Let's go through the changes...
I've taken Vriesea's suggestion with regards to the large statues on top.
He was right.
It was overkill So I've thrown in 8 shrines, which come in handy in keeping cranky gods happy.
I've moved the housing at the top in a tile on each side.
That's because when the houses grew as 4 1x1s, you'd end up with pesky corner houses not evolving right.I've thrown in medium statues at the top corners.
Just a cosmetic change. The biggest change is the removal of two 2x2s (one a side) to make room for a roadblock. In using the block, I found that connecting the block through a road running the rest of the city was impractical, as I'd end up cutting off some areas, having to build ring roads around others, and generally giving myself a headache. Using the new roadblocks, the block itself becomes a part of the main road system. Provides workers through nearby houses too.. You could say I've copied off Grumpus' road-through design A further note on the roadblocks: You can now easily use two of them as a road through your block, and protrude a third to an industrial area or such. Very handy.
With regards to evolution to manors... That wasn't what I designed this block for, so there's no native support. If you can get it to work, it's a feature. Otherwise, it's a bug With regards to entertainment... You won't get perfect ratings with it at FR. The block will give perfect all to 1200 residents. At FR it takes 1564, thus, by Nero Would's research, you've got all Goods. All that's needed is another pavillion. Any suggestions?
Same problem religion-wise. My suggestion here is plug any space about your city with architect access with shrines.
BTW, you'll notice that I've only included a few statues in my design. That's because the spaces behind houses are designed to be filled as need be. You could plonk statues, or a temple complex, or a festival square, or mansions, or palaces. The choice is up to you (and the space available )On multiple bazars - definitely. Makes everything run smoother, and can really save you in times of a crunch... I'm a sloppy player, so redundancy can be a real life-saver. Another important thing about this block is that bazars and water supplies both upgrade early if given plazas. Very useful. On housing inside/outside - I prefer it outside, because there's more room for it, and so you're getting more value-per-service building. This lets you build fewer blocks, and keep their ratings up. The downside is that desirability can wreak havoc on evolution, and desirability buildings can bloat the footprint. In closing, since this seems to have become an essay , I've got a few cities which make extensive use of this block. I've got a Meidum with 12000 blokes and little unemployment. Should I upload them? I'd also love to see any cities which make use of this block. Please e-mail them to me at marcolui@bigfoot.com
One more thing, remember that the numbers I use here are all for normal difficulty, which I play at.
Finally, a thanks to people out there like Nero Would,
Grumpus, SenetEr et. al.
