Someone sent me their map last night, so I am going to vote as if I had NOT seen that map (I could not resist to look!), and just based on my (otherwise) purely blind uneducated guess.
1. The AM Last year he had an amazing map, but the playability and balance was just crazy. If this man manages to restrain his nuttiness, we may see some true brilliance here...
2. Swolte It is unlike anything that has been made before! Also bit risky/unconventional in ways, so I probably won't win.
3. LordDuck Just cause the map he submitted last year was very cool. If he manages to come up with a similar original concept, as well as straightforward design, he can do really well!
I have no order at all for my top3. Any of them could possibly edge out the other two.
LordDuck, nyarlathotep, Swolte
I did enjoy LD and nyarlathotep's work last year. So why not this time? Their original work and the playing version of the 1v1 Tourney doesn't have too much different. I really hope them to shine brighter this year. The AM and Groll's maps were fun to play last year but balance-wise, not so much
I probably should put ibobs in the top3 instead of Swolte as our seraph has never had any 1v1 map but in the end his experience in making things balance and playable edge out ibobs's quality. So unless he puts out a 'crazy' work like the Groll or the AM I'd put ibobs as a potential candidate for top3.
Edit: Oops I didn't realize that we give points for top3. If possible I'd give 2 each for the top3 and 1 for ibobs.

You can't give out more points than 6 (sorry, we have to have some rules) so I'll accommodate this by giving 2 points to each.

1.Swolte 2.Lord Duck 3.Enginerd
Swolte is an obvious choice, I like Lord Ducks mappainting style and Enginnerd probably became quite the balancer.
Why I don't vote for myself? To give hope to the rest
Offcourse my map is the best, but seriously, I every mapmaker probably thinks the same as I do... Quite surprised though that I allready have 3 points O_o

Hopefully this becomes truth.

I will not vote here even when I have not seen any of the maps and have no email with the maps from Chow so far.
But I think anyone should be careful. I see two unknowns mapmakers or pseudonyms in this contest. This are wildcards.
What I donīt like this little discussion anyway and the pure idea of this poll. How can we dare to vote if we donīt know anything. I think this is a little bit shameless or deprecatingly for all mapmakers that participate in this contest and show a little bit less respect. I know you donīt mean it bad and donīt want to do exactly this (shameless or deprecatingly) but itīs little bit like this for me.
The AM and Groll's maps were fun to play last year but balance-wise, not so much[
How can you dare to rate about balance for my map if you reject my game offer on the same map? Only because you are a weakling and have fear to play it my friend This map is very balanced btw.
I donīt want to harm anybody with my words. As judge in this contest I will be as fair as possible and will try to find as much high-class workmanship in this maps and vote for it. In the end my big belly will find the right no. 1... Hopefully. And if not I am only 1/4 of the judges vote.

I've seen one of the maps (except mine), so I'll try to take the same approach as Swolte
1. nyarlathotep 2. The AM 3. LordDuck
All three are very good mapmakers, which can be seen when looking at their sections of our MMBEM map. I haven't voted for Swolte, because he already has lots of points (and I have a reason not to vote for myself)

I guess this is why real polls don't let you see the results only until after you have voted!
(and I have a reason not to vote for myself)
Modesty?
Poll updated! I was expecting more votes for iBobs, though.
Thanks M! Wait till your baby is a year old, and then you can (maybe) breath for yourself! PS So I am aiming for 1% then - I still have a shot!

@TheGroll: This is purely for fun and speculation You should enjoy it
Of course there will be surprises like last year. Except KingDavid, Timelord who would have thought that veteran map makers like TheGroll or Fubarno... didn't make it among the tops. It's not that their maps aren't good. It's just that they didn't respond to certain criteria of the Tourney requirements. The most important one IMO is game speed. Winning maps often end in 15-20turns something that nice maps like Groll's simply can't. IMHO, as long as the 1vs1 PBEM Tourney influences the Map making Tourney, the top3 maps aren't always the best maps to play. If you don't believe me, check out the maps that didn't make it last year to see for yourself.

@Chow Guy
I have received your two emails and opened the map-pack-zip-file. I see that we have 13 mapmakers participate in this contest but I only count 12 maps in this zip file. So I think something is wrong here. Please respond as fast as possible.

We can discuss this is you like but I think the judges last year wasnīt very good.
@ Chow, OK received your answer email. Would you please give the information about the missed map and mapmaker to the public?
And the other "strange thing" I found in two of the maps?
@All I have taken a fast look at all maps now and found enough nice things inside all the map that make voting very hard. All maps are interesting, some are very nice, no map is boring or poor. It will be difficult work for me. I will start with a document where I count all good and bad things that I find in all the maps to compare them later. Then I will try to understand story, events and all the interesting things inside the maps. I will collect information for the voting procedure try to figure out the mapmakers (one is very clear).
Then I think I need to play most of the maps because some have very "interesting" setups and event lists. Itīs sometimes impossible to vote without playing but even playing will not help in some cases because the maps and event lists are so... Letīs say: "Interesting".
Depending on how much time I have I am unsure if the 15. April can be a final date. But I think passion is better than a fast and unfair shot.
Would you please give the information about the missed map and mapmaker to the public?
Well, I don't suppose it will hurt. There is no submission from KillKenny. Sorry Morgul, you'll just have to do without your brew for this year
As for the other, see my email, and I really don't think it's appropriate discussing this in public, nor to be "guessing" who submitted what map. One of the instructions was that you NOT discuss the judging among yourselves, and I think that goes for posting in-thread as well.

I think the same. All is clear now after some emails I start today with creating some docs to help myself being as fair as possible in the end.
as thereīs no Guiness participating on the tourney, Iīll give my remaining point to Albaron! Iīm very curious to see his (afaik) first complete work (a completely selfmade map) as soon as the pack is released!
After the voting of last year, I dont see how a very unusal map can win it, so sorry Swolte (!) I think you shoot yourself here.
My votes go for LordDuck first (3) as Mountain of the Gods was just class, then PunctureBox for 2 points as an unknown map maker always seems to produce something good, and then myself at third place just because!
I actually predict Swolte at fourth and myself at fifth...

My goofy map is there to keep the water in the bucket.
Seriously though, I can't step in to throw wild guesses. I could use highly accurate D12 to do it for me...

a little sound from me today. I am working and it is really hard to scan all the good maps. Will be a difficult and small path. I donīt see a true looser but a lot winners. Some maps are "straight forward" some are "curly" but most are nice and a lot interesting. Finding the mapmakers is really hard and itīs only guessing.
Itīs just for fun of course and when I scatter all the maps into small peaces I also have fun finding the mapmaker. There are no points to gain for the mapmakers for this but points to loose if I find their names inside the map. I found one so far
I remember judging last year... and I couldn't figure out who made which map... and there was far too much work to do to worry about it... although... I did have a really strong idea at which map the Groll made, some of his signature events tipped me off I think
*says to self... I sure I hope I took my name out of the map *
OK... My top 3... (with a little help from my kids who are looking at the names and choosing the ones they like the best.... and boy is it funny to hear them try and pronounce my top pick)
and boy is it funny to hear them try and pronounce my top pick
Why doesn't that surprise me...?
Anyhow, I think you guys are giving me too much credit for this year... Yes, my map is good, true, but you guys let me feel allmost like a messiah for the "new batch" of mapmakers... So guys, stop giving me points, because you're all making me blush . Besides, I wasn't totally focused on making the map, so don't expect too much of this years map.
But if it would get through the judges' voting, I promise I'll do some decent work on it to give it the same quality as my last work & sections.
