That sounds really interesting. I want to read The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, but I can't find it here. I guess I haven't been looking long enough.

The Path of Daggers- book 8 of The Wheel of Time. By Robert Jordan.

I didn't read the previous 7 books, just happened to see this book and I bought it. I've only read about 30 pages and I got tired because the book is about 600 pages long!

Just finished the Mars trilogy - Red Mars, Green Mars, Blue Mars (forgot who the author was) [edit] the athor was Kim Stanley Robinson[/edit] and am now reading Tolkien's the Lord of the Rings before the movie comes out December 19. I just started the Two Towers the other day

Then it's waiting on money for a few books that I want to read. Those include:

George R.R. Martin A song of ice and fire book 3 (A storm of swords) is out in hardcover

Tad Williams - Otherland series book 4 is out in hardcover

Raymond E. Feist - I am missing the last two books that came out in print on Krondor. I am still debating whether or not I actually want to buy them.

And of course I am waiting with bated breath for book 10 of Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series.

Right now I'm into CATCH-22; I love books that make me laugh out loud as I'm reading. After that I'll re-read one of Arturo Perez-Reverte's English translations---maybe The Flanders Panel. I highly recommend him to anyone who likes highly literate murder mysteries. Then----maybe LOTR for the tenth time. The Great Gatsby is on my list somewhere, along with P.G. Wodehouse. I'm going to sign-off now and start reading.

I'm afraid Catch-22 is one of the few books I just couldn't get into. I've only read page 1 of S's W, Gustavia so I'm not sure whether I'll like it or not yet (but it only cost me 99p from a charity shop, so it's not desperate if I don't )

Don't worry about reading kids' books, Arith. My whole business is based round the fact that a large number of adults like reading children's books (me included )

Here's a surprise, HMS Surprise that is. I'm just about to finish THE NUTMEG OF CONSOLATION by Patrick O'Brian. What's a landlubber like me doing reading a book about square-rigged frigates and other ships of the line? Never got seasick reading one.

Actually, one of my favorite all time series of stories was C.S. Forrester's Hornblower books. A few years ago my brother-in-law told me about O'Brian's series and so I gave it a try. Liked it just as much. So I'm about two-thirds through the series and going strong.

If you like historical fiction sea stories set during the Napoleonic Wars, give MASTER AND COMMANDER a try. It's the first book in the series and one of the best.

Oh... don't get me wrong, I only read a few kids books.

I don't generally read fiction 'adult' novels though, must be getting boring...

I liked The Chronicles of Narnia. They are some of my most favorite books. I also like To Kill A Mockingbird. That was a really good book. One of the few I would read again. Has anyone here read Ferinheit 451(excuse my poor spelling)? If not, then you should read it. It is definitely worth it.

Narnia is fun, as is Wind in the Willows and Alice (both).
'kid' books are often on two levels, one for the kids and one for the grown-ups.
I have to admit having tons of fun with Harry Potter

Fahrenheit 451 is classic sci-fi story, Zac. Very much Golden Age.
If you want more titles from that area just yell.

Gill, I've seen that book, but haven't felt tempted to read it. A friend of mine studies philosophy (part-time) and is always available for 'consultation'.

I'm currently reading My Three Years with Eisenhower by Captain Harry C. Butcher, USNR.

On my way to work, I generally listen to books on tape. The current selection is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

The next book that I am reading is Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett, who is probably my favorite living author.

Wizard and Glass - 4th book in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. (I feel the need for fantasy escapism at the moment)

Narnia was good.....Harry Potter is silly but interesting.......I liked To Kill a Mockingbird as well.

I just finished The Scarlet Letter a few days ago, have to take part in a Mock Trial on it tommorrow.....

Wizard and Glass what a classic novel!! Although it does descend to merely being a cheap porn novel at some points. I think the est in the series has to be 'the Waste lands', although the 'gunslinger' does have an abstract charm.

Eddings and Gemmel and Feist of course, although those are more 'easy' reading(no thinking required)

Pratchett, what a king. I REALLY have lied his last few novels, i think hes matured as a writer, or maybe ive matured as a reader..who knows?
