Snowscapes and Mirages
(An Arctic Wolf Project)

Azracs and Frostlings are perhaps the most intriguing of the neutral races. They live lives which seem very different from each other yet in many ways are very similar. They each hold a deep mistrust for the extreme evil (Undead) and the extreme good (Highmen). They share an equal tolerance for the Keepers and for the Cult of Storms, and each enjoys the company of Humans and Lizards equally. Frostlings and Azracs each have an affinity for creatures with the Azracs producing beholders, scorpions, and elephants in their cities while the Frostlings produce Nordic Glows, Yeti, and Dragons. It seems the only two things these races disagree upon is land and temperature. Put a Frostling upon the sand and he is most unhappy. Place an Azrac upon the snow and he becomes mournful and wants to go home.

You would think this a rather small difference in the entire scheme of things; yet over such tiny things as land and temperature erupted a not so tiny war. It started when the Frostlings Empress Kiyanik invited the Azrac Regent Ashira to partake in diplomatic talks to share all the known world. The world known to them at least. Regent Ashira accepted but requested that the talks be held in her wonderful southern desert retreat. Of course Empress Kiyanik would not hear of such a thing and demanded the talks be held in her snowy realm to the north. After all it was she who had come up with the idea in the first place. Ashira, while secretly sending her top lieutenant Allendale northward to establish Azrac claims, politely disagreed and reissued the invitation for Kiyanik to travel south. Kiyanik stalled for time and quickly sent out a lieutenant of her own to establish claim in the south.

Each remembered tales of a wonderful Magical Nirvana in the depths supposedly full of magic and power. So each secretly sent a few scouts to poke around. When each learned that the other had done exactly as she had done; of course, the indignation led to a declaration of war.

Funny how such trivial matters as land and temperature can cause such a fuss!

Frostling Objectives:

1) Find the Diadem of Charm and the Ring of the Mind
2) Release Linweed Moonsong from a nearby prison. She has special undergarments which are most alluring and useful.
3) Find Taryluk and Danyluk who got lost on their way to Nirvanna
4) Capture the Lizard City of Allabaster

Azrac Objectives:

1) Find the Ankh of the Avatar and the Holy Pendant
2) Release Ellorum from a northern prison. She has a special potion.
3) Find Pator and Lord Agave who got lost on the way to Nirvanna
4) Capture the Human City of Frostview Heights

Of course other objectives will present themselves but this is a good start!

Author's Note:

This is strictly a one vs one map meant for Lan or PBEM play. The map is symmetrically skewed such that each player must travel a different path to victory, although they each share the same overall objectives. Some structures have small reward with respect to items, but these structures have large rewards with respect to units intended for capture.

Play leaders off and explore on.
Do not change the spheres.
Enjoy

An extremely detailed and balanced map for 1 vs. 1 duels. The map provides many strategic choices and is hard to master. My only criticism is that for my tastes it takes a bit too long to meet your opponent. In spite of this I highly recommend the map.
