Howdy folks!
AOW: SM and AOWII are both not starting up for me; sometimes the initial splash screen comes up, sometimes it wont' get that far.
Always crashes to desktop with the System Time Error - Restart AoW2 in the appropriate log file. Tried patching to latest version, turned off all dxsound acceleration, turned off zonealarm firewall (if that was stopping it).
Any idea on what this is and what I can do to fix it?
'puter specs:
Win XP Pro
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
2GB RAM
SLI w/ 2 nvidia 7900 GT OC

Fixed! Apparently I needed to set the AoWSM.exe executable to use only 1 CPU.
On Windows XP:
1) Start up AoW: SM
2) Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and pull up the Task Manager
3) Right-click the AoWSM.exe executable and click "Set Affinity".
4) Uncheck any and all CPUs until the process can only use 1 CPU
5) Done!
