This is a WL match on the most excellent Pride of a Princess map by Dan Petersson (well done Dan )

Unicorn as the combined Highmen and Elven races
Enginerd as the combined Halfling and Dwarf races
Don't think the Humans will survive this one....

Day 1 & 2

Halflings have fun conquering the cities around them, we also explore a nice ziggurat (glad we were given that bless spell to start). We make preparations to conquer more cities and we're hoping to meet our dwarven friends soon.

Dwarves have been busy in their lands though their starting spells stink (well I'm sure I can put that Ooze and Dispel Magic to good use later ). No sign of bad guys, but they'll be coming out at us soon I'm sure. We see some nice towns nearby that we can purchase and won't have to migrate, could have been unlucky and seen a whole island of evil cities, this will help us greatly.

Small guys day 3

We move our troops under hill and over dale.... things are looking good but we may have wandered too far, I think the evil things may attack in the night.

I am happy to see that people still like this map. Good luck to you guys!

Itīs nice to be important, but itīs more important to be nice.

It is an excellent map, one of my favourites, and one I am also palying with Wild Weasel.

Bothe Highmen and elves progress according to plan with no setbacks. The question is, is the plan the right one?

Halfpints day 4

We continue our expansion efforts with little trouble. However, we do see a nasty beetle and also a few nasty elf archers that have strayed a long way from home...

posted 01-12-05 09:06 AM EDT (US)     6 / 54
We stick to our strategy with minor tactical deviations. Some losses overnight, which are basically due to grabbing outlying resources before evil hordes emerge, so they were not unexpected and probably worthwhile on balance. The Highmen have by far the easier time of it having both good starting spells and nice independent city alignments. The Elves sprint forward to grab a shipyard before the Dwarves, but hostilities cannot commence yet due to peaceful relations.

Both Highmen and Elf plans continue - battles fought and won. The highmen have some handy dwarves in service, which enables us to head over some mountains for a bonus target.

We watch the elves scurry about and wonder what they're up to. We really have no time to watch them as we are keeping very busy with other activities like.....

Killing a goblin hero, running away from a bone horror and support troops, wondering how many evil things will kill me in the night and that's only the half of it

posted 01-14-05 01:58 PM EDT (US)     9 / 54
The highmen lose an important support personage in the night, but the days battles go well. No sign of an evil threat except for one demon, but that's just probably because we haven't gone to far....

The elves lose a few troops overnight but the perpetrators are soon killed. On the front line with the dwarves, we see a tactical repositioning of troops in a backwards direction.

Tiny and Crew

Another fine day for the little guys. We see some evil things run away while others move towards us. More treasure is captured as we gain experience and level. Our biggest concern is the horde of evil things approaching my small stack of tower guards

The elves are running away (sure hope those evil things come out after them).

Highmen follow the plan nicely and all battles go well. Elves are more problematical - the scurrying foursome make it back home but there is a full stack of goblins including a high level hero and two trolls at the other gates, so the home guard will need everything it's got to survive.

Halfpints

Another fine day for our small yet battle hardened troops. We continue to gather more territory and explore treasure troves. Soon the evil beasts will be upon us but we are not worried (well not too much that is). Things are going well so far with our plans (but things can change quickly).

Big Ones

The battle plan is strictly adhered to and all goes very well.... except that in elf heartlands we have a level 20 hero and his minions. Well, there are 4 less of his minions but our 8 stack of mainly archers could do nothing to dent his armour, so now he is free to do his worst...

A glorious day for the little guys. We watch hordes of evil things emerge and they just wander back and forth doing very little, maybe they'll come our way and within range of our border guards.

Our heroes gain more experience, explore for treasure, conquer new lands and more or less just have fun!

Highmen manage a difficult victory against a level 20 orce hero along with a couple of fire spirits, but the homeland is still threatened by a wandering demon.

Elves have reasonable fortune against the gobblins in the back garden, the two trolls split up and are killed for the loss of an archer and a swordsman. Hopefully they can be replaced next turn as the big hero is still there, although on his own now. In other news we spot a water walking piggy, who could be annoying.

Highmen still doing OK, but the big hero threatening elf heartlands does more than threaten. But now that we see we have been beaten to the centre by a turn or two, our battle plan has to change and may encompass a return to deal with the hero.

Halfpints day 10-11

We continue our efforts and are being chased around by hordes of undead and dark elf troops. Yes, they are coming up all over the place.

We are glad that the big people have figured out that the Elven princess knows what best and is serving us, soon the Drakes will be serving us too now that the teleporter has been razed (wonder who that Syron will attack?)

posted 01-16-05 05:59 PM EDT (US)     18 / 54
The highmen decide to pursue other ventures than footling about in the centre, although they are not yet sure what they may be. The elves would have instigated the first hero battle, if only they had been hasted when they should have been.

Halfpints

We decide to push forward against the evil things using our tall pirate king to lead the way. He is most ferocious in battle as he single handedly slays several beasts. He was nearing the end of his battles when he decided to continue forward. We tried to tell him not to but he just wouldn't listen.... The undead king was too powerful for him and he falls to the mighty sword. We mourn his loss.

Elsewhere, the 2nd most beautiful princess (the 1st is the halfling princess of course) died at the hands of the evil elves and their nasty spells

posted 01-17-05 01:15 PM EDT (US)     20 / 54
The highmen withdraw to fight other battles, and pick up a very nice staff.

The elves just sulk about losing two heros to one. At least evil has done our job for us on another one. But it still rankles that we kill the hero, then lose our remaining hero to a flippin' archer!!

Yes, we are quite pleased that the 2 elven heroes perished last turn when we attacked with our princess. We were quite fortunate.

We kill on lvl 10 undead hero today, another one will die tomorrow if all goes according to plan. We are slowly dismantling our enemies of all races and our super secret projects are progressing well.

posted 01-18-05 02:25 PM EDT (US)     22 / 54
Highmen took a risk that has almost certainly proved disastrous, though not terminal.

Elves make one small gain, in that the very annoying waterlogged baconsource is now on the roasting spit.

Little Guys

hehehehehehehe we spot an empty boat and some highmen heroes stuck in a valley. Oh we must sink that boat. Hope the heroes are stuck for awhile

Elsewhere we kill another mighty undead hero, things are going well for us but we are concerned at the mighty stacks of evil things coming our ways. (there sure are lots of them).

posted 01-19-05 12:28 PM EDT (US)     24 / 54
Highmen twiddle their thumbs whilst (a) evil takes a break and (b) the helicopter turns up.

Elves, on the other hand, are beset by evil and stumpies in the homeland, and a king floating around all on his own. So the second major hero battle of the war can commence.....

little wimpy guys

We feel a bit small as the big guys beat up on in the night. We lose our mighty spellcaster to the elven heroes. Most unfortunate. We will recover but it does upset us nonetheless.

Elsewhere, we laugh at the stranded highmen heroes once again.

Another fine day laughing at the stranded highmen (wonder when they'll get out of that valley).

Elves are putting up resistance as the beat back a horde of evil things, we'll try and put a stop to them but we proceed cautiously. Things are going well elsewhere except we left some troops in a precarious spot, hope the evil things don't attack those scouts.

Another discouraging day as we lose a mighty hero to the elves again. At least we take one mighty hero with us.

More evil things die and our eagle continues to bother the highmen

posted 01-23-05 06:25 AM EDT (US)     28 / 54
The Big Boys feel they are slowly recovering, although halfpint incursions abound. Heros have been crashing to the ground aplenty, except for the highmen who remain adrift. Our elfazrac is not attacked by warlords after being left high and dry as the sole survivor of the latest carnage, which was a relief. We know there's a king making a level nearby, but we gather some troops ready for action.

Dwarves and Halflings day 18

Well, we had hoped the orcs might help us out a bit and attack the mighty elf hero. Instead we will have to find a way to deal with him. We pull back from the former elven lands to see if we can survive yet another day to fight. We worry about the hidden ranger and fairy, they'll show up before too long (probably against my liking)

An interesting battle may take place in the night between a mighty eagle rider and a valkyrie. Plans are moving forward steadily in several areas as we continue to gain lots of experience as we kill all these nasty evil things out there.

Highmen/Elves

We decline the offer of aerial sport! We are also denied the opportunity to rid our land of any more of various floating nusiances. But our elves strike forward towards some dwarves, wondering if the king will join in, and how that will go.
