and exploration.

FB -- it is similar, but with some of the imbalances fixed.

The General - Day6

The mainland has not been kind to my troops; they have been attacked by marauders at every step that they take, and have suffered heavy losses. I instruct the survivors to take refuge in a watch tower, knowing that more attacks will come during the night.

The colonel,

My forces have suffered losses.
I am forced to proceed carefully for fear of my opponent's prowess.

The General - Day7

After suffering heavy losses, my forces have finally taken the foul fortress. I see that my opponent has troops nearby as well, so my survivors garrison for a time to heal. Hopefully I can use this as a base for further operations.

The General - Day10

Several small skirmishes, though nothing of import to break the center deadlock. Perhaps the breakthrough will have to come from the underground.

The General - Day11

Much like our earlier game, the break that I've been looking for finally appears. Again it is magic (and the lack thereof) that decides the battle between two powerful and balanced armies.

The Colonel opted to use all 20 of his casting points to dispel some enchantments from a Knight and my weakest hero. Knowing that he was without magic and seeing that he had left his army within range of both of my stacks, I had no choice but to choose this day to attack -- my odds would never be better.

I saved my 40 casting points (30 of my own, 10 from a hero) for battle field pyrotechnics -- the Colonel had none. Though a fireball and two blazing comets greatly helped my army, the slaughter was still horrific: 9 dead on my side and 14 for the Colonel. But my 4 survivors were my two strongest heroes, my gold medal Knight, and a gold medal Cav. I also recovered two very nice artifacts.

My underground army races to rendevous with the surface survivors at the enemy capital. My hope is that these 12 units can capture the Colonel before he can rush build a defense.

The General - Day11

A day of combining offense and defense. A couple of enemy level 2s are flanking my position -- the Foul Fortress is thus reinforced, and Counter-units are sent in to repel the intruders.

The offensive continues as planned.

Colonel, 11.

This time I believe my greater mistake was letting my enemy decide the attack condition. which was the most favorable for him. I should have followed rule #1 in the strat book -retreat from a bad position.

The General - Day13

Ahhhh, the enemy capital is in sight! The Colonel bravely guarded the entrance tower by himself, but he was quicky cut down. My troops are just short of entering the city -- that will have to wait until tomorrow. My scrub units have cut off the underground escape route, and I do not believe the Colonel has enough troops to escape through the teleportor and raze it behind him. But we will have to see what tomorrow holds.

A few enemy units may have had ideas about using the Foul Fortress and her Wizard Tower as a secondary base. But an Archer, Knight and Boar have reinforced my forward command post -- that should be an adequate garrison.

Thanks for a fun game Izaqyos! If you'd like to play again with sides switched, then that would be fine.

If you still have a copy of the map then you can set up, or if you prefer I can set it up tonight. Just let me know.
