A New Map A New Game

The final end map of my new campaign features a very good (IMO) variation of the Oracle's Eye. It is constructed as a 6 person free for all map. Playable races include:

1.) Dark Elves Played by Sprout (Stone Skin)
2.) Halflings Played by Arctic Wolf (Bird's View)
3.) Humans Played by Unicorn (Fire Halo)
4.) Goblins Played by Eriksson (Stone Skin)
5.) Elves Played by Enginerd (Chain Lightning)
6.) Frostlings Played by Lord Lurifax (Haste)

As a Twist each starting player may instruct the Wizard's at the nearby tower to research one level one or level two spell.

Map is being set up awaiting everyones okay, and correction of any minor imbalances noted by the players. I shall send the final version of the map to Sprout once we are all ready.

Humans Day 1

We spend some time pondering, before coming to the conclusion that, yes, there is only one way out!

But before we go forth, we gather some resources, including a nice earth node previously occupied by an earth elemental. Fortunately, it got frozen with our very first shot and died after two rounds without inflicting any damage at all. And our hero adminstered the final blow.

Elves day 1

Shhhhh.... We don't want anyone to know we're around. Such lovely forests around our homeland to conceal ourselves, we enjoy the solitude and quiet, never will we stray from our lands, the peace can never be broken here......

What is this, the quiet spirits of the trees beckon to us... Where is the ancient one the can understand their language? Quick? What are they saying?

The trees speak of terrible things. They say our lands are no longer safe. That we can no longer hide. That evil is approaching. On No! They say we have been cursed with death and fire instead of life and water Whatever shall we do?

We test the borders of our lands to see if the trees speak the truth, what is this so near us? A flying black beast with a foul breath! We must rid this evil from our lands, but how? We have not fought in centuries... We pick up ancient weapons that have not been used, hopefully they will still work. The trees have spoken the truth. Evil approaches.....

Good Luck All

Frostlings Day 1

Each year we see that the snow and ice gets less and less. In order to stop this vile thawing the cool council of the Frostlings decides: We must conquer the world and put out the fires that destroys our precius ice.

Heroes flock to our banner to join our just quest. All begins well as we slay a vicious fire elemental and take over its node of power. Oh, those horrid flames!

A new spirit has entered into the Shire lands. A Cleric called Harpie joined the ranks and smote the Watery spirit which guarded the node before the Satyr could charm it. Failed attewmpts at charming the watery beast yesterday led to a little impatience on the part of Harpie.

And "Why," he asked, "have you instructed the the Wizard's to research Bird's View when much better spells exist?"

"Because we have such short legs, that we need to see over the trees when we run from our enemies", we replied!

"Summon Eagle would have served that purpose better," Harpie snorted.

The Satyr laughed as he thought it funny that one other could snort as well as he.

"Because," said Lorri carefully, "We never expected the Wizards to ask for soo much money for such a useless spell."

Harpie looked at Lorri strangely, "And what about ghostly over there, the one who disappears in the trees? What's his story?"

"He says a Great Spirit, Arctic Wolf, sent him to be of aid in the time of crisis."

"Crisis? What Crisis?" Harpie said as he inexplicably attacked the Highmen settlement instead of paying their reasonable fee for enty into our ranks.

"What did you do that for?" asked Lorri.

"That small one over there looked at me funny." Harpie said with a cackle in his voice, "He won't be looking at me funny no more... Nobody looks at me funny!"

"By the way Lorri check your spellbook! Don't you get it? In this world between the worlds.... Halflings are supposed to be evil!!"

Elves day 2

At least our beloved forest home is safe for now but a dark world is out there. A barren wasteland with an old unused road goes to the east and west. Which way shall we go?

Mists of darkness to the north tell us of great evil, we can feel the death in the air.

The ancient texts speak of our once fair cousins, too bad they chose to use evil magic to twist the trees to do their bidding. The texts say they sought new forests where the sun rises first. Should we seek them out and see if they are the cause of the disturbance.

We also read of those mortal humans that have strange machinery. They burn and destroy the forest to make such monstrous things. Maybe in their dwellings in the West we will find the answers we need.

We move out to discover what can be done to return this world back to it's proper state.

In the meantime Harpie had Galloped off to capture a power node just beyond the Highmen town and what do you suppose he saw. Orcs!!
"Now those people I could be friends with," Harpie declared. Now what do you know, no sooner had Harpie said this when the Orcs sent a message over the mountains declaring just the opposite intent.

Just then Lorri found out something interesting. When she reviewed the logs of the great battle against the Water Elemental a funny scroll fell from the heavens. A hitherto unknown before feature of the waternode appeared and declarted it was possible to produce 25 % more mana from the node than was previously believed. "Is this legal?" Lorri wondered.

Suddenly Lorri felt a Dark Gift bestowed upon her from none other than the Ghostly one. "Harpie's right!" the ghostly one said, "We'd best get used to the evil power of this twisted world, for if we do not embrace the evil power which fills the lands, then our time in it will be short lived!!"

From the midsts of the deadly mists to the North a ghostly voices booms, "Death to the Elves". This comes as no surprise, those with no life do not value our lovely forests. Lucky for them the mountains prevent us from attacking them.

Aha, we have found one of our misguided cousins riding atop a dark horse. Are they the cause of the evil in the land? They are still along way off but within reach tomorrow.

Dark Elves - Day 4

We, the followers of the great Sprout are unlike the many of our kin. Unlike our twisted kin, we shun the evil magics and instead follow the glorious path of life. Already we know how to rejuvenate the lands that have been laid to waste into groves teeming with life...our spell of blessing will soon be researched as well. We find ourselves repulsed by the evil undead and drawn to these strange cousins of ours to the southwest...perhaps we can see past the centuries of distrust and once again call each other "brother".

Confusion, of course resides within the Halfling camp, The ghostly one has firmly sided with Harpie and embraced the evil power of the land casting upon the others dark gifts and other fell enchantments.

Impatient as always Harpie rushes ahead and as suddenly as that, the green grass and lush forest were replaced by a cold wasteland. Whereupon Harpie immediatelly stopped and began to build a snow hobbit.

Lorri as was her want went the opposite way and an even more startling transformation appeared. The air filled with the putrid smell of death and decay and lo the land became as black as night under her feet. A monstrous town appeared as though in a vision filed with dogs of fire, and bones without flesh.

"I could never live as this," reflected Lorri. "Surely the others are wrong?"

The ghostly one moved which way as was his want, but as he dissappeared it was impossible to say which way he went.

But in the midst of the confusion all heard the voices in the winds. Elves both fell and kind conspiring, seeking to reunite perhaps to the detriment of all. Goblin voices were heard as well seeking out to know which way the others had gone. Perhaps that spell which reveals all from above is not so useless, for the Halflings know the lay of the land and which way the dominoes are about to fall!

War has been waged with the creatures without life, we know they must be destroyed in order to bring order back to this realm.

Our long lost distant cousins. They claim to have the power of life that has been taken from and flaunt that great power as they shout insults at us. Oh how we are offended at this outburst, however we are drawn to the power of life and the thought of rejuvinating the lands that have been laid waste. For now we decide it best to let our swordsman stand guard on the road and watch our cousins to see what they will do with this great power.

We have also found a human tromping down the road (they can be sooo noisy). Hey Oh there Human, what say ye?

Frostlings Day 4

-My lord, we have found a big pile of gold by the road north.
-Splendid! I love gold. You can do so much with it. Bathe in it, roll around in it, ...
-Ah hmm, yes my lord. Wonder how left it there.
-Doesn't matter. It is mine now.
-Yes, well, the treasure master has figured out that the found gold is just enough to bribe that town down in the cave to join us.
-BRIBE THEM!! With my gold? Are you nuts?
-Ehh, sir, it's like we get a town for free! With troops 'n all.
-Hmm, you're right. I hate to be separated from my gold, but I see the wisdom in your words. Alright, let it be done, bribe the town.
-Yes, my lord.

Across the paths and the brambles our Halfling heroes bound, each seeking to make sense of the strange world between worlds in which they have fallen. Harpie with his pet unicorn in tow spots a cold forbidding city filled with small dwarfish creatures, by the time the battle is ended the unicorn has a new medal, and Harpie has gained more valuable experience.

Lorrie decides that she has had quite enough of the foul air eminating from the skeletal city, Taking her pony rider with her she engages the battle with similiar results.

The Ghostly one to finds a greasy slimy city filled with venom spitting cretures, after a quick retreat to stone skin her mage, the battle is swiftly won.

Unfortunately the Centaur's luck was not fortunate, as the small dwarf town in the distance proves to be his undoing. (Beserkers get in lucky shots once in a while.)

Lorri makes a quick decision, evil or not she will not abide by skeletal warriors. The defences are entreched and as quickly as that Lorri begins to migrate the city to elfkin, in hope of providing a dialogue between the races.

Spotted some frosty ones in the distance, I wonder what they are up to?

The humans scurry off to the north and leave us alone, this is good. The terrible noise is quite bothersome. We post a guard at the crossroads for the next time the humans wish to speak to us.

We continue our advances against the evil in the world hoping to find some clue as to how we can return this land to the way it was before.

Frostlings Day 5

-My lord, the town we bribed yesterday down in the cave...
-What about it?
-Well, it turned out the cave is infested with hoards of bats. The troops we bought, bought it, so to speak.
-Darn! You're saying that all that gold was for nothing!?
-Sir, we still got the town, but there's not many defenders left. If the bats attacks the town will be lost.
-Do we have any one we can send to defend the town?
-Not to make it in time, no.
-Then we just have to hope the bats don't attack.
-Yes, my lord. Eh, there's one other thing.
-What?
-We have spotted the advance troops of the highmen in the south. We expect to be attacked tonight.
-Does it look bad?
-If the highmen don't attack with more than those troops we saw, I am sure we will defeat them. But I suspect they have more troops just beyond our vision.
-Hm, looks like we have to pray a bit to our gods tonight.
-Yes, sir.

The Trio of Halfling Heroes (TToHH) continue their adventures in not so glorious style. Lorri sends her halfling rider off to find that dwarf town which gave the centaur trouble, and faces down the undead emmigrants as they pach up and leave. Ghostly sheds his invisible cloak to search out new towns to conquer, and Harpie finds himself face to face with a Yaka.

Well Harpie took one look at that Yaka and his knees turned to Jelly. Off he shot back to his realm for reinforcements. Hopefully the Yaka decides to go the other way and bother the Goblins.

The undead continue their efforts to turn this land into a desolate place. We will not allow this to happen. A few undead troops die but we have yet to hurt them, but our plan is in motion to do just that.

The deep sound of the humans is far off in the distance, we will not worry about going in that direction. Hopefully our lost cousins will use their new light to bring life back to this land. We will leave them to their own efforts as we go in search of more answers.
