1. A couple of suggestions here. Firstly, if you want to play on something other than the given maps, go to the downloads sections and browse through. By default, you see the last 20 downloaded maps and can pick what suits, or go to the multiplayer section. Otherwise, browse through the turn logs of pbem games and see what people are using for two player games. If you need a particular map, I'm sure everyone will be happy to email it if necessary.

2. The dice thing is a website that returns a random choice for whatever you want. It is used in competitions where things have to be scrupulously fair, but I've never bothered in my pbem's even when they are WL. You can always play a map "the other way round" if one position seems better than the other.
