This information is absolutely fabulous I'll be adding that to my site VERY shortly

Concerning religion, I have a question: How many points is each god worth? You'd think 6 (30/5) But it seems not to be the case...EX: if one god is wrathful you'd think your culture for religion would be 24/30. That is not the case...but why?

I know that sounds confusing but I can't express myself

Thanks a ton Catillina

Excellent catilina, and very well presented. Could you give an explanation of the line on the gods, Is it without festivals?

I've only tested with all gods treated equally.
And without any festivals.

Btw, praising four gods and forgetting the fifth is a very bad idea (Are you 80% religious?) Except you turn god effects off

Catillina, I just brought up the point to demonstrate that they way religious culture is calculated is not very clear...

catilina - just a query. Two figures that I use are:-
1. you can have a population of less than 200 without temples indefinately, 200 in 750 is 27%.
2. a god will not become angry without a temple until the population reaches 300, 40%.

I'm not sure where these numbers came from, they might even be my own, but how do they fit with your data?, they seem to work.

Hi Theo,

very small cities (up to 200/300 population) seem to work a little different. Ex: Ask your health advisor, he says something like "In your small city...". You don't need doctors in such cities at all. It's the same with gods and mood.
And there is a thread called Population Barrier? concerning the same "small city problem".
I think the programmers wanted to give players an easy start.

Yes. It even says so in the manual! At the begin of your city, immigrants will come regardless of the situation. After the first hundred people or so, your governing will decide whether immigrants continue to come...

Thanks catalina, I only play at the hard level, you have made me realise that a lot of the data which I generate could be misleading to people who play at other levels.
At worst you have given me about 20 new lines of testing to keep me occupied until xmas, hi.
What hardness level did you use for your data

1. Ratings do not depend on difficulty level, except initial favor.
2. Most of the tests done at "very easy" , "gods off" and "rome supplies wheat".

Theo, I hope you'll find time for something completely different, at least sometimes

catilina,
Very nice. Your table quantifies something I learned a while back: it is better to ignore the Ratings Advisor when a few more points of Culture are needed. The Advisor typically asks for more of a building with lousy coverage, but improving some other coverage to "perfect" usually gives more "bang for the buck".

true brugle. i usualy goto the entertainment or education advisor to get the culture rating up one type of "culture building" at a time.

Two minor corrections
1. Entertainment / education coverage
sparse.. >= 1 % (and < 10%, of course)
none.. less
Don't ask me why, and you need a city pop greater than 50000 for verifying. (1 theater for 500 = 1% of 50000)
2. I've experimented with gods and I'm very surprised about the fact that I don't get cursed by displeased gods.
