Just a friendly note:

Each race begins with negative income, but several important decisions. It may be important to at least look at the map prior to playing such that the start of the game is not determined by sheer luck of moving in the right direction.

But of course that decision is yours. Also each starting position has troops in the depths as well as on the surface. So check the lower levels for the position of your units.

I hope you really enjoy this one.

No one has mentioned races - I would prefer Elves or Goblins - and as a note I played one of the earlier versions of the map (there were no depths at all in that version), so if you think that gives me an unfair advantage, please wait for someone else, hope you all have a fun and enjoyable game.

Our minions move out to gather resources...although no battles, nor anything gained today!

Made good progress above ground so we are running in profit, but somewhat less successfully below where the fight for a reflecting pool was considerably harder and more costly than expected.

Heavy losses taking a reflecting pool, and then AoW crashed. Fortunately it recovered without restart.

Otherwise, we buy a city, capture a builders guild and mine and take a wizard's tower (but forgot to check the spell...not that we could afford it no matter what it is).
