UGPM 1.1

What is fixed:

- you won't get "pow domain errors"
- colors won't become transparent in the game

I'm going to make a new GUI version of UGPM (based partially on HamletG's UGPM_gui).

No pow domain errors! That means I can change contrast/brightness at minus, right?

Yes you can, but I doubt you get interesting effects.

Its disturbing to not be able to do that.

I must test Warlord units that have explosions as death animations and see if I don't have to remove death animation and recolor and then put it death animation back again.

It doesn't work

PawelS can you make it possible to create new filter in your new gui version of ugpm?
posted 05-16-05 07:37 AM EDT (US)     8 / 34
Version 1.5 is almost finished. It's not GUI, but it works in a window instead of "console" (black screen).

New features include resizing and changing the alpha blend value.

I'll be on a trip until May 28th, after that I'll release UGPM 1.5.

@Tearion: I don't know what you mean by "create new filter".

I have to create filters in text file and then change them in gui. I want to create filters direct in gui without the need of closing gui and open text file and add filter and then close text file and then open gui.

Yes Excellent work!

I wanted also add a size function to the units_extrator(u_exp), but you has this excellent solved and i will not intersect with your elemantar tool.
(let some to do for my tool :P)

I think, to know now why the UGPM_GUI(/ILBEditor).exe sometimes crashed, it is the bad
wxmsw24.dll. I use for my GUI the brand new wxmsw26.dll.
You will use again wxWidgets for the new GUI?
I will learn it too and a bit C++

Well, that's an old story. (even if I can sometimes which overlook) Means that no, to my question?

I think you tool dont need (next future) coloring 16bit support.

Have a nice (vacation in France?) trip!

I was never abroad only in Poland, but we are EU.

I use Borland C++ Builder, and I don't plan to use wxWidgets or anything else (unless someone convinces me that it's better).

France is in EU too (I'm visiting my family if you want to know)

The units: HE_Moonguard, HE_Highelvenhero, WE_Forestguard and DE_Blackguard and DA_Imp from Warlords mod is not working with upgm1.1. HE_Moonguards attack animation is messed up in ugpm gui but the others looks good in there.

Hi guys,

I haven't showed up much lately, I travel a lot for work nowadays. I was asked to provide the source code of some of the stuffs I made for AOW, no problem I will do so next time I will be few days at home ;-) which doesn't happen so often lately :-(

I should have few days next week to do the "job".

As a fast measure, I would just put the source code on my webpage. When time allows, I could try to put that on sourceforge if few guys are interested to co-develop something.

Ok, have to go ... I'm in a middle of a meeting ;-)

PawelS how's it going with Upgm version 1.5?
There's lots of units that I have recolored that doesn't work with ugpm 1.1.

Sorry, I was too busy with the 1.4 patch lately. I think I'll have more time this week to finish UGPM 1.5.

It works when I use "ugpm.bat" included in dwiggmod 4.5 instead of "ugpm1_1.exe"
posted 07-25-05 11:42 AM EDT (US)     23 / 34
I think "ugpm.bat" uses HamletG's ugpm_gui.com, which is a part of his UGPM_gui. It works with multi-palette units, but there's a bug in it (originating from my ugpm 1.0), which may cause some parts of units to become transparent in the game (but in most cases it works well).

I'll use ugpm 1.5 when it comes so I won't get transparency. There's one unit that does not recolor with ugpm.bat. The background is green instead of the usual blue in ugpm_gui. The name is b_solar_blue_normal_sword. I would really like to use a recolor I made of this ilb to be a angel in my mod. Please check with ugpm 1.5 if it can be recolored.
posted 07-25-05 11:43 PM EDT (US)     25 / 34
What means multi-palette exactly? I think I saw times one.

I promised PawelS before long time an addon(to his ilb.packs) with included all 216units converted
(now with "u_ex") to 28(8bit/one-palette) units.
I think tomorrow I can give it to it.

Quote:

All this units (from Pawels) have lime/green background and
the original units (from AoW2) have magenta background.
But it doesn't matter.

_B_Solar_Blue_Normal_Sword
Need this dead fix too!?

P@welS (Which I wanted to ask always times.)
How can (you)one put/import many frames/images with one/same name(or for sequences) in a ILB?

All standard AoWSM units (except Merlin, which is 16 bpp) are single-palette 8 bpp sprites, i.e. all frames use the same 256-color palette.

Multi-palette ILBs have 8 bpp sprites as well, but more than one palette is used. You can't see how many palettes are there in an ILB until you open it on a hex viewer/editor. UGPM 1.5, like UGPM_gui, will be able to recolor multi-palette ILBs.

ILBs with 16 bpp sprites (most units from BG/IWD with multiple weapon versions) have no palettes at all and therefore they can't be recolored by any version of ugpm (including 1.5), so firegolem's conversions are welcome.

Quoted from firegolem:

If you have an image with multiple frames (in borders), you can import them to ILEd using the "Multi" grab mode.

so.. firegolem have fixed so I can recolor _B_Solar_Blue_Normal_Sword?
posted 08-05-05 03:16 PM EDT (US)     28 / 34
Sorry, I did not think that tomorrow is so a long time.
And some complications arose(PawelS helped me).
I finished/uploaded the 8bit-conversion-Pack a moment ago.
I've even written PawelS and he must only give it free.

[edit]
I think all 16bit-units are included/properly, if not tell it(continue in the infinity thread).
Most (ilb)indexes are the same as the old.

I understand now the Multi-Grab mode, it works fine, after PawelS send me a sample(with border).

@Tearion
I asked PawelS because of Death-ani. and he said to me that the Solar-units have unfortunately none. So that we must take some Hit-Frames and a magic explosion/effect as replacement.
For the Idle-ani you can double it if you add this same backwards in the frame-table(AoWEditor).

PawelS are you busy with the patch or irl? I want ugpm 1.5! :-)

Just read that you are doing a program for mld. Maybe you can make ugpm 1.5 after that if you have time.

Yes, the final version of UGPM 1.5 is not needed for the upatch so it's delayed, now I'm making a program that converts MLD files to TXT and vice versa. I have some other things to do for the patch, so I can't promise that UGPM 1.5 will be out before the patch release. If you can't wait, I can send you the current version, most of the new features (all 3 methods of resizing, alpha blend correction) are working. Only one planned feature is not implemented: multi-palette ILB support.
