In the early days of Kirunia there were many quarrels and disagreements between the different Gods. They only had one thing in common, all of them considered himself or herself to be the most powerful of all Gods. Everybody knows that a God is immortal, and therefore they could not fight each other to find out who is the strongest.

So, the Gods decided to create a Chess Game where their individual ranking would be decided each year. All of the Gods had similar resources and they all constructed an intelligent race to represent them in the Chess Game. When they were all finished it looked like this:

God of Air - Humans
God of Heat - Azracs
God of Cold - Frostlings
God of Water - Lizards
God of Life - Elves
God of Earth - Dwarves
Godess of the Day - Halflings
God of Light - Highmen
Godess of Dark - Dark elves
God of the Night - Goblins
God of Fire - Orcs
God of Death - Undead

Then they created an artificial World that they called The Divine Chess Board. Once a year each God chooses a Champion to fight for him or her and thereby decide the ranking of that particular God for a whole year. The winning God will have most influence over the happenings in Kirunia during this year. The Champion that gets killed first will have made their God the least influential this year.

This year you have been chosen to represent one of the Gods in this battle. You have been promised eternal life in the Hall of Heroes if you win, and you figured that saying no to a God would probably not be a wise move. Determined to destroy the others you start gathering your forces and begin your campaign.

Highmen day 1

We spread out to secure the area and achieve a better economic situation. One of the life nodes was guarded by a gold dragon, but it was taken care of by our brave soldiers. One stoic archer got flamed by holy flames, but otherwise this day must be said to be a good start to this Chess Game. We now look to our neighbours for new resources.

Searched two treasure areas and found 4 weapons and 2 projectile weapons. Not a particularly good variety there. If my hero had four arms and two brains, this could have been a deadly set of artifacts, but not now. Will have to dig some more...

One battle didn't turn out as we had hoped today. New plan formed and set into motion. We now possess three helmets and another weapon as well. Still we don't have a single ring, armor or shield.

Today there were some great battles fought at our borders. Many soldiers died, most on our enemy's side. If they do not retaliate during the night, we hope to crush them very soon.

Well, our enemies didn't retaliate so now we have killed some more of them. Lizard presence spotted from the seaside. Something has to done about that threat.

The dark elves of Miriam Crow have been defeated. Our brave hero Brant Applewood has finished them off for good today, and he has earned a lot of valuable experience in the process of destroying them.

The humans have also suffered heavy losses, and soon we will have taken their fruitful lands as well. The lizard problem will soon be stopped too. (If a single archer can be called a problem)

We see the end of the Hobbits with orcs nearby.

Battle is raging amongst the others and we watch and try to anticipate which way the tide will turn.

As expected we were able to destroy the last troops of Sir Redwind today. We also made contact with the azracs who immediately got to feel the strenght of the highmen. One of their yakas got too close and is now dead.

We hear notice of the goblins kicking the bucket. We suspect the frostlings are responsible. Well, we are moving towards new targets now as well.

Today we spotted a large frostling army led by a frost drake. Well, we considered ourselves strong enough to destroy the invaders and moved in for the kill... only to realize that the enemy forces were led by Hubert the Hunter himself. That culprit seemed to have found something that made him invisible. Since he was wounded we decided to make a heroic charge to try to catch his scalp anyway. The battle that followed was an epic one where both sides fought valiantly, and it could have ended in any side's favor. The outcome was a glorious victory for the...

Sad news.. Leaderless the Frostlings are. We try and bolster defenses against hero-led Highmen forces and must be wary now..

A couple of small skirmishes with the frostlings today. We hear news that they are leaderless, but we will be very careful in the coming days. Their general is known for his skill and cunning, so we will try not to do anything too hasty.

Elsewhere we are bathing in azrac and orc blood. Their troops are falling like leaves to our strong blades. A renegade red dragon is all that remains of the orcish empire now. At least we think so...

Today sees the end of the azrac empire. Quickly rushing forth to find new enemies to fight.

Today we made real contact with the frostlings. Several battles were fought and many good soldiers lost their lives. We start to wonder what the Gods were thinking when they created this Chess Game. Soon there will be blood all over the chess board...

Elsewhere progress has been made as well. One of our heroes ended his movement in a possibly dangerous spot. We shall see what tomorrow brings.

We stole a lot of resources from the frostlings today. No sign of a huge defensive force yet. They will be there we assume.

Also, we found a legion of elves trying to intimidate Brant Applewood. They are now adding to the red color of the divine chessboard.

We were able to track down that last red dragon of the orcs today. Thus, King Izor has been defeated. Some new gains were made today, but all in all it was quite a calm day compared to yesterday and the day before.

We have seen some progress made by the undead. The elves appear to have been invaded. Well, soon those lands will belong to us instead.
